  1. Ok... Basically on the rants forum, I ranted about how younger players (you could tell their age by their behaviour) started being [delevopmentally delayed] and ragging on me, basically because I was 12 combat levels lower than them, even though I had pretty much twice their total levels... I work with children (so I get sick of idiots quickly) and I don't feel that I should have to train with my public chat off just to avoid them, when all of my runescape friends were made by talking while training. My proposal is that for membership, Jagex needs to be sent a form of id to check how old you are, and we are able to set our chat to either "all" for anyone, or just over-18s could set their public chat to "adult"... your private chat wouldn't be changed at all. I'm just sick of younger players being [wagon] online just because they're anonymous... I'm not being ageist here, you find me an over-18 being a total noob just because they're higher level and I might change my opinion that it's the younger players causing all of the problems. I'm not saying that all players under 18 are a problem, just that the problem is comprised of a bad bunch of under-18s, and I want to avoid them. I know the implementation of the id idea would be a problem, but that the filtering would not be. Thoughts? Ideas? Here's the badly-written rant, written at a time of anger haha  [hide=]what really annoys me is when higher-level players, like 95+, rag on high-mid level players... like i'm finishing off a green dragon slayer task from vannaka (which takes ages because green dragons are overpopular) and i've got 6 out of the 53 left to kill... i've been there ten minutes on my own, not harming anyone, when two high level players (one was 91 and the other was 95) showed themselves as children... their conversation went something like this: idiot1: her you let a noob in our spot idiot2: no i didn't idiot2: hey level 79 noob, go away idiot1: noob idiot1: why don't you world hop... go now me: huh? i was here first... and quit talking to adults, children idiot1: this is our spot idiot2: i'm 12 levels above you me: and i bet my total level's twice yours *i check high scores quickly and find out that i'm almost right* idiot2: i bet you only have 500k in your bank idiot2: noob idiot1: we're better than you noob *they then start to talk about stupid stuff between them and i teleport out because i've finished my task* what was up with this? what's wrong with these stupid 13 year old children who get their members' accounts because their parents pay, and rag on those who are better than them overall... and that's not even starting to talk about real life... i've met one nice high level player (101) who said sorry for taking my kills but that wasn't her intention, she needed limpwurt roots, and was it ok if we shared (hill giants, i was there for the drops too) and i was gobsmacked! a high level player who was being considerate? i spoke to her for a while and later came to the conclusion that she was an adult like me.. or she couldn't have been so nice. i work with kids... can't we have an age filter on runescape whereby i don't have to hear [developmentally delayed] cr*pwits under the age of 18? i'd never quit runescape because of the kids there, but this was created as a game for adults, and there should be an iq test... if you pass, you get the chatbox, if you fail, you get quickchat. i think that's more than idiots deserve anyway. wow that's a long rant...[/hide]

  3. i live with my partner and we're in a serious long term relationship. over christmas we played runescape together for fun, and that's ok because we know each other in real life and we know that neither one of us is a crazed stalker/rapist/pedophile. there are real dangers out there online for kids and having a runescape bf/gf could lead to bad things happening. even aside from the danger aspect, it's pretty pathetic. i mean... you can never know a person truly if you only ever see their bunch of pixels, and you break runescape rules by asking for more. my advice is to stick to real life relationships. even if you managed to keep an rs relationship going outside runescape, it's likely to be long distance, which hardly ever works out anyway.
  4. that's the stupidest thing i've heard in a while. that's like saying... i can afford a better car than you, so you can use it and i'll be the only one to pay for it. members pay money to get the whole map, as with anything in life you get for what you pay for.
  5. for the record, the point i made was not so much about homework... (i'm a college student... i have homework too...) but about you claiming to have a life etc, when you do not have anything close to a "life" by adult definitions.
  6. You would have hated world 2 before the GE. i still hate worlds one and two lol...
  7. Lol I agree with you on all points. I once had a level 20 or something come up to me and bombard me with "noob, noob" etc... I asked how old they were and they said 11 (I was making a point about their behaviour). They asked me the same and I said 19. I was then called a no lifing **** etc. (I mean come on... I'm hardly geriatric am I? Runescape was created for adults.) There's a reason under 13s aren't meant to play... And sorry ragmar but 12 year olds don't have lives. You have homework. What i really hate is when people spam the chatbox in the ge with "buy 120 coal pl0x" and things like that... If people want to buy, then that's what the ge's for. There really is no need to make yourself look stupid.
  8. i personally think it's not a great idea. there are many efficient ways of getting around on runescape, why add something just for a "pizzazz" factor? it would make the game lag like crazy, especially for those who already have bad connections. and as someone already said... different speeds etc would be hellish to program in. basically, it might work on a game which is more polished eg wow... but on runescape, i like it as it is. i'd hate a horsemanship aspect to the game.
  9. while i think that range and mage are both weaker than melee in many respects, if i was on a pvp world... i would rather meet a 99 range guy with a darkbow than a mage casting ice barrages on me. plus, if you meet a range/melee who's absoloutly killing you... you can teleport. with a mage, high levels can block you from doing so, and so you have a higher chance of dying. although i do agree with the perosn who said that mage isn't a focussed pk skill... i haven't seen many (although i very rarely pvp)
  10. for the record, those like me who use macs can take a screenshot by pressing command shift 3 i haven't managed to find anything worth downloading for editing purposes for a mac yet though, so if i post any... it'll be off my partner's pc :P
  11. you say what too much? explain yourself.
  12. lol i totally agree, and i have a funny age-related runescape story. i'm walking along (can't remember where i'm going) and some person starts following me. i don't really care about this. then they start asking me personal questions, like my name and age and where i go to "school" haha. i reply saying that my name is private, i'm 19 and left high school a year and a half ago. the reply? them: eeewww ur old y nt go do wrk or sumtin me: pardon? them: leav runescap 4th yung ur 2 old 2 ply me: lol, i have more right to be here than kids like you me: you want to know why? them: kk y thn me: because i'm paying my own internet bill and membership me: you're simply spongeing off your parents me: plus, lrn2spl kthnxbai them: ur doin it nw! reportd me: and why are you reporting me lol? them: cuz ur a mean pedofile me: hahaha good luck with that. am i too young myself at 19 to say "kids these days?"
  13. i'm a mid level player (72 combat, 1126 total level) and i've had a couple of low levels begging and asking for tips lately... it's no big deal, if someone's asking for advice i give it and if someone's begging i tell them to go beg someone who cares. simple as that. i've asked high level players for advice on money making, or fastest way to train etc when i was a noob. i never [wagon]-kissed. i think those who do are kinda pathetic. when i'm a high level player i'll still hate it.
  14. Believe me I do lol
  15. Okay... Another thing that annoys me player-behaviour-wise... Some people were fishing at Catherby and this person comes up to us, asking everyone their ages etc. I said my age (19) and he started calling me old, incessantly. There was a guy there who was 47 and he got a bunch of abuse as well. This noob later in the conversation admitted that he was 8 years old... Which explained his behaviour lol. I want to know why people on runescape can't just get along. My partner's 24, one of my best mates is the same age as my dad and another of my best mates is my kid brother aged 15. Age is just a number, and in runescape, a higher age just means that you're paying your own internet bill and membership instead of your parents paying it.
  16. Ok... I do have to say that I have very little respect for people who care about what others think of them to the extent that they would lie to their friends about playing an online game. I'm 19, and I have to say that my 15 year old brother thinks it's slightly uncool etc... But I don't care and I'd never lie about it. It's just a game after all. I advise the original poster not to take this the wrong way...but as you mature you'll care less about what others think of you.
  17. You know what I really hate? I'm a female with a partner that I live with right? (ok, so I'm not a child any more, but that's another rant) I don't care for young boys asking me: "u wana b my gf"? Pardon? Even if I put aside what I think about online relationships, would you go up to someone randomly in the street and ask if they wanted to be your boy/girlfriend? If the answer is no in real life, then the answer should be no in-game. And if I respectfully decline, saying that I have a partner in real life, I get a keyboard-ful of abuse for it... Presumably because I'm simply not interested. I do wonder what would happen if a girl in real life turned down some of these boys...
