  1. Still have to kill Sunfreet. After unlocking all other achievements I was like, "OK hopefully this is nice, fun, and relaxing compared to finding all the journals." Then I saw that I can't hit over 500 on Sunfreet, rolled my eyes, and logged out :P Also, is Flambeed supposed to hit over 3000 with every attack?
  2. Keep a 12-pack of bottled water in your car as well as some peanuts. If you're hungry/thirsty while you're out, they'll prevent you from wasting money on unhealthy foods.
  3. Look into skin-fold calipers. Also, http://www.4hourlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Estimate-your-body-fat-Eyeballing-It-Male.pdf
  4. "Oxhead" and "Horseface" sound like nicknames you'd give to ugly girls if you were a bully.
  5. I use this. It may or may not be valid, but at least it's reliable.
  6. Updated dating profiles again and changed how I do things a little bit. Pre-update: 5% of my openers led to a scheduled date. 0.7% of my openers led to an actual date Post-update: 7% of my openers lead to a scheduled date 7% of my openers lead to an actual date (!!!!) Small sample size right now though, and I don't keep track of whether or not a girl's online when I message her. If she's online, the odds of her responding go way up.
  7. Keep in mind this advice is coming from a skinny guy who's never been concerned with his weight, so take it with a grain of salt :P I think it would be easier to just focus on one thing at a time. Your first goal should be to get down to a certain bodyfat percentage and/or bodyweight, and then focus on getting stronger or building muscle mass. In your case it's more a matter of diet than working out.
  8. (Shrug) Jagex be crazy :P
  9. How does going past 99/120 "grow" your account in any meaningful sense? There are no levels, no abilities, and nothing tangible at all. The completionist cape, however, is a tangible and official (well I suppose 5B is semi-official given Jagex's support of it) indication of having "completed" the game. If numbers, particularly those that won't even yield levels, is your goal, you could just as easily track your experience on a spreadsheet and go on forever (much like those people who don't stop at 2.1B, but instead keep amassing wealth and storing it through trickeries), why stop at 5B? Mind you, I'm not here (this time at least) to talk about any of the people pursuing this, but I find the argument that 5B is the true mark of completion of the game to be silly and unfounded, and wholly imaginary. Its like getting max level in any other game. Thats it no more. Not to mention the abitrary requirement of 5k cwars games is a little stupid. How is that anymore "complete" then getting 5b? Because it unlocked the CW professional cape prior to completionist. Same reason 4k chompy kills is on the list.
  10. XP rates aren't necessarily relevant to the grind. Doesn't matter if you get 10k xp/hr or 1m xp/hr-- if the training method doesn't excite you and make you have fun, then I consider it a grind. If you don't keep returning to that training method just for fun after accomplishing your goals, it's probably a grind. If you have to watch Netflix while you train to keep you from getting bored, it's probably a grind.
  11. I bought a jade golem simply as a replacement for my chimera since it has better stats. Rallying cry was nice though.
  12. ...there is literally a cape called the "completionist cape." People obtain it every day. .....yeah that was really smart of you Thanks I made myself lol when I posted it :P My point still stands though. Future updates are irrelevant.
  13. I'll probably give a point-by-point response tomorrow, but in the mean time I'll just restate that in the past, yes, there was no way to "complete" RS. People like Zezima were the only ones thought to have completed it, and they were extreme outliers. But nowadays... ...there is literally a cape called the "completionist cape." People obtain it every day.
  14. If being around her despite being in the "friendzone" doesn't make you unhappy, then don't worry about when to contact and all that BS. If being around her makes you unhappy, cut off ALL contact, PERMANENTLY. It sucks, but you'll be happy you did it. Random thought (not particularly directed at you): by "losing" that "one girl," you "gain" the possibility of 3.5 billion women. Don't think of it as losing someone, think of it as gaining new positive experiences. :)
  15. If you wanted her to come over, you should've just said something along the lines of, "cool, you're welcome to come join us if you want" It's basically a non-needy way of inviting her over :P And then if she comes over, great. If she farts around and is indecisive or doesn't come over, then that's fine too. But yeah if you're not interested for whatever reason (such as her boyfriend), then radio silence is the best course of action.
  16. I agree... sorta. As time goes on, the "super high XP" rates also have to adjust accordingly. For example, hunter and thieving are like 240k XP/hr... yet I can't stand them. If they were 500k XP/hr, I probably wouldn't mind as much. Plus the fact that I "need" to get 91 thieving for PoP and elite tasks (as opposed to, say, level 80) makes me uninterested in training thieving.
  17. Look, if you don't like grinding then go play a different game - it's that simple. No, it's not. Different parts of the game cater to different people. Back in ye olde days, that was one of the game's strengths. Replacing those other play styles and niches with grinding alienates the players that favored them. Deletion does have a valid point, in that it's the player's responsibility to quit if he/she is no longer having fun. I'm not arguing with that. The point I'm trying to make is that the grinding aspect is generally a flaw in the game which ultimately harms the game more than it benefits it, and therefore changing that aspect would benefit Jagex and the community. The game as it stands now has shifted more towards necessary grinding and less towards fun and balance like in the past. I don't really care if RS dies tomorrow, for whatever reason. But for those of you who are still heavily-invested in the game and/or enjoy the grind, then it would be in your best interest to consider what long-term effects this emphasis in grinding is having on Runescape's lifespan. As I've said before, I believe emphasizing and encouraging grinding contributes to the game's ultimate decline. I think I'm done discussing this for now. :P
  18. I could be misunderstanding you (correct me if that's the case), but you seem to be saying: >Grinding has always been a core part of the game; >Grinding isn't necessarily good for the game; >>Therefore it's ridiculous to try and do something about the grind because it's always been that way. If that's what you're saying, then I think that's ridiculous, and we'll have to agree to disagree. But I do think we're generally on the same page here.
  19. I agree with everything except for this. Just because the game was built on the premise of grinding, does not mean that grinding is good for the game. Grinding might be alright in smaller doses, but as the game's expanded, so has the grinding. --- Reposting an unanswered question from a previous post for everyone to answer: Is anybody here actually against making the game more fun instead of grindy? And yes, I understand that fun and grind are subjective terms, but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say.
  20. I've discussed the psychology behind that here and here in the past (don't bump). TL;DR: They tolerate grinding (or they don't and bot instead) because they think it'll make them happier. But it usually doesn't. If you're talking to me personally, I only grind on RS when I've got an audiobook to listen to/study because it ironically keeps me more focused. :P I've also still got a few close friends on RS who aren't on Facebook, so I'll chat/hang out with them for a bit.
  21. What's your point? :P Just because all other MMOs are grindy at high levels doesn't mean that's a good thing, or that RS should be that way too.
  22. Exactly. Which is why when I get on RS, if something sounds unpleasant or grindy, I simply don't do it because it's a waste of my time. And I also understand that by refusing to participate, I waive my right to complain about the things I'm unable to achieve as a lack of my unwillingness, which is why I also never complain about such things :P My basic point, though, is that yes grinding was always part of RS. But prior to things like skillcapes, the grinding was under control because people never actually considered training beyond level 85 or so. Jagex released incentives to grind to 99, without really making the grind more tolerable/enjoyable. Things like Runespan were a good start; much better than the previous training methods. But at the end of the day, does anyone really say, "I'm bored. I kind of wanna go to the Runespan, that sounds like fun." Does anybody keep going back to the Runespan after they hit 99 runecrafting? It's too late to remove the incentives for high-commitment accomplishments. But it's not too late to make the process much more fun and enjoyable. Quick question: is anybody here actually against making the game more fun instead of grindy? And yes, I understand that fun and grind are subjective terms, but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say.
  23. They're both. They influence each other. If one refused to participate, the other would follow suit.
  24. 1) Not everybody thinks the same thing is fun; people bot nearly every game, including single player games. Changing the game won't remove RWT unless you make everything free. Remove RWT altogether? Probably not. Heavily damage it? Probably. Right now RWT/botting is like a bee hive with a bunch of bees flying around stinging everybody. Jagex seems to think the best solution is to keep killing each bee one at a time or keep spraying everybody with bug repellant, rather than, you know, destroying the hive itself. The game shouldn't be changed because some people cheat; the game should be changed because it can't keep up like this forever unless it makes some major core changes. EoC was a good place to start, even though it's still full of flaws. In the past, 1 hour of playtime benefited you more than 1 hour of playtime now. If that makes sense. When Jagex keeps making updates along the same train of thought as they do now, then that hour of playtime continues to get devalued. But as you know, my other point is that the hours of playtime are irrelevant if they're spent having fun where you lose track of time spent playing. But the game's current core structure doesn't allow that. Not really sure what your point is here.
