Well, Blog Number 3, probably about a week later than I was planning on updating this blog. Getting that 50 Dungeoneering in the first week kind of knackered me out. So I slowed down a bit, and got myself 90 woodcutting. I think I was only about 200k off, and it's lovely and easy to train whilst watching television. In these 2 weeks, I also managed to convince myself that buying 1 month of membership was worth it, as it's cheaper than my normal lunch, and it lets me train skills with less effort (e.g. Ivy's, the Edgeville Furnace) As I mentioned in my first blog, I only want to train skills that I enjoy and are relatively easy to train. Unfortunately, I rather liked my all skills 70+ so I think I might end up training Dungeoneering a fair bit more. So then plan for the rest of the month: 82 Smithing Just so I can smith myself a Gorgonite Platebody. 71 Thieving & 80 Range Penguin Points have got to be spent on something. 60 Dungeoneering All skills 60+ would be very nice. 85 Smithing It is my favourite skill at the moment, cash might end up being a problem. Might even get round to doing some Woodcutting Okay so at least there was 1 picture this week. Hopefully there'll be more next week, well hopefully 60 Dungeoneering and 80 Range. Alkatrazdtd

I have all skills 50 + again, well if you exclude Dungeoneering I have all 70 or above, and I'm slowing getting there. I personally really enjoy the skill, although unless this 50% experience reduction for non-members is reduced or adapted, I may end up having to get membership. It does seem a little bit silly, there was a story recently about the UK General Election saying something about how a large amount of people don't actually understand tax, and how it is worked out. When told that people earning over £150,000 a year would have an extra band of income tax of 50%, some believed that this meant that they only received £75k, and a person earning £149,000 in the 40% band would receive £89.4k, £14,000 more. Now of course this is not the case, they are simply taxed 50% on the income above £150k. Does this sound a little bit familiar? A level 89 F2Per training Dungeoneering will gain, say 1200 base exp and 1200 prestige on a level, whilst a level 90, will gain 600 base, 600 prestige, with everything else the same. Whilst of course, there is no way of 'taxing' a player in the same way, it definitely doesn't seem fair to slap on a straight 50% reduction as you reach 90 combat. Now I'm sure Jagex will sort it out, there is always some sort of solution, whether it is: - A 1.5% reduction for each combat level 90+, which in my opinion would be the fairest solution, but not ideal - A reduction based on total, as members tend to have higher total level, of course this is not always the case, and shoots past members in the foot. - Higher levelled monsters and bosses in non-members, and a complete removal of the cap. Or, - The removal of all member doors, and doors requiring an impossible stat for non-members e.g. 104 Runecrafting as there are no potions on F2P. This solution would require the cap being kept, but would allow for non-members to get a higher bonus of levels, and therefore a slightly higher experience rate. Unfortunately, Dungeoneering is all I have been doing on Runescape this week, what with it being new, and it being my only skill under 70. And it's good fun. So once again this blog is about Dungeoneering. Maybe next time it will be different. And hopefully I'll get round to sticking some pictures in, so it's not just a huge block of text next time! In the meantime, it has been beautiful weather here in the UK, (I personally think it's something to do with the giant dust cloud) it certainly makes for a change from the dreadful weather we had earlier on this year. (As soon as the dust cloud moves away, I bet the rain, clouds and bad weather will return!) So for now I'll leave you with this suggestion: Similarly to how Members get Primal (Tier 11) Items as relatively rare items from bosses, I suggest Non-Members receiving Zephyrium (Tier 6) Items, as similarly rare, maybe rarer items from bosses, although it may give members another advantage in F2P, so once again the exp cap problem comes in again. Assuming you're constantly doing different floors, never doing the same one more than once in an entire play through of your available rounds, your prestige should be constantly rising. Once you find you've done all the floors, you'll need to reset your prestige, which will bring your current down to 0, but keep your previous as being what you had. After resetting, you need to start right from the first floor again and continue playing through all your possible floors to get your current prestige up again, but each time you complete a floor the prestige experience you get is based on your previous prestige (so long as it's lower than current), rather than your current. The key point is that after a reset you need to restart from floor 1 if you want to maintain a high standard of prestige. You don't need to restart at floor 1 once you have reset. You can do any floor you can once you have reset. Last time I reset, I did all the Furnished levels, to get them out of the way! And then went back to Floor 1 working up through Frozen and Abandoned.

It's a straight up 50% reduced exp for people over 90 combat on non-members worlds. In other worlds, take the normal floor exp and prestige exp, half them, then continue with exp calculations. So, if you're below combat 89 and F2P, you get the full floor and prestige EXP, but the moment you get to 90, you get 50% reduction, possibly slower than a fellow level 89 F2P player? That is correct. I'm quite surprised it was done this way, and it certainly gives lower levels an incentive to stay under 90 combat. I was expecting a gradual reduction, for example, 1.5% per level. Or perhaps even better to solve the problem, would be a total level based reduction, although this would very much shoot past members such as myself in the foot.

Thought I'd chuck in my F2P data, and from what I've noticed, there does seem to be a difference in the Floor & Prestige experience, when you have died or have not been in all the bonus rooms, so I've added that in, just in case it helps. For all the below: Combat 103, Total 1898, Small Size, Difficulty-1, Solo, 10% Level Mod Floor 22 Floor Exp 674 Prestige 23 Prestige Exp 730 Comments +0% Bonus, -10% Deaths Floor 23 Floor Exp 1379 Prestige 23 Prestige Exp 1379 Comments +13% Bonus, -11% Deaths Floor 24 Floor Exp 1496 Prestige 24 Prestige Exp 1383 Comments +13% Bonus, -11% Deaths Floor 2 Floor Exp 76 Prestige 23 Prestige Exp 1223 Comments +11% Bonus, 0% Deaths Floor 3 Floor Exp 104 Prestige 23 Prestige Exp 1303 Comments +13% Bonus, 0% Deaths

I have to say, I'm not the biggest fan of the Exp reduction, but I am interested in whether lvl 89s, get say twice as much experience as lvl 90s? Although I think like many Non-Members, just getting a new skill is quite a big thing! And I'd love to see a F2P guy reach 99 first. Similarly to how members get Tier 11 drops from bosses, I think it might be nice for F2P bosses to drop Tier 6 weapons and armours, just for us to work for something new to bind.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this previously in the thread, but I doubt it As a past member, I have 70 agility, whilst Dungeoneering (on FtP of course), I encountered an Agility based Room - ie with spinning blades etc, similar to Rogues Den. For some reason I was able to go past the obstacles and, managed to gain 750 agility experience. Here's a Screenshot from my RuneTracker page

Well blogging, I thought it might be a good idea to start one of these, it may encourage me to actually play. A little bit about me I started playing in Early 05 I believe, it was just after the release of Desert Treasure. I played a fair bit, and eventually joined members. Unfortunately, over time I gradually began to just grind levels for the sake of gaining levels rather than having fun, and ended up quitting for a good 6 months. Came back for a brief stint at the end of last year, but made the same mistake. The new plan is to do what I enjoy (and doesn't require too much concentration!) The 2 Big Changes Constitution, goodness that was strange being hit for high numbers such as 80, and expecting to be dead! But it certainly seems to work, and I think it was quite a good change. And of course, Dungeoneering, it's quite a weird skill,I'm rather glad it's F2P as I don't plan on getting members soon, unless the dungeons get too hard without the stronger weapons and armour. I can see why people don't enjoy the skill, and I agree it is similar to both Stealing Creation, and Barbarian Assault. But like all new skills I've experienced, it takes a while to get used to. But it's amazingly fast experience compared to the others. Farming: Oh goodness, how I hated this skill when it came out, IT, definitely took a long time to gain experience, as you needed seeds etc. Hunter: Hunter wasn't actually too bad for experience, and was probably the best skill release from the start, there was a lot of variation. I found it a good skill to level, albeit, the higher levels are a bit annoying, I personally didn't enjoy catching red chinchompas. Construction: Again, nice to train, yea it cost a bit of money, okay thats an understatement, a LOT of money. But still, wasn't too bad, relatively average experience gain. Summoning: Similar in some aspects to farming, but worse in a sense, as you needed to collect all the charms yourself, and lovely slow experience, but an amazing skill, I loved summoning, and it actually encouraged me to train combat. Dungeoneering on the other hand, as long as you have a team, it's actually gets rather fast to train. I managed level 30 on the release day, and made it to level 40 by today. I think I may take a break from it for a while, as I don't want it to become a chore. Well this blog entry has become more about Dungeoneering than I had planned, and therefore I'll name it such. I'm planning on updating this maybe once or twice a week, hope people enjoy reading my thoughts. Alkatrazdtd

Now I don't normally post on threads, I tend to just read them, and I have to say, TipIt has a wonderful community, and a real variety of opinions and personalities, which of course is very important, especially when updates are released, it allows people to get a better view of how the update affects different people. TipIt is my personal favourite fansite, but there are other fansites, and they too are often well laid out and informative just like TipIt. And after a quick read of some of the other sites listed high up on the ranks, I have to say they are quite respectable, and as with all fansites, for them to simply produce all these guides, calculators etc, it's brilliant for these sites to be recognised by Jagex. Now, I can see both sides of the view, but in my opinion, the positives far outweigh the negatives that people have mentioned. A real benefit of the fansite support, and is proved by Mod Hohbein posting here, is the potential for greater inclusion by Jagex staff, and getting their opinions on updates and what they think of the site. It will be great for the TipIt Community to communicate with the Jagex Staff. I don't claim to be an expert on running a website, but I feel that the Admins are doing the best for the site, and I personally do not see what the problem with removing other game ads from the site are, another ad will replace it surely? Besides, I'm sure a number of people use ad-blockers so they are unaffected from adverts, and the removal of adverts will make little difference. On a closing note, a month is not that long until the review date, and unless the new skill comes out in that time frame, what difference will it make being gold as opposed to platinum for this first month of this new system? So, congratulations TipIt guide writers, admin, and the community as a whole, this is something to be proud of, not to complain about.

I have recently trained my smithing from 70 - 75, I started off using iron ore - bars - plates, but i think i lost a fair amount of money, and it wasn't great experience. Swapped over to gold, you lose ~200gp per bar, but you get 56.2 exp per bar, and I was surprised by how easily the gold bars sold. I personally haven't tried the sacred clay hammers, but bear in mind, that the time getting the sacred clay could've been spent smithing, or getting money to pay for smithing.
