I think we should perhaps look from their perspectives really. You've lost your home, your lively hood and perhaps most if not all of your family and friends. (I'm not actually educated on the story so I'm sorry if I get some details wrong) but then I imagine they were shipped off to these colonies in space. They're of course not the same as Earth, you're pretty much homesick 24/7. People started getting annoyed throughout the colony by just the general emotional level that must have been on board, and still is. The government (We basically are) sure helped you get to this place, and obviously when you got there it must have been below satisfactory level for life, which further adds to the annoyance of thigns. The government then leaves you all to your own devices, forgetting one thing. These people practically just placed their lives in your hand and you have just left them (I'm not sure if you said goodbye or not, if you didn't then it's even worse). Now imagine what had gone on during your abscence. The gangs would have risen up, and of course the gang wars started. The more powerful factions having control over people, probably through drugs and general fear. This is your new home, a space station that has to compensate for Earth, your old home. People were beginning to fill with hate, total unguided hate. They needed something to express their hate on, and if they did it on themselves it would only end if further gang wars and death, they just looked over to the easiest thing to blame, which was you guys. The people who placed you here, the people who then left you there. Now I think us ever ruling over them and them liking us is so unlikely to happen we may have to count it as impossible. That place has so much corruption that it is illogical to think that we could fix it within the time allotted. What I think we may have to consider is instating a ruling class (which I think was previously stated as an idea). We would have to meet with every gang leader, most likely through comms. We need to interview them, see what type of government we're going to have to instate and then try to somehow, make them pro-us (it is generally easier to change a small group of people, so converting one gang will be easier). This sounds like corruption, and hell it is, but we're going to have to fund this gang to pretty much dominate the station. Their ideals will spread with their rule, and if the majority start becoming pro-us, then the space station will eventually be a safe place to go, but we will not control it once it reaches that point, we will merely be an influential member.
  2. I think I may hide under the cover of Ming until I can take their [cabbage] on.

Lee, we are already trying to hire medics and policemen but no one is applying (or they may have and so we're in the middle of training). I think a meeting with the strongest gang leader is the most viable approach to diplomatically solving this.
  4. Gosh darnit, I start doing pretty well in Japan, got a nice alliance going, conquered a Mallaca and was looking on for new wars to be dragged into, when all of a god damn sudden my game crashes, and I have autosave off :/.
  5. If you're going to play Tyrone, you need to check out the Tyrone AAR on the paradox website, Jesus christ it started out really good and then just turned into WAR.
  6. I'm playing generally cause I enjoy the game, although I never pass 50 years, cause I pretty much eff up completely with stupid decisions. :P
  7. But I suck in comparison to a person who has played this properly, heck I might pick a different country as the one I actually play, I just like playing as Japan.
  8. I had a funny ass game earlier. Again, playing as Japan. I started out pretty good this time, conquered Ryukku (who was also having a rebellion at the time), became number 1 trader in all of the three trade routes open to me and was on my way to becoming friends with the Vietnamese-esque countries. For the lulz I completely (and mostly accidentally) destroyed a trading centre country, it was quite small but I wanted to annoy them so they'd declare war on me, so I thought purposly using my huge amount of spies for evil purposes would have been a good idea. A rebellion completely destroyed them and everything, and another country saw their weakness, or just tried to save them from the rebels and conquered the rest of the country. Anywho, after my lulage, I entered an alliance with the neighbouring country and they dragged me into some war. When I finally was able to transfer my troops over, they only just reached the border of the country (it was near Nepal) when all of the other countries declared peace, leaving me in the fight alone, to which point I discovered that their country could not support my troops and I guess I was a little lucky they offered a white peace. Things got worse over time, I got obsessed with someone declaring war on me (as I had an army that rivalled Ming, it was for a mission (this also ultimately cost me my economy) So I lost my prestige to insults and claiming the throne of the previously mentioned small country (which then removed my stake to the throne), leaving me near -20 prestige, and only around 60 ducats. No one declared war on me, and I got bored cause I realised medieval Asia was an A-grade troll to glorious Japan.

SI was joking about that, and it's your duty as a medical officer to treat a crew member ASAP. So no, you weren't doing it out of kindness you did it out of obligation.

Lynx don't be rude to people. I was playing in my own play style that did not effect you until YOU ASKED ME TO HELP YOU, after insulting me. Which I then obliged, I then took a break from the game which turned into to long of a break to which point I imagined that the situation was too different for me to catch up on. Jeremiah is looking out for the posperity of the station and general well being. There's a reason he is acting captain. And my situation got outta hand cause people started to notice my problem (which wouldn't have even done anything to the ship if you guys just ignored it) and people were misunderstanding. Yes I guess it was dumb to pick up a weapon, but I have you know I was attacked first!
  11. Good luck Retech, cause Albert is being Portugal. I was thinking of being Ming, but that would be TOO OP'd XD (Entire continent to myself, strongest entity in there, do the math)
  12. Be portugal Conquer Castille ??? Profit.
  13. You could play as an Asian country :P.
  14. Icuownage replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
They're okay I guess, but that's not really relevant to anything. Anywho, I don't actually know what the problem is, can someone explain to me, I've recently started to pick up interest in this again and I'd like to ACTUALLY see if I can play again, as the original reason was cause I got bored of not knowing what the hell so I just thought of causing problems. So would someone care to explain?
  15. You know when I said my bad? I mean it this time, my bad XD.
  16. Oh my bad, I think if we use non steam, we may have to use a P2P program like Hamachi. Although it just seems easier for the people with the non steam version to make it steam version. Unless that may cause problems D:
  17. You can add games to steam. If you have the CD-key.
  18. God dammit! Just played my first game and I.... Blargh. Started off as Japan, pretty smooth sailing. First action is to become more narrowminded, for the colonisation benefits. Bam, people don't like that -1 stability. Northern island which has a different religion to me, has a mission to build a fort there. I do that, while also building up a few carracks for naval dominance. Notice little island nation to the south of me, decide to befriend instead of attack. Get to around 70 relation from a few gifts. Korea declares war on them, I try to gauruntee (hard spelling) independence, doesn't work, little friendly island nation is conquered, sad face. Anywho, mission got completed, navy starting to look pretty sweet now, name it the 'imperial fleet' and begin station it near a small island inbetween the southern and central Japanese islands. New mission to convert them to my religion, good freakin luck, 6% chance per year of converting. Anywho, begin befriending the nations where Vietnam are. Get into a ton of marriages (although I apparently only have one heir so wtf, pilagamy?). Start noticing trade, and become the highest in all three of my trade routes, so going okay I guess. Notice big chinese nation (the one that isn't Ming) has problems with their throne and has only one contender for the throne. My prestige is -1, so I can't do it. Oh yeah in this time of 10 years, I finally recieved my first colonist, which took FOREVER. Colonised further north, so all good. Anywho, throw a festival to gain prestige, get -5 prestige. Quit. Also @Spork France does NOT suck D:.
  19. Kayyy Also that colonisation one took me forever, was it meant to? I had to wait 50 years for Bermuda to become a core province before I could even begin thinking about Cuba.
  20. Ok after playing the tutorials that took a while, I began the first trial. Is it me or is that broken? The second objective 'move your troops in X to Y' was unachieveable. You completed the objective, but it wouldn't register you doing it. I did it over and over, and it just wouldn't register me doing it. I double checked everything :S. Also I have another problem, none of the flags appear, they're just black boxes. Anyone know how to fix that?
  21. Sounds a bit crazy for GCSE level stuff.
  22. I guess if I can play (cause yesterday, even though loading the game was quite terrible, when I actually got to the game, the game ran fine) I'll take Japan Just so I can stay away from the fighting.
  23. Well that comes under the territory of, when the first idea for anything ever came about it had to have been original. But then again you could always blow down that argument saying that the person was inspired by their surroundings. Such as a circular rock giving birth to the wheel. If you get what I mean. I just think that there has been an original idea atleast.
  24. Wouldn't that be incorrect considering that somewhere someone had to have the first original idea?
  25. All it literally does is load LOAD LOAD and freakin load. It is seriously the most annoying thing. The startup takes almost 10 minutes. To load a game is like what the hell crazy, and if I want to go back to the menu, JESUS. In my steam games it says I've played almost 100 minutes of it, no joke, atleast 80 minutes were taken up by loading.
