  1. Ahh yes, like the "fantasy of evolution" or the "quantum fantasy". No son! Fantasy and theory are NOT synonymous. Fantasy is something proven to be the null hypothesis, and Fact is something proven to be the hypothesis proposition. The agnostic "middle ground" is where the majority of knowledge lies, and this knowledge is hypothesized in the form of theories.
  2. Well, I've got 11 before I think. With magic secateurs :(. Average is about 6-7 though. That's all I care for, and it's on par with everyone else's, so I'm happy :D
  3. Good question. I can't answer it thoroughly enough due to the diversity. But I can tell you that being an atypical high level player will mean that you will command respect, and that you will be looked up to, rather than having to look down upon others to try and justify the time you spent in getting your levels.
  4. I wear Full Barrows with Barrows gloves. And an HP cape. everything else is same. My setup is for practicality and best value. I would never grind at Green dragons or any such place to make money. That would be far too much of a chore. I don't believe that runescape should be a chore. I don't value hitting big. Godsword is a ridiculous alternative to whip, and though I could afford all of them and full bandos/arma armour with money to spare, that would be a major lapse of financial judgment on my part. I have not understood the fascination with big numbers, but I am willing to bet it hsa something to do with testosterone. I would assume this based on all the skinny bodybuilders at my gym constantly feeling the need to tell me that they "benched 215" when I'm doing 140-150ish. That is usually pretty funny, since my arms are about twice the size of theirs. I guess that this "big numbers" fanaticism has little to do with actual sucess... Achievement capes are worth 200k. The same as an obsidian cape. No matter whether it is a farming cape, herblore cape, slayer cape, or summoning cape, the cape itself is worth 200k. That is nice, considering you can buy it for 99k. But the 99 is what should be valuable. Sadly, the skill Joe will get 99 in probably won't be worth training past 99(or even 70 if you don't value the cape). He plays runescape like a chore. How sad is that. He could be enjoying something else, but he is slaving for weeks in order to earn the right to wear something which he will feel a couple of hours of elation for. I feel sorry for him. Hopefully when he is older, he might get alzheimers, and he won't remember that his childhood was wasted in arduous clicking. and those stupid forum mods don't even give him a punishment he would care about. MAYBE(but not probably) a 48 hour ban from forums. Well, he never intended to use the forums until the next update he doesn't like! so he doesn't even learn his lesson. Yeah, I would never be like this. I do what I enjoy, not because I want XP, but because it pleases me. I might take a moment to absorb the scenery around me, but Joe only looks for the ends of his actions. Forget fun, Joe wants to be the best so that he can call everyone lower leveled than him "noob". Sorry, my goal is not to be an immature level 138 whom you only have respect for before he speaks. That's Joe for ya! Truly a unique persona... wait, what?
  5. I think it is sad that these skills have zero incentive to train past 99. Actually, if you don't value the cape, many of them have no value AT ALL(except for quests).
  6. Read my dialogue with Dalcyte, the two can be done. The grinding can be replaced without taking the achievement out of skills.
  7. Thank you Wouter, I did not realize that this did not have breaks in it when I typed it in Microsoft Word. I added the following to the original post, here it is: One point that I would like to address is the "children should be protected" viewpoint. Now, while I understand that some may view children as innocent angels who shouldn't be corrupted, I don't think such inductive reasoning can be applied on all children, especially ones who play runescape. Often, it is more likely that it will be children using language in a vulgar way rather than adults. Moreover, children who are censored and told by oppressive rules that they should not say derogatory things develop a resentment toward the authority that imposes such sanctions upon them. They will simply search for more ways to amuse themselves with words which are not censored. And this leads to the adding of words to the censor and the impedance of communication between many people which I referred to in my original post. The children are unaware as to WHY using language in a vulgar way is detrimental to the environment of runescape. As was the case with the RWT, children asked their parents for money to buy RSGP with, and the parents gave them birthday gifts of RSGP, and neither of them actually knew what was going on 8000 miles away with credit card fraud, human rights abusers, and other terrible things caused by RWT. When Jagex told of these horrors, the most selfish among the children probably only thought of themselves and the fact that they wouldn't be able to get money without working anymore. The compassionate would have realized that RWT was wrong. The exposure to evil is, however, evidently present among children. The compassionate learn about why to follow rules like offensive language, scamming, and RWT through their conscience. The selfish, through their personal losses, such as their accounts, or liberties. The latter group inevitably has a hard lesson to learn. Don't think any censor or restrictions otherwise can prevent this.
  8. Lulz, apparently I'm a communist because I want Runescape to be more fun, less work, and pro social. I'm inclined to continue playing runescape just because of the time I've spent in the game, but I feel I'm going to need to let go soon.
  9. Ahh, the censor. What memories it brings back. From the time that it altered all vulgarities to *cabbage*, its intricacies have caught my fancy. The censor serves a simple yet essential function. It serves to protect people from hearing undesirably obscene things. No doubt that it succeeds in its function, and no doubt it should remain in this game. However, the limitations that it puts on communication are many, and therefore, I believe that it would be in the interest of everyone if the censor was made optional. By optional I mean that censored words said by people with the censor off will only be visible to others with the censor off. And, of course, the censor will only be optional for accounts of users over the age of 13. Words can hurt, words can kill, and words can influence, but language is best judged by the intent behind it, and the purpose of it, rather than words arbitrarily judged to be obscene. A legal criterion established by the highest court in the United States for obscenity is that the work, when taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value. Obscenity clearly deals with the intent and usefulness of what is in question. Bad words cannot be judged as obscene, and forced censorship seems unjustified. As you may have noted, there are many books, movies and informative texts that use these words constructively in a way that has value. Bad words do not have to be present in obscenity, and valuable manuscripts dont necessarily have to abstain from questionable language. The censor has historically been a cumulative list, and as vulgarities have popped up, they have been promptly censored. As this happened, people took it as a challenge upon themselves to discover new bad words which circumvented the censor. In time, these words and accompanying phrases were added to the censor, creating a humongous censor list. More usernames were censored as the censor kept expanding. However, Recently, the censor was loosened. It allowed many words found questionable by a lot of the people I play Runescape with. This measure was evidently taken in order to lessen the complaints of Runescape being a childrens game. However, I feel that they took a terribly miscalculated approach to this. The group of people who dislike bad words, and the group of people who find enjoyment in using them are two radically different groups of people, and finding a compromise between the two is an indomitable task. I do like that Jagex trusts its players to not abuse it, but there are people who simply do not wish to hear vulgarities whose wishes deserve to be respected. The optimum choice would have been making the censor optional. Making the censor optional would mean that the rights of those who wish to maintain a civil atmosphere are not violated. And it certainly would not mean that rule 1 would be removed. But it would allow venue for discussion among many topics which were not present before. These topics, according to some, are undesirable, and therefore, the censor will make it so that they cannot see them, and according to others, hold much discussion value, and thusly, these people will be able to discuss them. Some would express concerns that an optional censor will make vulgarities ubiquitous throughout Runescape. Others would say that this would open doors for password scamming, or online predation. These are very valid concerns, though the bad words will die down after an initial outbreak, and the censor, being optional, will still be available for those who do not wish to hear such things. Online Predators likely are only barely hindered by the current censor, and a censor on/off switch would give a chance to educate those who lack knowledge of the different people they may meet on the Internet. Password scamming is no different, and those with the censor on will continue to remain safe, while those who choose to turn their censor off will have to be careful not to say their password Naturally, any loosening of the censor, or making it optional, requires a giant leap of faith in the community, and when people are given potential for abuse, there will always be those who will make use of it. However, Runescape has come a long way, and peoples rights can still be respected without a loss of freedom for others. The most basic premise of an optional censor is that an optional censor will facilitate communication, rather than hinder it, and will satisfy two different types of people who are very different. While there are arguments against it, I believe that Runescape players can be trusted with the responsibility of free exchange of information. Although ultimately, that conclusion will vary from the perception of different people with different experiences in Runescape. One point that I would like to address is the "children should be protected" viewpoint. Now, while I understand that some may view children as innocent angels who shouldn't be corrupted, I don't think such inductive reasoning can be applied on all children, especially ones who play runescape. Often, it is more likely that it will be children using language in a vulgar way rather than adults. 10. Heh, It's not a copy and paste. But feel free to massage your ego by saying it is.
  11. My maxes(Best ever) Power Clean: 160 Bench: 225 Squat: 280 5'6" 160 lbs 6% body fat, age 16 :) I have a long way to go, I'm ashamed that I haven't fulfilled my potential. Luckily, this shame is my drive for improvement,
  12. Just realized. You guys are going to accuse me of Copy+Paste. Thought we had a more mature community. We Don't. It is understandable that you guys can't accept that you have a good writer in your midst. I mean, it might make you feel inferior, and we can't have that, can we? So you act like inferior people in order to think of yourselves as superior. Wow, what a paradox, why do people do this?
  13. Dalcyte, I want methods which give XP rates comparable to the "grinding" methods of today, maybe 5-10% less, but very close, and for them to be enjoyable. So, assume skill X is trained at 50,000 exp per hour through hardcore grinding... Ideally, There would be a fun method which would give 47,000 XP per hour which wouldn't feel like a chore. Unless you wanted to do it to 99 without taking breaks or cycling or doing quests. In which case ANYTHING might feel like a chore.
  14. So, if it doesn't affect you, then you're Okay with it? Sadly, the precedent doesn't work like that. The law deals in absolutes and precedents. Otherwise, discrimination is present. Is there anything ethically right about it? Well, it doesn't help anybody except themselves. People will always defend something which is to their advantage. However Unethical it may be. I mean, why do you think it took us so long to abolish slavery?
  15. Again, Instancing GWD bosses, with perhaps a cutscene before entering, would be the most logical way to solve this. It would eliminate the need to increase LS worlds. In fact, we wouldn't need more than one LS world.
  16. Cooking can be obtained faster than fletching, and the cost difference is negligible, so I would rule out fletching. If you have the money for both, then Prayer is "easier" to level than construction, since very little clicking is involved, and sitting while you gain xp is generally accepted as "easier" than vigorous clicking. So, basically, Cooking for those who don't make a lot of money, Prayer for those who do. Or I could go all Zarfot on you, and calculate the time difference, and tell you how much you need to value your time at to prefer prayer :D But to be fair, I value time spent doing different things very differently.
  17. I can just see Zezima and Yogosun changing names for a day...
  18. I don't think this would solve much. This would definitely anger a number of their highest level, and most loyal players who have a lot of skill and determination(soloers). Instancing GWD bosses, with perhaps a cutscene before entering, would be the most logical way to solve this.
  19. Well, Prices would come down. Unless the drop rates were changed to where a similar number of items were coming into the game. Technology always gets better, and lag won't be a problem. Crashing is, after all, not a very respectful thing to do, but people are forced into it, since there are often not any open LS worlds. If Jagex has the ability to stop this once and for all, and make the experience of the Boss hunters more enjoyable, it seems almost unethical not to? But then on the other side, Crashing is a form of competition, and in large groups, can alleviate the boredom of killing the same boss for 4 hours in a row. And the stronger person or group dominating is a very common part of the game.
  20. Yes. I actually did directly say something like this somewhere. Yes. That's why 99's won't be devalued through fun.
  21. It is a virtue. Patience is not a skill in any definition of the word "skill"(That's my opinion, though you may disagree) None of them meet all of the following: Fun, Not repetitive, Promoting healthy competition, and among the best ways of getting experience in that skill. PP is repetitive, Crafting is repetitive, FoG/CW/SW is a very slow way of getting xp.
