  1. I think that the main thing that makes the Battle of Lumbridge so spectacular is that we can expect this to be normal from now on--for us to have constantly changing weekly content for the rest of Runescape's lifetime, and in return only give up one update every ten weeks. (World Event launch days seem to take up a Major Update slot, if this is a precedent.) It's a pretty amazing thing considering the update schedule we were formerly used to. Remember, these World Events are going to be going on whilst everything else is--Divination, the four new Sixth Age quests they want to release by the end of the year, and gods know what else is up Jagex's sleeves. Not to mention the fact that Jagex wanted Divination to be tied into world events--meaning that the current "chop/fish/mine nodes for tears" setup seems to be only a temporary workaround for the postponed Divination release. Who knows what format the future world events will be in. I highly doubt every single event will be an all-out war like this one is--especially if it was something like Seren vs Zaros, of which neither side seems to be particularly interested in the use of enormous armies of mindless warriors. But yeah, just my thoughts. As it is, it's a nicely designed temporary minigame that changes week to week and has nice rewards--but I think the future will hold things that are even more interesting. This is an entirely new kind of update--and like minigames, skills, and quests, there will be a constant evolution of different variations on the same idea. Also note that we have not yet seen the end of these events--I imagine that the winning god will, as Jagex has said in the past, alter the land he has won to fit his image. I wonder if Saradomin will build a giant fortress where the crater now stands and expand Lumbridge up to it, or something along those lines?
  2. Anyone else remember this? Hopefully we'll get to see them sooner rather than later. I imagine that will be one of the possible Reinforcement Unit choices that we will get to vote on in the coming weeks to bolster Saradomin's army. :D We get to choose four of them apparently. That, or it will show up for the final day in the all-out showdown, considering it's classified as an "uber". If you go into your Settings, under Controls there is an option to chance the Camera Mode from "Classic" to "RS3". The "RS3" Camera is smoother than the normal one--by a ridiculous amount. I think it was intended as Default, but is not default for the Java client for some reason.
  3. Logging onto a F2P world with the gloves/boots still has them at Level 75, with full normal stats. Examine is the same and I can re-equip them so they aren't members items. Safe to say that the rest of the set will be the same way. Might be a glitch, but it seems like it's intended so far.
  4. The official wiki's Jagex-created page for the t75 version of the armor says yes. I think it's pretty safe to say it's the best F2P armor in the game right now. Interesting.
  5. It depends. It's pretty much completely free (minus a little bit of opportunity cost) full Dragon armor with an added 6% chance to only take 10% damage from enemies. Considering it's hybrid-class armor, that's pretty crazy imo. If you can't afford other armor, or get into situations where hybrid armor works best, then yeah it's definitely worth it. Not to mention it looks pretty badass. :P
  6. The Faction High-Scores seem to still be very glitchy. It wasn't until very late yesterday that they showed Saradomin's stats at all :P Some time during the afternoon yesterday they fixed it and it seems like it is counting the before-fix and after-fix amounts as additional for the Zamorakians that did show up. (Still doesn't explain the extra 6 on the leaders for each side) I would imagine that Jagex is looking into it.
  7. The source of the Tears of Guthix--which has turned into the crazy vortex thing at the center of the crater because of Guthix's death releasing his life energy freely into the world. Basically he was looking for power.
  8. Basically, they are part of a new Hybrid armor set (No weakness, but slightly weaker than other armor of the same level) that scales to your level (Automatically changing to be Level 25, Level 50, or Level 75 depending on your defense level). It has a set bonus with a chance (3% chance with 3 pieces worn and 6% chance with all pieces worn) to reduce damage taken to 10% of the original amount. In other news: Jagex now as an Official Runescape Twitch.TV Channel. According to the frontpage article, they will be using it to tease new updates and show beta testing of future content in the coming weeks. Right now it's just Mod Dean playing Barrows with the community, but apparently tonight at 10:00 PM BST there will be a talk with Mod Phoenix about phoenixes? Unsure if they mean new Phoenix content or just a silly discussion about the birds themselves :P
  9. The kind of new features and changes needed to "fix" Fixed Screen into something a bit more usable for people with tiny computer screens will take longer than a day. I'd say expect some usability changes within a week or two. Until then, it's pretty simple to add/remove/shrink most of the interface features to get something that you can use a bit better than the default setup. I'm not sure if the increased spawn rate for Battlefield soldiers was included in this system update or not--anyone noticing a crazy amount of soldiers fighting each other now?
  10. While fighting the opposing faction's NPCs, you will occasionally get broken items (Greathammer, Bow, and Orb) that you can spend 1000 of those fragments to repair into a cosmetic override.
  11. According to the Official Wiki, both sets of Warpriest armor have a set effect, with a percent chance to reduce incoming damage to 1/10th of the original amount. With three pieces of the set it starts at 3%, but with the full set it increased to 6%. Quite interesting and useful in certain situations--maybe we will be seeing more set effects like this in the future?
  12. It appears that there are some random rewards you can obtain through collecting tears. jumpingsuits from /r/runescape seems to have found a title through this: There's also a huge list of random events, JMod events, and other interesting things that can potentially happen on the official wiki.
  13. Multiplier decreases as you get closer and closer to your cap of tears for the day. The cosmetic overrides seem to be Infernal and Icyenic Greathammers, Orbs, and Bows.
  14. I don't think the Battlefield will change gods weekly--it will continue to be Zamorak and Saradomin for the full extent of the event. There is tiers of "reinforcement units" and sided buffs that aren't unlocked yet for both sides. The next World Event in two months will include two new gods, and happen in a completely new location, with presumably completely new rewards and methods. Considering that Divination will be out by then, they will probably have that implemented as the primary Tear source like they planned.
  15. Some interesting tidbits: The HAM Camp is now located east of the River Lum where the old-but-post-Tutorial-Island Mining Tutorial used to be. It has been graphically updated and has a new logo :o The Tree Plot is now located in the houses east of the castle instead of its old place west of it, because that part has obviously been turned into a giant battlefield geyser crater demonic-angelic wormhole. Talk to Duke Horacio to cast your vote in how to restore Lumbridge next week. You get some Bonus XP in a skill of your choice for this--it works like the Holiday Event BXP where it doubles the XP gained from skilling for a certain amount of XP. I got 14k BXP for it.
  16. I too remember the Noon BST releases :P Whenever it would go past noon everyone would know it was delayed a day. This was before the Jmods really updated us on update delays/times as much as they do now. Until one of the skill updates (Construction? Summoning? Not sure which) that ended up happening around about 2 BST and people were confused.
  17. I think 2010 and 2011 were definitely good years for updates, but all of those are exactly the same in the current game still :-k I mean, I can see how someone overwhelmed by nostalgia would want an '06 server, but not an '11 one..
  18. To be fair, it's never really been a tower :P Unless three stories is what counts as a tower. The only reason it ever looked like one is because our screens weren't big enough to see the top of it for quite some time. I thought HTML5 was not coming out on the 22nd. Correct me if I'm wrong please. That must be really disappointing for Jagex, having oversold themselves and not being able to use all the shiny new graphics in the shiny (once off presumably?) event. The HTML5 client will still be available as an option on the 22nd, it will just have a "BETA" tag stuck on it. It will still be able to be used with the live game (as it is now), but it won't be the default and recommended option because of how only about 40% of players can run it with a usable framerate at the moment. Jagex was hoping to have the HTML5 client in a polished enough state that they could afford to have the Java Client option as a tiny little button hidden somewhere at the side of the page where new players won't see it--now it's going to be the opposite for launch day.
  19. I don't think the pictures are really meant to show any teasers for the world event (The previous Lumbridge one already did that) or reveal any new details--and instead just show areas that look particularly amazing with HTML5. Considering how many updates are happening at once on the 22nd, I guess they are putting out teasers for each of them.
  20. There have been many cults of Zamorakians hoping to bring Zamorak back--the evil-elves are just one of them. Zamorak left so quickly that none of his followers seemed to know where he went to--even Bilrach only stumbled upon him by pure chance. They all decided to find a way to get him back, and all (but one!) of them failed to figure out the way to get him back. :P So no, no plot holes--just Elves being as clueless as we were.
  21. Seems like there's an Area Status window in the NIS since the latest update--or at least I haven't seen it previously. Guessing it has to do with world events, and which gods have control of which places. Gonna be fun to see the world change around us depending on the gods that win :D
  22. Here's a page on RS Wiki listing all of the graphical changes to monsters in the game. (Make sure to use the little arrow button to expand the table if you can't see both rows!) I would pay particular attention to the Abyssal Demon (Only got a recolor, oddly enough!), Killerwatts (One of my favorite Slayer Monster re-designs), and Wallbeasts (Which are a lot more terrifying, especially now that we know where they came from). I'm excited to see what they all end up looking like after the second set of graphical updates Every time there's a graphical update to monsters, I always have to stop and marvel at how much more compelling they make the designs feel. Slayer was pretty much the first major update after I joined RS, and I will always remember how exciting the first day was. It has a special place in my heart. Ah. I know of those pages. There are only about a dozen images that work, though! Oh, seems like you're having some weird firewall/connection/something issues with RS Wiki. Interesting. Here's an imgur mirror of all the slayer-specific ones (With the Chaos Elemental thrown in for good measure!) because I have nothing else better to do with five minutes of my time on a lazy Sunday. :P

  24. There's definitely a lot of Slayer monsters that could use an update still. I for one eagerly await the Abyssal Demon rework they showed in the BTS for the Slayer Tower rework. And yeah, there's been a graphical upgrade for pretty much every slayer monster at least once in the past five years. I still remember the horrifying monstrosities that Banshees used to be. Dustdevils are pretty much the only ones that haven't--I can't think of any others that haven't even had a recolor.
