Hello, and welcome to what may be a possible item correction. I'm curious as to whether or not cooking gauntlets affect monkfish. While they are infact fish, the item DB doesn't specify cooking monkfish being able to benefit from wearing the gauntlets. Instead, many players choose swordfish in it's place on their way to 99 cooking, a fish that is more expensive and provides less xp. Asking around, I've gotten mixed answers such as: "No." "Yes." "Yes, because it is a fish." "Yes, because I know everything and take the game too seriously--brb, I hear my runescape ringtone." "No, because I know everything and take the game too seriously--brb, I hear my runescape ringtone." And, the most reasonable answer, "I don't know." If the answer is infact yes, then 99 cooking should become noticeably cheaper and it can be added to the cooking gauntlets list of fish. However, my understanding is that this is was a subject of somewhat heated debate in the past, though I have yet to see any data to support either arguement. I am expecting to hear "so and so tested it and the answer is ___" but as with any experiment/test, one or two people is not enough. The goal of this thread is not to debate, do not turn it into a debate - That means you and your teenage angst. The goal of this thread is to compile conclusive data from numerous people to determine who is right and present it to somebody with website editing privileges. Fortunately, it is worth your time because you are levelling cooking/fishing in the process. In order to help, you must be below the no-burn level requirement for monkfish without (And possibly with) gauntlets. Here's how you can help: 1- Get cooking gauntlets. If you have not completed family crest, you need to in order to obtain them. If you have lost your gauntlets, speak to Dimintheis in varrock for a replacement. 2- Get some raw monkfish. You can either fish them or buy them from the GE. I suggest buying 2000. 3- Cook a set amount of monkfish (1k if you followed the advice above) with the gauntlets, and cook a set amount without the gauntlets (The other 1k). I am unsure whether or not you have an increased burn rate when cooking on a campfire as opposed to a range (If you know for sure, tell me and I will edit appropriately), so in order to prevent skewed results, I'd prefer if you cooked on a range instead. Cooking guild is your best option for doing so. 4- Post data here. Include how many raw monkfish you cooked with gauntlets along with the amount you burned, how many you cooked without gauntlets and also the amount you burned. If you could seperately include the percentage burned it would be much appreciated, otherwise I can just calculate myself. I realize that this is a tl;dr post. If you took the time to at least read it, I certainly appreciate it. Happy cooking!
