Jen got arrested and replaced, after driving her ship into the Unity. There are quite a few folks onboard the ship at this point. If overcrowding becomes an issue, we can always find places for our less-desired crewmembers though. Especially since we've begun carving out a base and shipyard in an asteroid back in good old Sol. Archi, I like Battlefield Bad Company 2. It's extraordinarily balanced, has good, practical pacing, and a nice diversity of styles. For example, some people are demons with knives, drills, and defibrillators. Some people can hit a target cross-map the size of a pin onscreen. Some people can bring the walls down on you with RPGs. And some people, like me, will have the enemy team finding C4 in places they didn't even know existed. I'm also a fair hand at shotgun marksmanship, I essentially have the effective range of a sniper. And I do great supply and revive support.

It seems people have begun encrypting all their diary entries, reading the diaries of others, and then arguing the information they learn. I'm tempted to simply remove diary privileges for the crew, even if I have to hack my way through AI security to do it. - Officer Faust

Zharon, hooded and mysterious in a similar fashion to yourself, leads the band. He took the original contract that led to the formation of your company, and now he travels with you as a manager, a general non-combatant. Tiyk, a young women with lean muscle and a short stature, keeps lookout from the trees. She is a Leaper, a scout and ranger trained from childhood to traverse the tree canopies that coat Lestrai. Kessin, rugged and strong, oils and sharpens his weapons. He makes a fitting quartermaster, possessing experience with a considerable array of lethal implements. Zharon and Kessin discuss where they will next look for a mission. Some of the local villages, or a big city? Kessin suggests they could act as bandits, incapacitate a caravan and make off with easy earnings. Zharon seems conflicted, and asks you and Tiyk for your opinions. Tired. Earth. It takes one arm to carry, doesn't encumber you more than an AP rifle, is a close-to-the-arm sleeve, and the wires reel back quickly enough that there aren't really good opportunities to get a shot in. It's like an electrified, super-strong, recoiless shotgun that uses retractable shots. Why do you keep saying that it's weak? It isn't, I thought of all the problems you pointed out and I corrected them.

How many times must I tell you. It can punch holes through a Panzer, deliver lethal voltage, and knock out electronic systems. It's better than an AP rifle by far in close combat, especially in ship corridors. Perfect boarding weapon. Regardless of what you say, I am restating what the AI said. For as long as we observed the field, it expanded at the same speed.

Earth, that is incorrect. The blob's expansion is stable at just under 2x lightspeed. I think the Unity warp drive operates outside of conventional space/time, so it takes 7 years to reach our destination in normal time despite, only a month having passed for us. That would also mean we don't encounter the blob until warp is disengaged. I think it's just some sort of field, possibly shutting down electronics or concealing its contents. My guess would be that the actual biomass is what Earth released, no more. It simply doesn't make sense that an organic being could expand that fast. Perhaps it's like that one episode of The Outer Limits, where an audio frequency was broadcast from a distant solar system that changed humans, sometimes damaging them but ultimately mutating the race so they could survive the changing sun and new environment.

Ross, in case you forgot, it's the size of multiple solar systems now. The biomass was estimated to have reached Sol by the time we returned to Earth.

My attempt at overriding the AI failed, but Theros came just in time and was granted a battlefield promotion to commander. Theros and I are now attempting to combat the biomass in the only way we know... we're bombing it. Everything we've got is going into this. If the test explosives we just launched have any effect on that thing, I'm given up the BLITZ Array to be repurposed as a bomb. It's all or nothing now.
