Pfft. I don't care about unanswerable questions. Does where we go when we die matter in helping those alive? And what the hell would we do, should we discover what really created the universe? The universe exists. Morality and thought exist. All I do is thank someone for it, and have a chat with them when I'm feeling down. Belief in a greater, benevolent force and consciousness after death just makes living so much easier and more pleasant for those who don't overreact. I'm all for science and progress, but there will always be things essential to most of humanity as we know it that either can't or shouldn't be supplied by calculation. Anyways, Minecraft? :D

In my opinion, faith is one of the greatest motivating forces in existence. Religion is not opposed to progress by nature, rather by interpretation. Catholicism has the largest following on Earth, and it seems to me that it promotes more old-fashioned styles of thinking. It might not help that the Popes are usually elderly, they will likely be a few decades behind the times on their own, and encouraged to continue in the path of their predecessors. The three Abrahamic religions are mired down in history, going on morals and interpretation of teachings hundreds of years old. I myself am Christian, mostly because of my family and the fact that I know next to nothing of other religions. I intend for it to be a topic of study later in my life.
