  1. This experience during the first ten hours of login is certainly welcomed by me. I am spending time prior to that collecting all items needed for the skills I will be working. Many players already have a good plan for using this time wisely. Congratulations to you all for planning ahead. I have chosen to work the skills I consider the most expensive, which are construction, summoning and herblore. Those skills I can work without competing with others. Thus, I have banked quite a few Mahogany, Teak & oak planks .. even a few steel bars. I have also collected enough secondary items to work up all my many charms. As for herblore, I have turned all my herbs into "unfinished" just to save time and have the rest organized for "extremes". (Miscellania helps a great deal in this regard.) I plan on using cw rings & spirit kyatts; so I have stored enough of those as well. If by chance I use up all my con and sum and herblore items, I will work other skills (once that are "not" influenced by the Master Horn). I suspect a few levels will be gained this way.
  2. Apparently so as I changed nothing; yet can now login RuneScape just fine.
  3. I have been playing RuneScape just fine until this latest (today) update. Now RS will not complete loading process. I get message giving me three resolutions for this problem: 1. Create new directory called C:/rscache. If possible, set this directory to have full read and write permissions so all users can write to it. RuneScape should then be able to detect that directory and use it. I already had this directory set up and, as stated above, all had been working fine. I placed the directory I had in my "recycle bin" (holding it there to restore if need be) and created another directory per instructions. (I do not know how to "set this directory to have full read & write permissions"; so I would appreciate someone in here giving me step-by-step instructions as to how to do this.) At any rate, I tried loading RuneScape again and got the same message. 2. Login to your computer as an "administrator" user and then try loading RuneScape again. This should give RS sufficient access to update itself. I own this computer and only my son and I use it. I have no idea which one of us this computer identifies as "administrator" and have no idea how to login as such. Can anyone in here give me step-by-step instructions as to how to do this? 3. Upgrade to newer version of Java. I did go over to Java and discovered I already have the latest version installed (Java 6 update 18) and it is working. Can anyone in here help me with the above instructions I have requested?
  4. When you say your tombstone "... appears outside the cavern ..." , do you mean outside Kuradel's cavern next to Kuradel or do you mean outside the ancient cavern next to the waterfall?
  5. You asked for an idea of what one "experiences" making up so much serum 207: I make it all the time from all the Tarromin I get from Miscellania. I "never" keep any of it in my bank as it will not "note" and is a pain to dump after you've permitted it to stack up. I of course collect as many ashes as I have Tarromins, banking it all. Then I take 14 vials of water and 14 Tarromins, mix it; then add 14 ashes. Then I "empty" each of the 14 vials and bank the empty vials. After all the Serum 207 vials are emptied, I sell all empty vials on GE for a nice little profit. Thus, I wind up with a "tiny" bit of frustration for very short periods of time, some herblore experience and then a little profit.
  6. If I were you, I would "test" SirIzenhime's suggestion as he/she heard you're not wanting to increase certain stats. Simply don't start your 40-minute timer until you try this on and see what it does for you. (Don't forget to carry an antifire shield with you unless you can use those fairy rings.)
  7. For those who do not already know this: You will need to speak with Pikkenmix twice for this mini. The first time is to get into the spirit realm to get your shards; and the second can be done at anytime during the week (providing you can find him when you are in game) to "start" the time you have to gather triple charms. Seems maybe a few chat channels might be good for this; or a tipit thread where people can post when they find an abyss open. This might save much time we might otherwise be waiting for pikkenmix to "rest". (I would try this myself except my time in RuneScape is too sporadic at this time of year to be dependable.)
  8. I have not started this D&D yet as I am researching it first. I discovered a Jmod stated we could use the "40 minutes" anytime we want; however, this is not that clear to me as I do not know "when" the 40 minutes would actually start. Also, does this 40 minutes apply to "skilling" too and not just combat? (I ask the latter question because, if I am the one who activates the 40 minutes, I would like to do so on a task that has the potential of gaining the most charms for myself.)
  9. This is a helpful guide and great credit given to different parties. I don't recall seeing any mention of the Lleyta fruit tree. It is an easy tele if you have the "tiny crystal". Also, gathering one load of those white berries in that area does not take much time and sell real well. (Just take sip of anti-poison & make sure inventory is empty for this & that you're wearing a tele ammy or ring.)
  10. It is obviously "not" the diverse pmod populace this thread pertains to; but the "concept" of in-game moderators in general. All we can do is "guess" as to whether the "...whole concept of pmods and those seeking the little silver crown is about status or purpose..." Only the Jagex originator(s) of the crown truly know; and as stated in other posts, it seems to me to be about both status and purpose. To divide the intent serves what purpose? A better question might be: What would be different "in game" without the player moderators (a "concept" you so vehemently disagree with)?
  11. My mind set is: Responsibility begins at home. With that being said, situations similar to the one being presented here are definately something I would do something about. If, after quickly analysing the interaction, I thought the party being injured would benefit from my physical involvement, I would step in. If I thought I, too, would be overwhelmed with no hope of actually being successful in helping the party, I would call the Police. It is one thing to take responsibility for keeping your community safe. It is just as important to consider your family during your decision-making process. The latter is a must! (If I had no one else depending on me for their survival, I would definately step in personally wherever and whenever I saw a need.) No "diffusion" here; just priorities considered.
  12. All in all this was an interesting read. I especially appreciate the information many of you gave about the historical aspects of your different cultures. Thank you so much for sharing. I am responding to some comments that hit me rather hard. I am still not sure how to use these posting tools; so I do hope you all understand what I am attempting to say. The American forefathers were very clear when they set up governing rules for the American nation, i.e. there was to be freedom to worship as one chooses. This of course meant "all" types of religious beliefs. This, also, meant those beliefs would innately be involved in all governing rules simply because such rules were set up by human beings who held beliefs. Yes, America is suppose to keep government and religion separate "legally"; however, it is obvious spiritual beliefs filter into the governing processes. (History has proven this has occurred throughout the ages; and I have little doubt this will show up even more in America before too long, though it will be quite subtle and go unnoticed by most. Magekillr, I appreciate your posting what your friend found; however, you just might want to suggest to your friend to watch for the American "Blue Laws". They are already on the books; just have not as "yet" been inforced.) As for the gay aspect of this thread: Has anyone ever noticed how laws change to serve the most outspoken of the majority? Even laws that maintain personal respect, liberty and the pursuit of happiness get redefined throughout the ages. {Look how America treated the blacks not that long ago. No one can tell me enslaving a race upheld their liberty and pursuit of happiness, let alone gave them any respect.} So the law of the land and crusades to uphold significant decrees are all subject to the whims of the ones in positions to enforce them at any given time. Barihawk, your comment, "...There is a difference between having a core set of beliefs than acting on them. Does someone need to be Christian to be Christlike?" I believe accurate; however, such an ability requires one to be self-actualized in order to even acknowledge who they are can be different from what they do; and without this ability to differentiate, trouble ensues.fakeitormakeit2l, I truly appreciate your comments. You might enjoy reading one of the newest books out called "When Angels Fall", written by David Starr and published by Trafford. RexMilotic, you have made some statements I can agree with; however, I, personally, would not consider anything coming from a site that identified the Bible as "evil"; and I strongly suspect others may feel the same way.Rex, you, also, stated, "...I actually wasn't, but I have read through the Bible enough to know certain parts like the one I quoted before about the Bible not being open to interpretation. That's meaning that you're to take the Bible literally if you're truly a Christian. The Bible says not of it was written by anyone other than those inspired by the Will of God, so the different sources don't matter." The problem I see here is your word "literally". You might want to remember the Bible is of "spiritual" interpretation and that is why it is to interpret itself. If left for individuals to interpret, we would have all kinds of conflictual information .. duh .. exactly what we have, isn't it? Rex, you also stated, "...Multiple verses say the Old Laws are not to be broken at all. If it wasn't for modern secularism, then we would still be stuck dealing with Witch Hunts, the murder of gays, non-virgin unwed females, and slavery. That is the only reason that Christianity is different, because people realized how extreme the religion was, and should they get more people to follow it, it would need toning down. Calling religion extreme because of it's laws makes perfect sense..." Do you not know there were two (2) laws (The one Moses wrote to aid the people of that time and the one God wrote to endure foever.)? n_odie, "...The doctrine that hell is a place of torment is not based on the Bible. Rather, it is a pagan belief masquerading as a Christian teaching. Just saying, hell, imo, is the prime example of scripture being taken out of context to promote a "truth." I know it's not directly on topic but seeing that comment made me cringe." n_odie, that made me cringe as well. The Scriptures teach "They will be ashes under our feet. (paraphrased)". Malachi chapter 4 speaks of this. (I do take that literally and believe the redeemed will be walking on those ashes. This certainly does not lead me to believe in the "hell" as many define it.) Rex, "That actually confuses me. Without having hell as a consequence for not following God, I see no reason to even bother following it. I mean, you could take all the good parts out and create a philosophy on it, but wouldn't be the same as a religion." All I can say, Rex, is OMG have you never heard of doing something out of "love"? Also, the "consequence" for not following God is "eternal death"; not eternal life & suffering because "the wages of sin is death"; and Jerimiah says "they shall sleep a perpetual sleep and not awake, saith the Lord." With these quotes from Scripture and others found in the Bible, it can easily be discovered that once the earth & everything in it is destroyed by fire, those that do not follow the one true God shall never rise again and the earth is made new for God's people. sarge1010, "... If God is all-mighty (?), why doesn't he just get rid of hell and the devil and such?" Doesn't this let you know God values our right to choose? ShadowFaxPZ and Saruman44, "...christianity is a very passive religion..." I do not believe this. I believe christianity is a state of being that is accomplished via much "internal" aggressive combat. GuardKnox, "... the word PERFECT means. It means without flaws..." I do not agree with this Guard. I do know God told us to be perfect "as He is perfect"; but I do not believe this means without flaws. I believe this has more to do with "integrity" and behavioral mistakes...seeing ourselves clearly (without our usual defensiveness); acknowledging what we do and taking responsibility for all we do. romy, "...the reason there are so many countries is that groups with certain things in common (whether it be language, idiology, religion, culture, history etc) would like to form a nation..." I do think this was a large part of it; however, they would not have even considered forming their own individual nations if God had not blown the language of that time to smithers at the Tower of Babel. Again, I especially appreciate the information many of you gave about the historical aspects of your different cultures. Thank you so much for sharing.
  13. As long as the message you received asking you if you were willing to be a player moderator came through the Jagex msg center, it is safe. Jagex is simply being responsible in the modding process: making sure you are who you say you are and being able to hold you accountable should you not be.
  14. The very same thing happened to me. I planted my willow and, when I went back to gather the branches, I continually received the message to wait for them to grow. (I had actually forgotten to "check the health" of that tree and that is what was negating my attempts to cut branches with my magic secateurs. After I figured this out, I checked the health, then had to wait a short time. Now I can collect branches every hour if I want.
  15. Welcome back ... You're getting some good advice here for combat. I might add "infinity boots" are great when needing extra mage defense and the "fury amulet" and "onyx(e)" ring cannot be beat for overall fighting.
  16. Well, my opinion is somewhat different from what you've heard; so it might give you something different to consider. I am lvl 99 slayer and all through the leveling I focused on what gear to wear that would permit me to stay the longest, cost me less and complete the task with the most experience gained. Any time I could use a cannon, I did so & I made my own cannon balls. Any time I could use Guthan I did so because it saved me much more on food than I needed to repair it. (I have the POH workshop you can use anytime if you don't have one.) Guthan also permits me to stay with waterfiends quite a bit longer than most other players stay. (Just switch off and on with saradomin godsword, using a bunnyip and the task costs very little to do with great monetary/skilling rewards.) Instead of "dragon boots", I would suggest "infinity boots" for the mage boost, especially if fighting an npc that hits you with magics. The armour I most use if I range an npc is Armadyl with either bandos boots or infinity boots, depending on what def bonus I need.
  17. "Now, I detect a little fence sitting on the issue so which is it? Purpose or status and why?" I do not believe it is fence sitting to see that both "purpose" and "status" are involved in one's willingness to wear a silver crown. I simply do not group "all" pmods into one single catagory and I have explained my reasoning for both in my previous posts.
  18. I am thinking you are f2p since you said you had so much swordfish to use. If you were p2p you would probably be using shark, cave or rocktail. In f2p the mosses and lessors would give you some great experience with some pretty good drops. If I am wrong and you are in p2p, you have some fairly good stats to work with. Taking "slayer" tasks to work melee stats is the way to go because you are gaining experience in that skill as well; and those slayer tasks drop good items.
  19. There is definately more focus on the "community" with more leniency on communication, players' interactions & clan options. There has been more emphases on "quantity" of pmods too. All this has produced both praise and disgust, depending on the values of individual players. Only time will tell where this takes the game of RuneScape. I do hope it will prove honorable to the general populace and promote praise from real world parents of the young & naive who play..
  20. AvatarGrega, thank you for starting this thread. I do appreciate the tips you gave. As for the needed runes taking up space, why not do it at the cw bank "prior" to refilling pouches? Paw_Claw, your tips are, also, good; however, you are incorrect about their only being 5 tree patches. There are 5 "regular" tree patches and there are, also, 5 "fruit" tree patches. There is also the Calquat tree patch and the Spirit tree patch. All this totals 12 tree patches. Regular tree patches: Varrock, Lumbridge, Falador, Taverly & Gnome Stronghold Fruit tree patches: Catherby, Brimhaven, Gnome Village, Gnome Stronghold & Lletya Calquat patch: Karamja near TB village Spirit tree: I placed mine at Brimhaven for easier running of my trees; but it can be placed at Ecte if you're doing bushes. Tip for getting charms if you don't have much time in game: Fight Bork daily. It takes less than 20 minutes and you get 5 blue, 7 crimson, 2 green & (if you also kill his little helpers) a few golds. Tip for making money: Collect the 64 battlestaffs each day (7k each) & sell at Ge for nice profit.
  21. Well, knock my socks off! I have some of those items you are all calling rare (Disk of Returning, Easter Egg, Red Mask, Red phat; and 3 santa hats). Different friends gave them to me years ago and I never really did any research on them....just felt good about their being gifts and enjoyed the looks of the items. Guess I ought to look into the RuneScape data base and find out something about them. (Never even heard about the "warship" until this thread; so will see if I can find that in DB too.)
  22. Why Jagex chose to create pmods and give them a crown identifying them seems quite obvious, at least to me. Jagex has let it be known in many ways it values a "family friendly" environment. RuneScape is such fun it brings in all kinds of people with all kinds of personalities and intentions. Sad to say not all of these intentions are wholesome; some are even dangerous to the more naive/innocent/young player. The jmods (Jagex staff) are too few to be of much value "inside" the game itself; thus pmods are the eyes and ears Jagex needs to let its jmod staff better understand what is occurring in the game (both the positive and the negative as they see it). In times past it became clear to many game players the pmods were reporting poor behavior; yet few players ever considered the positive aspect of moderating, i.e. to let Jmods know what the general populace needed to more fully enjoy the game. Many pmods spent the majority of their time doing just this. I have little doubt many of you have noticed pmods standing in the center of Varrock answering questions and helping all who wanted to be helped in some way. (Jmods started doing this as well last year.) Sure, this type of help can be given by players without the crown; but how many do you see doing it? Yes, some pmods may build their egos doing this; but surely there is room for doubt that all pmods are egocentric. I have seen non-mods helping others with all kinds of things from questing to skill leveling to staying alive in a fight, etc. I seriously doubt all do this just to be noticed and maybe be asked to wear a crown. I like to believe those players are helping because that is simply the type of people they are. I know of pmods who were reluctant to even accept the status yet did so only because it would lend more weight to the good being done, i.e. the compliment, the help, etc. Those pmods had a pretty good idea as to how wearing a crown would set them up in the eyes of some as an authority figure to rebel against; yet the positive of accepting the status outweighed the negative. Suffice it to say pmods (even jmods) are just people like us. We all have our weaknesses and our strengths; some encourage others to grow; some stifle the growth of others. Whether we wear a crown or not, we are who we are! It is my hope all will at least take as long a look at self as they do others as it just might be we need to curve some of our own intentions too.
  23. rofl .. I seriously doubt anyone would do one lap of agility and then wait an hour to do another. It takes 2-3 minutes (depending on your agility level & how many times you fall) to complete the Bandos Course. So do the math. Now David has moved over to Ape Atoll, running that course as a ninja .. no, not one lap per hour .. rofl. Even with his low agility level, he made over 60k experience in less than 2 hours. I would call that very good and worth the time invested in chargint the horn. (Since he has no interest in keeping a time card on this training and I have no time to sit and watch for very long, the number of laps made were not recorded; yet if any of you have trained at this course, you know it takes about 2 minutes to complete. Again, this horn seems to be worth it. At least David's experiences has persuaded me the time spent getting the "master" horn charged is well worth the time. (Also, if you are on a good team, it is fun!)
  24. David (my son) filled his "master horn"; then went over to Bandos Agility. With this horn, you get 5 exp for each statue and 700 for each grapple (total for full round was a little under 800 experience). This all averaged out to be about twice as much agility experience than you would get without the horn. Also, after about 3 hours of this, the horn still showed "full".
  25. Oh yes, I do know sending money is easier for individuals. I just don't trust most of the organizations gathering it. The news has stated millions have been gathered; however, the news does not "follow the money" to see how much actually gets to the Haitians. I am thinking the amount of money gathered could have already purchased a nice sized island and the Haitians be air lifted to it. Then part of the money gathered could be constructing whatever is needed for survival. I did not know that about the African President. Only the desparate would take him up on his offer; but then the Haitians are just that desparate. Sad! If what you say about 96% of the population being christian of some sort then the half practicing voodoo surprises me.
