  1. This is a situation that is disturbing many countries; and many are contributing much. What is disturbing is that the food and medicines are on the ground there yet is not getting to the people. The roads bad? I remember seeing news reports of haitians "taking" and getting beat for it. Seems to me if those Haitians can get in close enough to take it, why not let them have it; then use their trail to get it to others. I know the 82 Airbourne found a way to get some in to the people. Seems others could find a way as well. Sending money? What on earth for? I even saw a news article telling about Haitians having to "pay" to get a bus ride out. This makes no sense t ome. Why are they having to pay for anything? Yes, I am sure my ignorance of the terraine is showing. I also believe if one of my loved ones was there, I "would" find a way to get items they needed to them if I had to carry it on my own back! I am also wondering why that little country has been left in such a degraded state all those years? Where are the billionnaires? Why aren't businesses of some sort set up and those people paid a livable wage to work it? Yes, again, I am sure my own ignorance is showing here; but I also know if I had millions to spend in helping others I would find a way to do something that did not keep the Haitians victims. Oh yes, I am quite angry the needy are never heard until their situation is so disasterous it cannot "not" be heard. At least Tte president of Senegal is offering repatriation to Africa for every Haitian. I am wondering what he means when he says, "... if enough people are willing to be repatriated, an entire, fertile, region will be given to them." I am also hearing that Haitians practice "voodoo". I have no idea if this is accurate or not; yet if it is, maybe such practices frighten outsiders and, if so, maybe this is why the Haitians have existed as long as they have in such a sad state. I feel so ignorant in that I am stuck in the country and only have the news and internet to tell me what is occurring in the world; and I have little trust in what such media states anymore.
  2. When I was working slayer, I use to love getting Nechs as a task. At that time the rune boots sold for 200-300k and the drops were very good for farming. When ranging with chins, it is best to be where you can throw them into a crowd. That is next to impossible where the Nechs are. Range does work real well in there if you stand behind that one table in the corner and if the other players in there respect your need to get the nechs closest to you there. I preferred straight melee with Guthans at the time. Those red flyers don't hit very hard; but they were a nuisance unless you could get them stuck behind something. With Guthans I never had to worry about them and just kept attacking the nechs.
  3. atticusako, you can go to Draynor Village and ask "the old man" as to what he thinks about the items in your bank, some of which you may not need to keep at all. As for how to organize your bank, it is best to think of what you use most and go from there. It is easy to change up the categorires if what you decide on does not turn out to be as convenient as you want. I can tell you what has worked well for me and that might give you an idea as to how some ppl think when using those bank tabs. My basic rule is: Place in POH what will go. "Destroy" items I do not often use, making sure to leave a "note" for myself as to how to get that item back should I ever need it. Tab 1: Money (all the different types of monies) Food (all types useful for me) ore and gems and woods, etc. that are useful in leveling skills other than combat, herblore or summoning (These latter 3 have their own individual tabs.) Tools useful in gathering items needed for skilling (picks, axes, fishing pols & baits, etc.) Here I also place my Varrock Armour & quest bag Tab 2: Everything associated with leveling herblore Tab 3: Everything associated with Summoning Tab 4: Everything I enjoy "playing" with .. all my clothes and toys that won't go in my POH Tab 5: Everything associated with leveling Rune Crafting, including all 4 pouches. I also include all staffs here and a few other items that teleport me places, i.e. Ardougne cape, Shilo gloves, broomstick, Pharoah's scepter, the different teleport tabs etc. Tab 6: Every type of weapon Tab 8: Everything I might need for treasure trails, including some jewlry to aid me during wildy excursions & the spottier cape with boots of lightfootedness. (I also place anything that might be useful for me should I ever play around in f2p worlds, including the foods, weapons, armour I could use there.) Tab 9: Every type of armour that will not go in POH. Those that can be "boxed" at GE are indeed boxed. Tab 10: All my jewlry (yes even if they have teleportation spells) Seems like I'm forgetting a tab; but maybe not. Hope this helps.
  4. Thank you Danqazmlp for reminding all this is not a subject to be taken lightly. We may or may not agree with what Jagex did in this instance; however, I for one am glad it took the comments seriously and actually did something. As for Police coming out to the home on this matter, it is not at all unusual for Police to visit a home where family dispute is occurring. In this instance their visiting this particular home just might bring a "silent" potentially harmful situation into the open for the entire family to see and deal with. Yes there may be negative repercusions; then again there just might be a positive outcome. All anyone can do is act according to what they believe is in the best interest of the one thought to be in need of something. That is truly all any of us can do. As has been stated numerous times in this thread, it is far better to take action in situations like this than to sit on the fence and hope for the best .. or not care at all, the latter of course doing nothing positive for our own characters. (What we practice is what we become!)
  5. Stats: att: 90 str: 83 def: 80 hp: 86 pray: 70 summ: 69-70 With your stats, you might have difficulty with this task. The waterfiends are lvl 115, which is not bad; however, they attack with both range and mage. For most players, this means heavy use of prayer. With your lvl 70, you would need quite a few prayer pots. This also means the armour you wear will need heavy defense in range/mage. Also, if I remember correctly, waterfiends are weak in "stab" or "crush". You would be wise to check this out in the RuneScape Knowledge Base so you will understand which weapon to use. I can tell you what I have seen used in that area fighting waterfiends, which might help. To start with, the familiars most popular are Unicorns and Bunnyips. I prefer Bunnyips because waterfiends drop quite a bit of "raw" fish; and Bunnyips will permit you to use those as food "without" scrolls. (Edited: ooops, you do need scrolls.) The weapons I have seen in here are zammy spears & sara godswords. The armour has been the more expensive ones such as Bandos & Armadyl. I personally use Guthans while carrying the sara godsword and have been able to stay longer than most. If you want to try them just to see what they are like, I would suggest you wear the best armour you have that has the strong mage/range defense and carry a teleport tab for quick escape. (There is also a "log" near them which you can click on to get out. It carries you down a river to a safe exit point not far from Seers Village.) Fairy rings will now take you straight to the waterfiends if you can use those; however, you would need to go in first and repair the one that is there. Also, remember when going to the waterfiends you will be passing by green dragons; so be sure you have an antifire shield equipted with mage protect turned on during that run. Hope this helps
  6. If you are using "fruit" tree seeds to level, then Brimhaven is definately the way to go as it saves much time. (I usually start at the GE, tele to Brimhaven to plant fruit tree; then to Gnome Village; then to Gnome Stronghold; then to Lletya; then tele to Catherby.) That worked real well for running fruit trees.
  7. If that one level for the diary is all you want, you might simply take a sip of Greenman's Ale, which will take you up one level. This might work for you.
  8. I personally think it foolish to attempt to make money with herblore at your level; however, to "not" go broke leveling herblore, you really need to develop other skills that will give you the herbs and herbal seeds you need to level herblore. If you prefer skilling rather than combat, farming is an excellent way to gather herbs; however, you need a rather good thieving level just to get the seeds. If you prefer combat, then getting your slayer level up high enough to get the tasks that drop good seeds is the way to go. If you are a quester, then setting up the Kingdom of Miscellanis where you get herbs (and seeds from maples) is the way to go. I think leveling herblore is a good goal. I just don't see how it can be done economically without leveling some of your other kills.
  9. I have been watching my son fill up his master horn. He is lvl 5 in all those categories and is quite fun to watch as he is sooooo very good at playing that game (most mini-games actually). I am personally wondering if that master horn is worth the time one has to invest in filling it. Questions I have relate to how much extra experience one will gain using it before it is drained and has to be filled again. (Will the time it takes to fill it be worth the amount of extra experience it gives during the time it remains charged or could I have used the time needed to fill it to gain that much experience anyway?)
  10. WOW!!! If I am understanding this correctly, it would have been extremely nice to have had it back when my clan presented a 4-day (2 hrs a day) mini-game we called "RS Survivor" on the Isle of Karamja. The diverse challenges both teams faced, the agility course they ran, the voting off of members, even the end when winners were presented with expensive gifts would all have been even more wonderful had it been preserved in a video. I am looking forward to this and do hope it can be utilized by someone on "dial-up" without too much difficulty.
  11. Etiquette might simply be a matter of stating what you are thinking, i.e. "There seems to be plenty here for both of us; however, I will hop if you don't think so too." As is said here, some enjoy company; others don't. We have no way of knowing unless we make our own thoughts known. I believe it would be just fine to state your own thoughts even if you were the one there first. How the incoming party responds will let you know a little about them. This can start a very nice friendship or simply let you know they are not the type you would enjoy being with. If they are rude in what they say and let it be known they are not hopping, I would probably hop .. yes, even if I had been there first. I would hop because I want all I do in RS to be pleasant. I would even rather do something else for awhile rather than compete with someone who is rude.
  12. This is a topic that should not be taken lightly. I am personally glad Jagex steps in and actually does something. There has been too many real world news reports of students killing themselves (even killing others) which might not have occurred if someone had cared enough to take actions. Does it over-step boundaries? Of course; but if it were your son/daughter/friend whose life was held in this balance, would you not want someone to step up and do something? I play RuneScape because I am quite proud of its makers. I have been playing well over 5 yrs and continue because of my admiration for its creators. It has become obvious to me that Jagex staff care about the people behind the RS avatars. Would you want your young/naive/innocent loved ones playing a game whose administration did not care? I think not!
  13. I very much appreciate this thread and the time Jagex staff took in letting us know what they focused on last year. It became obvious early last summer one of the major focuses was on community involvement and many players enjoyed this, especially the clans. I must say, however, I am somewhat concerned about how such is actually affecting the general populace of RuneScape. I do hope that "community involvement" gains a stronger component to it having enough sharp teeth to protect the naive/innocent , keep the atmosphere of the game "wholesome" and provide a balanced arena for the honorable player. As for the "skill" to come, I am looking forward to it and have no doubt it will be an interesting one. Go Jagex!
  14. Well, the title of this thread threw me because the definition of good or bad is relative to the individual's experience. Then the question was asked in the originator's post about whether or not we believe the quest cape is as fun to get as it was before? I like the idea a non-skiller can get a cape of distinction; however, I do not see this as the case anymore. In recent years the quest cape has gained a status of its own as the quests have been getting more and more complicated. One must have gained some experience in skilling for some quests; in others, experience in the different styles of combat. The newest quest definately gives the quest cape some prestige as few have been able to complete the slaying of Nomad. As to whether or not getting the cape is as much fun as before, I think it is even more fun as I enjoy a good challenge; and killing Nomad is definately a challenge.
  15. This is obviously a topic many enjoy discussing and all are entitled to have their own opinion. Opinions are neither good nor bad (right nor wrong). They are simply a reflection of personal experiences. Here is mine. Pmods are people just like regular players are people. They each have their own personalities which is carried into whatever they do in the game of RuneScape. Some personalities are helpful to others; some are not. Some personalities empower others; some defame others. Some personalities invite .. yes "invite" .. rebellious responses from the RuneScape player base; some open new ways of experiencing the game (also the world). Wearing a crown certainly does set them apart from the general populace; however, it does not define them as better people. It does give them more power than the general populace even to the point of placing more emphases on what they say; and this can be a helpful thing or a harmful thing, depending on the personal growth and personal psychological health of that pmod. When we make comments about a pmod's "intent", we need to check it for accuracy ; else we do that pmod (and ourselves) an injustice. I know if someone made a comment about my intent, I would appreciate their asking me if it was accurate or not. I think we could present pmods with the same curtesy. Purpose or status? Can it not be both and both be a positive thing? Example: Giving a hard-working player a compliment just might carry more weight if it were given by a player wearing a crown. Likewse, a simple *cough* coming from a crowned player just might stop some words being used that a young/naive player should not be privy to.
  16. Yes I have been running out of food. Thank you. I will take more sara/restore (less rocktail) next time and try the zspear right after I use up the sgs specials. I am actually enjoying the challenges in this fight, especially since I never lose my expensive gear. )) (You don't suppose I am deliberately sabatoging my own efforts so I can keep enjoying Nomad do you? ROFL)
  17. I have tried to kill Nomad 3 times now and all 3 times have died when he went berserk! 1. Taking overload during last part of fight will "assure" your death as it, alone, takes 50 hp from you. (No laughing now!) Obviously I had never used overload before and had no idea what it would do to my hp. 2. Took a sip of overload & then brought hp back up before entering the tent. Took tortois full of rocktails and inventory with 1 sara brew and 1 restore, 3 super prays, turned on soul-split and turmoil plus that other one that extends the boosts longer. Wore Armadyl with fire cape, bandos boots, infinity boots, fury, onyx ring and sara godsword [with rune c'bow and ruby(e) bolts for when he freezes me] .. Again died during berserk stage of fight! 3. Wore same, fought same yet took extra rock instead of the extra super prays (pray lvl 99). Still died during berserk stage. Getting discouraged!
  18. Hey Shadow. Looks like a neat guide. I have done all the new quest except for the last battle with Nomad. I have been gathering information as to how others have fought him, fishing rocktail and creating extremes and overloads. I am hearing numerous players say protect melee/mage does not work while fighting him; but only piety or soul-split with turmoil works. I may be misinterpreting since I have not tried it myself; also it might be that they had one protect on when Nomad was using a different combat style. As stated, I have not tried it. Also, I do hear your suggesting no barrows due to the expense in repair should one die; however, I am wondering hos well it might work, especially Guthans for the healing special. I have been watching my son fight Nomad off and on now for several days. He has extremely high stats and keeps his cool in any fight; however, the fight has been dragging on and on with Nomad running all his hard hits over and over. My son's hits have not been doing much damage, which makes the fight a very long one. Seems the strategies mentioned in various guides are good .. if the fight did not last so long. Thinking now maybe "attack" instead of "stab" may be the way to go with a Zammy spear. Much to consider and I am looking forward to trying out various strategies on this bad boy. Will certainly give your guide consideration and greatly appreciate your shring it.
