  1. I can't imagine not rinsing dishes after washing them. Don't want to taste soap in my food.

So the hard part about rolling these dice is the recording part. My professor originally told people to just tally on a paper what numbers show up. This involves also tallying the sum of the three die, which takes a few seconds (which definitely is significant in this situation). But I didn't feel like writing tick marks down and doing all that shit. So I wrote a super quick program in Python so that now I just have to enter in the numbers that show up on the three dice (in a specific order) and it does everything for me. Definitely cuts the time down a lot!

  2. So, I had originally chosen a one credit elective. It was League Bowling and I had a few friends doing it with me. Then, shit came up, and they all dropped it. So, I decided to sign up for another one credit physical education elective titled Fitness and Conditioning. So we'll see how that goes. Twice a week at 7:00am for an hour. I already missed the first class because it was today at 7:00am and I hadn't been registered for it at the time.

Hopefully that'll help me stay fit during the semester.

  3. Coming back to my house up at school for the school year to find it completely trashed. Shower has black/orange/pink grime EVERYWHERE, absolutely no clean dishes or pots or pans, sink is full of that stuff, covered in grime, preventing anything from being washed even if i wanted to wash it.

In short, I can't shower because there's no way I'm stepping into that thing, and I can't cook. And my housemates will do nothing about it. They're [bleep]ing pathetic.

  4. We Won't Stop - Miley Cyrus!

For some reason, this song, even though it's supposed to be a party song, doesn't give me a good feeling vibe at all. It's actually quite depressing, and most of the song I can't even understand what she's saying. My sister told me at one point in the song, she says, "We run things things don't run we." I'm like.... Wooooooooooooooow.

  5. Got a hair cut today. The lady put gel in it without me asking.

My thoughts were, "What, am I like, 12?" But I knew her intentions weren't bad at all. I'll end up washing it out in a bit anyway to get rid of all the little hair snippets still on my head and neck.

On the final leg of packing my stuff up. Last to go will be my PC and Xbox. I'll still want to use those tonight since I'll be bored otherwise.

  6. I don't understand how people can waste so much time on Facebook. I log in, scroll down my newsfeed (I don't read the news because it's too depressing; if something really "important" is going on, I can guarantee my friends will be posting their thoughts on it... and then I'll search Wikipedia about it if it seems interesting/important), and then I get off.

I log in, check to see if it's anyone's birthday that I care about, and log back off, lol. Useful for birthdays and notifying housemates about bills.

Since I'm usually up all night and can only really watch Youtube videos to pass all that time, I hate seeing the same ads at the start of every video. You're Next seemed interesting, but now I'm ignoring it out of spite.

Get Adblock Plus for whatever browser you're using, it's a free addon that blocks youtube ads lol

Yeah, some of those ads are real annoying. For a time, that stupid ad for Parker was on all the time, and it looked like such a dumb movie, too. But, I don't get Adblock or any ad blocking add on because most of the videos I watch are authored by people who I want to support financially, and they get money from those ads. Same with twitch stuff. I'm fine with enduring 30 seconds of an ad if it means I'm supporting a YouTuber whose content I enjoy.

  7. Moving up to school this Friday. Little brother is attending the same college as I am, which will be interesting to say the least.

Not excited to go back to a complete mess and trash bin of a house thanks to my housemates. I'm literally the mother when I live there. Nothing stays clean unless I force the other guys to clean up after themselves or do it myself. I really don't want to be "that guy," but they don't really give me a choice, heh. Start school next Tuesday. Already have all my textbooks, so I don't have to worry about that. Only taking 12 credits, but all but 1 credit are upper division physics, math, and computer science classes, which I'm sure will keep me just as busy.

On the bright side, I'll be back living with friends, which is kinda cool. It sucks, though, because a lot of their interests have changed (they love day drinking, smoking weed, etc.), and I don't do that stuff. So I'm kinda on my own without a major friend group. That's why I'm leaning towards maybe getting bigger into PC gaming and making some cool friends there, since that's what I find fun and enjoyable.

    Anyway, random post from me.

  8. I saw Elysium earlier. It felt rushed, and underdeveloped. Not to mention a few other things too, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it.

I feel the same way. The idea was pretty cool, but the movie definitely didn't take full advantage of it. Entertaining movie, but I would have liked to see more out of it. 7.5/10

I also went to see 2 Guns. Denzel has always been a favorite actor of mine, and Mark Wahlberg was pretty good in Shooter, so I was excited for it. Definitely entertaining and very funny at parts. None of the action or punch lines seemed forced (like they did in A Good Day to Die Hard). I went in having completely forgotten the plot (or what the plot seemed to be from the trailer), so the number of twists were fun to experience. 9/10

And i saw Planes with my nephews and older sister. Many similarities to Cars, obviously. My nephews really liked the soundtrack, so they were playing the air guitar throughout the movie. They enjoyed it a bunch.

  9. Sorry it took so long to get these posted. Wasn't in too big of a rush. Spent an entire night building it (pulled an all-nighter). Everything kept me pretty interested until installing Windows and the updates, which was a lot of just sitting around.

Motherboard with CPU. The microATX was fine in the end. Glad that ended up working out.

Did an external build to make sure things worked. Fortunately, had no hiccups!

Final product of inside of the case apart from all the wires i wired through the back.

Haven't been able to utilize this computer much yet. But I'm able to watch YouTube videos in 720p and 1080p, watch twitch streams flawlessly, and Smite runs smoothly, too. Hooray!

  10. About two weeks left until school starts again. Done with work as of now, so I've been going to the gym/exercising more regularly now that I have more time.

I bike 25 miles every other day, which is refreshing. But I went out and bought some expensive running shoes since at school I won't be able to bike at all. So i'll be hitting up the track for cardio now.

  11. Fuuuuuuuuuuuck. Just realized my motherboard is a microATX. My case supports it, but I have no clue if all my parts will fit on it. So frustrated right now. Because I can't return it for a refund either. So either it will work with my stuff, or that's $170 wasted plus another $200 for a different full sized motherboard.

This first build has gone terribly wrong. Could any of you give me any feedback about whether my components will still fit on the board? I'm only running one gpu, which means I don't need that SLI stuff, whatever that is.

    thanks guys

Well, here's most of the stuff aside from the OS. The box I received everything in except the case was pretty banged up unfortunately, and the processor box is kinda beat up as well. I'm hoping the rough transit didn't screw up any of my parts. Cause that would make me angry.

Here's a public wishlist with everything I bought (save for OS, thermal paste, and replace case with case in previous post).

Honestly, I'm just really scared right now to start building it because I have a feeling I'm going to be one of those unlucky people who get broken parts and have to wait weeks on end to get the RMA processed and get new parts. I'd freak out if something didn't work on the way. Not knowing much about this stuff, I'd be completely lost as to what might be broken and why.

Anyways, can't start tonight. Not enough time. I'll post more pictures as the process goes.

Still need to find something to use as my monitor besides my 22" LCD tv. Also, I have to figure out this internet connection issue. Still debating on ethernet cable vs. wireless card. I don't know if a 200ft ethernet cable is long enough for my house up at school.

    I'll stop jabbering now.

  13. Just finished reading Speaker for the Dead, the second book in the Ender Quartet. I think it's because I've read all of the books already that I was so much more into this book while re-reading it. I caught a bunch of stuff I didn't catch the first time, and I was much more invested in the characters and the plot since I knew the importance of it having reading what happens in the future.

Also, I don't think this is a spoiler, but after Speaker for the Dead, Ender kind of becomes a lesser character and I feel that his "end" in the fourth and final book is very ordinary and not as special as I wanted it to be. What I liked about Speaker for the Dead was that even though Ender was older, he was the main character still, and he still kicked some serious ass. His relationships with the other characters in the book are also super interesting.

I probably got more teary-eyed and worked up during this book than any other book.

Perfect 10/10 from me. I liked it more than Ender's Game after reading it the second time. Also, funny thing is the ideas behind Speaker for the Dead were more interesting to Card than those in Ender's Game, and he only wrote Ender's Game so that he could write Speaker for the Dead. The plot twists and the thought behind them really brings my respect for Card and his writing to a whole new level.

  14. I've got an OS on order from Amazon. 10 dollars cheaper than newegg, heh.

So someone on another forum told me the case I chose was pretty outdated (8 years) even though I saw tons of people still buying it and saying it was good.

"I would look at a Corsair 200R or CM HAF912 for the case. The original 300 is like 8 years old now, and it really shows in the hard drive and power supply mounting. Not a very generous fan compliment for the money either."

Not sure what he meant by the last part. Either the fans in the case aren't very good, or he didn't like my choice of aftermarket CPU fan. So, I decided to eat the restocking fee once I get the case and send it back. Ordered the other popular case, the COOLER MASTER HAF series RC-912-KKN1 Black SECC/ ABS Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case.

When I get all the parts, I'll probably sit down for a good part of the day and take my time putting it together. Going to do an external build because I see that a lot of people do them to make sure parts are not dead. I'll definitely have my laptop to look at youtube videos on putting it together, haha. Already watched the newegg ones. Probably going to go back to those. But I'll apply the thermal paste using the pea method and just letting the heatsink spread it. I don't plan on overclocking (really have no idea what it is and if I would want to do it) and apparently a few air bubbles aren't too bad if you're never going to overclock.

  15. The Hyper 212 EVO supports the 1150 socket since the 1155 and the 1150 share the same mounting bracket holes. That's also true for all "1155-compatible" heatsinks.

Alright. I had done a bit of searching on if that was actually the case. Seems like the majority of people say that, so I'm going to go with it. It's kinda dumb that they don't have it officially stated anywhere (or if it is, I can't find it).

Going to place my order tonight. Pretty nervous since it's the most expensive thing I will have bought to date (xbox 360 slim was the previous record holder). I'll definitely take a few pictures of it before, during, and after the building process. I'll post some of them here for fun.

LET'S PRAY FOR NO DOA OR GENERALLY DEFECTIVE PARTS!!!

EDIT: Placed the order. Then realized I should probably buy some thermal paste, so bought that too in a separate order because it was too late. Most if not all of the stuff should get here by late next week.

  16. The build overall is good. No glaring issues I see, that GPU is powerful enough to do high settings on pretty much all games out right now. PSU is more than enough to handle the hardware.

Since you're interested in gaming, I would recommend ditching the stock heatsink that comes with the CPU and buying something a bit more beefy. Heatsinks aren't all that expensive and are worth the investment if you're planning on gaming and want to protect your CPU investment. I've had really good performance on my Hyper 212, and it's only +$33. Well worth it.

As far as wireless goes. If you have the option of running a hard wire, then I always suggest doing that route. A wired connection is ALWAYS more stable than a wireless. That being said, it's easy to buy a PCIe wireless NIC and have it in your PC just in-case your situation changes. I wouldn't recommend bridging via your laptop or other device as you will usually get worse performance than a good NIC, and it's nice not needing your laptop to connect to the internet.

The NIC you linked to is a good choice.

I've changed my build to have a CPU with a LGA 1150 socket. Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks for the feedback as well. :)

@bruno: I'll probably save a mouse and keyboard for Christmas time, haha.

EDIT: Is it just me or do heatsinks compatible with LGA 1150 sockets not exist? I can't find any.
