"I am quite frankly saddened and more than a little disturbed at the childish response from the Chinese emperor. Not only did he not address anything which I said but he resorted to an insult best left at grade school. That is to say "Nah I can't respond to your points but it doesn't matter because.... uhh... I've got it!... one second... right... You're on drugs so you obviously can't be trusted! I for one question the over all sanity of the Chinese crown and his right to rule."
-
[OOC] It worked semi well for a speech [/OOC] (IC from now on) "This is... interesting. As soon as a country criticizes the Chinese emperor suddenly "independent" sources find, and I quote now "severe acts against humanity and war crimes" as well as camps that are supposedly along the same lines as what the Nazis set up. Quite frankly I find this whole situation ridiculous; however I would like to have the sources of these documents shown and I would hope that forensic experts would examine these supposed documents with the utmost vigor to ascertain what actually happened."
-
"The officials running rampant through the countryside were set loose by the same emperor who now calls for aid to only certain parts of the country. Does that sound like an even close to competent ruler, even for monarch? Not only did he kick start a night of blood and terror but now he both refuses to claim responsibility and tries to keep aid from starving people outside of his control! Is this truly a ruler that the international community to support?"

(IC) "I'm sorry, but I think you've misunderstood. Brazil has the full interest of the civilians at heart. The reason we are not sending aid is because the Chinese government has refused it, and we would not like to needlessly interfere in domestic affairs. However, if the situation escalates and war crimes are committed, the Brazillian government will be forced to act. We would have been eager to act otherwise." OOC means Out of Character. Basically, it's for communication between forum peoples, and not actually happening in the game IC means In character, so what you are actually saying in the game. "The Chinese government holds little power anymore. Perhaps they will regain their former luster and perhaps not. That is immaterial and I urge countries to send whatever aid they can to China, and not just to the nigh upon deposed emperor of China but to the rural areas as well. For is it the citizens fault that their government called down a dare I say it? A failed Holocaust? I would say no, no it is not and to chip in South Africa is willing to send 500 million dollars worth of aid to the beleaguered peoples of Tibet, who were so long held under the yoke of Chinese oppression in the hopes that they may break free once again. In the mean time I once again urge the other nations of the world to send aid to the people not the governments of China." -Jan Van Zyl

Out of Character (what is said is not known by the general public and is not released to the press) In Character (it is released to the press and the general public will know of it). EDIT: "And yet you still let slip a holocaust upon your people. Furthermore up until they let the trigger slip they had the full power of the Chinese government behind them with a charge of "Find and kill corruption, with out trial, without due process and with as few bullets as possible" I hate to say it, but it would seem that the chinese government condoned the killings but lacked the foresight to predict what actually happened, that is to say a bloodbath that is unmatched for the amount of time that it occured in and the (possibly rightful) breakup of the Chinese government." -Jan Van Zyl

(IC) "But why should the Brazillian government withhold aid from certain citizens simply due to the Chinese government (who got into this mess and is arguably far more brutal than the invading armies or "crimelords") disliking the political climes of that area? In my personal opinion I would say that if your are going to give aid; you should give aid indiscriminately for in all rites the alleged crimelords cannot be any more brutal than the Chinese government nor are they suggesting aid being denied to starving people" -Jan Van Zyl

Not if you are supporting criminals. Retech you don't need his permission to stay in an area he doesn't control. Quick question though, is this IC or OOC?
-
Just like the first invasion of the Terran Federation all over again...
-
The funny thing is that he doesn't actually control that army. WHEE CLUSTER[bleep]!

I'm only upping the power of my police force and trying to create jobs... I feel hurt.
-
It wasn't all that bad... I mean sure malaysia managed to make a sizable empire through military conquest, but hey the end war was awe inspiring.
-
It's just a warning; because in all likely-hood the mod will make it hard as hell to pacify the rural areas of a conquered state; especially if the freedom fighters get supplies from other NPCs as stipulated by an alliance.
-
I would hope that you lot will stay away from africa in your empire building. The guerrilla warfare that would ensue would not be... pleasant (As in Napoleon's invasion of Spain level of unpleasant). (OOC of course)
-
Well Brazil could create a league of south and central american nations with some sort of mutual protection alliance.
-
Danish far more likely, seeing as the Danes kicked the [cabbage] out of the English in the middle ages and set up a kingdom/colony in Caledonia.

The glorious nation of South Africa calls another meeting of the African National Congress to discuss the collective response to the fall of the dictators in north Africa and to discuss the possibility of a treaty that would stipulate that all African countries come together against a non African invading nation. "Brothers and Sisters of Africa, I come with good news and bad news. The good news is that the tyrants of Egypt, Libya and Tunisia as well as several others have fallen. The bad news is that we have not shown any sort of collective response towards the new governments. Do we welcome them with open arms? Or do we curse them for the loss of human life that occurred in their rebellions? I for one would welcome those nations into the congress with open arms. For are they not African? On a related note due to the chest thumping of Brazil, Germany and Japan as well as the possible regression of the latter to its militaristic traditions I propose a congress wide treaty. Africa is a great and ancient land, however we cannot stand tall against foreign aggressors if we stand divided. So I propose a treaty that would call all African nations to send support to a neighbor who is assaulted by a non African power. Only through unity can we stop the powers of the world from crushing us under a great booted heel." - Jan Van Zyl On a side note South Africa raises an eyebrow at the recent rearming of Japan and questions exactly what it is planning.

I got a price from arch. 20,000 a year (well I had it before but now I'm posting it) for mid range soldiers.
-
I can almost guarantee that you will have a massive drop in prestige if make/use biological weapons. That being said: How much would this cost? Soldier; South African Primary armament: lasgun Standard assault rifle. Equipment: Combat knife, entrenchment tool Armour: Flak jacket. Troops may purchase better armour from their salaries.

They're currently clearing out a lair of mites.

The glorious nation of South Africa is more than willing to donate 15% of its total budget to the betterment of the world economy though it would ask for conditions. Chiefly South Africa asks that the other nations of the world turn against any nation that wantonly invades its neighbors, simply as an act of precaution. The world does not need any more empires or any more nations; African or otherwise chaffing under the yoke of slavery to the mother country.

South Africa sends 10 million dollars to gain access to hydrogen fuel cells as well. I find it amusing that retech has not asked either Japan or America to send money for stimulus (as well as the glorious nation of south africa)
-
Aye, you need to pay some cash to subsidize stuff. However if it helps to set up heavy industry I think it will be worth it.
-
The Nation of South Africa sends 100,000,000 Dollars to buy the use of the new mining laser for its country. Furthermore as a part of the promised 8 point plan two new measures are to be taken into effect. Firstly the police force of south Africa is to be remamed the "Arbites" and given 25% more funding and new powers (detailed later on in the document). A governement training program is set up to provide education to the farmers so that they may better farm the land. To deal with the influx of prisoners to the prisons due to the new power of the Arbites prison green steel mills are to be set up, where the prisoners may work to reduce the length of their imprisonment and repay their debt to society. Small business loans are to be given out at .05 % interest to prospective entrepreneurs to aid in the growth of the south african economy. Steel mills and other such heavy industry are to be subsidized to provide working class jobs. South Africa, In light of the destruction of the UN calls upon the African nations to strengthen the African National Congress and create a constitution that "provides mutual ties of protection and brotherhood" Research is started on: Combat drugs: Improved Stimulants 1/12 Combat drugs: Anti fatigue 1/12 Hydroponics 1/10 Cloning: 1/7 Growth serum: 1/20

Silence, citizen there's nothing to see here. Move along, you wouldn't want something... bad to happen... would you?

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but the persians had a method of killing people who really pissed them off (like a soldier who killed the king Cyrus) called the boats. [hide] The intended victim was stripped naked and then firmly fastened within a face-to-face pair of narrow rowing boats (or hollowed-out tree trunks), with the head, hands and feet protruding. The condemned was forced to ingest milk and honey to the point of developing severe diarrhea, and more honey would be rubbed on his body to attract insects to the exposed appendages. He would then be left to float on a stagnant pond or be exposed to the sun. The defenseless individual's feces accumulated within the container, attracting more insects, which would eat and breed within his exposed and increasingly gangrenous flesh. The feeding would be repeated each day in some cases to prolong the torture, so that dehydration or starvation did not provide him with the release of death. Death, when it eventually occurred, was probably due to a combination of dehydration, starvation and septic shock. Delirium would typically set in after a few days. In other recorded versions, the insects did not eat the person; biting and stinging insects such as wasps, which were attracted by honey on the body, acted as the torture. Death by scaphism was painful, humiliating and protracted. Plutarch writes in his biography of Artaxerxes that Mithridates, sentenced to die in this manner for killing Cyrus the Younger, survived 17 days before dying. (From wikipedia) [/hide]
