Can you explain how it's a bad idea without comparing it to barrows? The reason I don't like those armors is because not only is it very expensive to buy, it's also very expensive to use. Never mind, the reason is obviously because the dragon is so powerful. barrows is not very expensive to use, a torags platebody is 9.5m less expensive then a dragon plate body, and costs a maximum of 90,000 per 15 hours of use, or 6000 gp per hour. This means that with the money you would save by buying selling your dragon plate and buying a torags platebody, you could afford to use the torags plate for 1583 hours (66 straight days). And its a bad idea because its a worse, more expensive option.

If you're going to melee wear an antidragonfire shield, bandos or prossy top and bottom, and strength/attack boosting gear in every other slot. A stab weapon (read: NOT SCIMITAR OR BAXE) is preferred, with rapier being the best, if you do not have a rapier, brackish blade is probably the best. Pray melee and you're best attack+strength prayers. You'll get hit by his magic and dragon fire attacks for less then 100 damage. Additionally, if you have a zamorakian spear, you can pray mage with an antifire potion to block most of his fire attacks. This combined with kiting or a high melee defense setup (barrows+) means that you can use a more powerful weapon, without super antifires.

Sell Bandos/Fury/Guthans, buy 70 prayer+85 herb+68 summ, and a veracs skirt when you have time get a fire cape and rapier. Spend any remaining money on zerker ring>fury>BCP>Tassets
