I am into so many types of books that everyone I know is pressuring me to get into a single genre. Books I've Read Recently: Dead Man's Walk by Larry McMurtry -This a solid Larry McMurtry Western yarn that acts as a prequel for the Pultizier (sp?) Prize-winning novel Lonesome Dove, which was also excellent. Comanche Moon by Larry McMurtry -Also an excellent Larry McMurtry book which is a sequel to Lonesome Dove. The Stand by Stephen King -This book scared the hell out of me, yet ended up as my favorite book of all time. :ohnoes:  Summary: America is struck by a man-made disease (engineered as a weapon, but escaped from the lab) that killed all but less than 1% of the population. Half of the survivors flock to the banner of a 108 year-old women to band against the other half of the population, who joins up with one of the devil's minions in Las Vegas to try to wipe out the remaining free peoples of the country. The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay -Great book about a boy growing up in South Africa in the middle of apartheid (sp?). Shogun by James Clavell -Excellent read about Japan in the colonial area with lots of violence, deceit, and politics that lead to more violence  . The Belgariad and The Mallorean by David Eddings -Wonderful twin fantasy series with the same characters, whom you grow to love and admire fiercely. There are five books in each series, and I re-read them several times a year. Hopefully the books I described were not mentioned in previous posts, as I did not have time to read the entire thread.
