  1. [spoiler=Elder weapon]Hmm, so maybe we should acquire another elder weapon :) gives us just a bit more convincing power when dealing with gods? Who knows - we may just be able to reforge the broken sword Guthix used to slay a god in the first place...? @Above check the FAQ on the rsof that is where many of the new topics od discussion stem from. Very good points there.
  2. My thoughts on the quest: [spoiler=Spoilers] My thoughts: I note that zammy wasn't involved. Strictly speaking we haven't seen zammy before, whereas we had seen sara before in a cutscene. I wouldn't be surprised if next GM quest is zaros-zammy storyline. I also expect a dragonkin-sliske storyline. He made a deal to gain access to the elder weapon that we now call Armadyl's staff. Could it be that the dragonkin also wanted Guthix dead because he used the stone of jas? Sidetrack: do we know the exact connection between dragonkin and SoJ already? I mean, who was Jas, how did he enslave the dragonkin, etc. Ok so now the player is immune to god magic. If I were a god, I would simply avoid me and go about me business. It is not like we gained god-like powers - gods can teleport everywhere and still kill whoever oppose them, except for us. We are still as vulnerable to physical damage from say Nex and Char - so I consider ourselves more of an oddity now than that I see a clear path how the player shall stop the gods from returning? Guthix allowed Sliske to kill him. He could have chosen any other scenario... but no, he choose Sliske to kill him. If he was really tired of Gielinor, he could have anyone kill him. It is not that he was 'suicidal' - he had a scenario in mind and this is what the scenario looked like. What also slightly boggles me is that Sliske really thought he could kill Guthix? I mean, he did, but only because Guthix allowed him. Could it be that Sliske and Guthix also had a pact? The Sliske storyline could be immensly big - if he, the dragonkin and Guthix were all in it to create the starting blocks for what is to come? Zaros looking for a host body... well, it won't be us - at least not for long - but it might be Azzanadra? Jagex gave themselves a lot of options here... why not involve Kennith? Jagex specifically choose a question about Kennith to answer. I am sure they had a reason to do so - namely to bring Kennith back into the picture and relate him to this part of the RS lore. We almost know for sure he is Icyene, right? Zammy (again) - what is he waiting for? He is more or less the god that has been least visible in all past quests now. Zaros we even heard through the portal but zammy stays quite far away. Do you think zammy will simply be defeated by Zaros and his followers? It would fit RS lore and Jagex's whole idea about wrong and right. I mean, no way that there will be a storyline where zammy comes back and defeats Zaros again lol.

  4. Hello, I have maxed combat except for ranging. Never gotten really into it but now I am looking for a nice setup that allows me to do more ranging. I won't be camping anything specific, but rather would do quest fights, some slayer tasks, etc ranging where I would be using melee mostly before. I have about 40M to spend so I no nex gear for me. Hence the question: what setup would be good: arma plate and chainskirt still good? What crossbow; dragon 2h, dragon xbow? What ammo? I have only 80 dung so also no chaotics for me at the moment. Please advise ;)
  5. Another "great" thing about PoP is that when you do the marketeer or bar random and you disconnect - its gone. WTH Jagex, why don't you implement the same 5-10 minutes save option as you do for dunging... ?
  6. According to wikia, voyages to the pincers can't be completed quicker than 8:41 hours. The minimum speed required for this is 2760. So why would anyone recruit an explosives expert who starts at 2000 speed at level 0? Is there a need/use for this kind of crew really? I am only at the Scythe now (95%) so wouldn't know, otherwise I start training one. Just a thought while typing: could you speed up special voyages maybe even more; I guess those are also capped at max speed and anything above won't take time off?
  7. This is exactly what I'm doing. I'm 90% done with the Scythe and I'm only doing scroll voyages or plate reward voyages. you can still focus on the lower regions and get plate missions - I wonder how big the effect of totems and other port upgrades will be: will you get half plate missions per day? I doubt it, but the effect must be decent in order to have effect. In the end it should of course still pay to do the higher area missions - more challenging, more reward?
  8. Just be grateful you had the mission, been in scthye for a week, about 60% done and not received the mission to unlock the Seawitch... That is rediculous, at least you have a chance of unlocking the Sea Witch, but if i can't get the mission then i can't get a chance of a sea witch... All that cherry wood wasted on cartographers... I think you didn't really read/understand my post... What use is unlocking the island and then not getting any chance to recruit the unit? I literally had 7*15 + 5*5 (rerolls) = 130 chances to get one and didn't get any. I would rather have the mission be rare and then plenty of opportunity to recruit the unit once you unlock the island... Well finally I have managed to recruit to my first sea witch - directly follower by number 2. At least I have 2 but it took really absurdly long for one to pop by - at least 250 crew members rolled before the first one appeared.
  9. I only have a captain with fast learner. Obviously it is not possible to check how it works as we don't have insight in experience gains for crew/captains. I assume it allows you to level up your captain quicker. I can't tell whether it actually works, 10% is not really a lot of difference. Quick learner seems to me as if it could be better than fast learner, but not sure ofc.
  10. That is unlucky... I have seen and recruited 3 10k captains now - one I got from captain reroll when I had 12k chimes hehe. I won't complain about not getting (still not) any sea witches to recruit because I'd rather have 3 10k captains and no sea witch than the other way around. Good luck getting those 10k captains! Shortly after this post a voyage returned with a random, which gave me a captain reroll.. and guess what captain I got :D ? hahaYou will see me crying in the forums a lot from now onwards Nice. Hope you got one with good traits?

  13. I have the opportunity (hah!) to unlock "opportunist" as a trait for one of my captains. According to the wiki this trait gives "Better returns from partial mission success"... what does this mean? Does it mean you can fail a mission but still bring home some resources?
  14. Not really, I have; one captain with 2 negative (base) and 2 positive traits (missions) (misery guts, liability, loyal, fast learner). Stats at level 5: 545, 1110, 545, 525 - not a bad captain at all. one captain with 4 positives: 2x tough-as-nails (base), workhorse and Quick-footed. (2x chance to avoid death, both others are improved speeds)... stats of this one at level 6: 1120, 560, 560, 790. Love this captain EDIT: recruited my third 10k captain: Landlubber (reduced sf) and Tactician (+1% ship's combat) as traits.

  16. Gah - I unlocked the sea with island 7 days ago - never had a sea witch for hire. Randomness is al what RS is based around but this is ridiculous.
  17. I am guessing Umi might have a role to play against Quin in the end. Wasn't PoP meant to be a new way to make money? Like MTK, but fancier. The relative rarity of bones etc would hedge against prices dropping instantly and making PoP superfluous/dead content withing a few months. Well, aren't we all counting on that? 8-)
  18. I wonder if seasinger Umi will get a bigger part in wherever this is going :) I also wonder what happens if all stories are completed: will that just be the end of it? Seems like if you have all upgrades in the port/boats, all you can do is hope for bones/plates/lacquer etc missions, and try to slightly improve your crew now and then... sounds like a bit of a dull goal to me?
  19. no-brainer: crew and third ship. Can you define crew? Which ones? I would advise at least 4 of all basic crew from the scythe: 4 x moral, combat, seafaring types. I still have the feral chimera's, they are usefull for combination voyages (I have 3, 2 would be fine). I erven use my siren's still but they become less handy quickly. I would advise at least 2 burocrats and 2 scythe-traders (forgot name). The rest you can play with - up to your preference, depends on what voyages you do, what percentage of success you feel comfortable with, etc.
  20. Amazing that from one update we have already 90+ pages of discussion... However, I still feel this is a relatively small update - I mean, how much is there really to do and see? Cutscenes and actual participation from the player would add much more to the 'rs-feel'.
  21. If they don't allow us to see a cutscene where this happens... Well, no cutscenes allows you to use your own imagination, I always like that. However, RS cutscenes tend to be good, so I wouldn't mind. Maybe one large cutscene at the very end of the two storylines? Also I am hoping we actuallly get to see the island - that we can go there and visit them!
  22. Well the third ship came in handy - now I have to find a balance in doing scythe missions and the other mission, such that I just finish all voyages each day. Don't want any voyages unfinished but also don't want to be done with all voyages before the end of the day :wink:
  23. Too bad there is no way to check how many people actually actively play POP... I mean - the amount of people actively trying to get the high level armours and crimshaws will determine the price after all, even on the longer run. If only POP rank/score was on highscores..?
