what? that's a huge contradiction there my friend. The definition of Biblical God is inconsistent, hes omniscient and omnipresent but has emotions based on recent events. Hes perfect but decides to create, what could possibly a perfect being want by creating something new? Was he lacking something? The Bible says he loves us and wants us to love him. A fully perfect being would have no need for love, as it would already have total satisfaction from itself. Where is it written that God needed our love? He was perfectly fine on His own. He created us because He wanted to love us and for us to love Him.

actualy the torah (jewish bible (old testiment)) is much older then the bible. Judisum is the oldest religion that still exisits today as far as i know. Muslim, christan, all of those things spawned from judisim. The Torah is included in the Christian Bible. Christianity is the fulfillment of the Jewish religion and prophecy. Islam actually did not spwn from Judaism. It was actually based on Arabic paganism. Mohammed took the head deity of their religion, eliminated the other deities, and modified the beliefs with his own (he also incorporated some Judeo-Christian values). I'll try to find an article about it if you would like. GOD187, would you mind sharing some of your beliefs with us? I enjoy speaking to people of different religions.

You shouldn't begin to take something for true when you begin discussing, that's the problem. If you need to prove that a triangle exist of 180 degrees then you don't start by saying.. A triangle is 180 degrees. You couldn't say the same thing turining it around as it's not logical to begin with the reasoning that a triangle is 180 degrees and then prove that it's true that a triangle is 180 degrees as there's nothing to prove anymore then. It's always possible until until proven impossible. You cannot say it is true or false without definite proof, as those are both very definite statements. I have to say that I admire the maturity with which people have handled this subject. 1. But there is also no proof that there is no God. 2. Irrelevent to God's existence, but... Not all religions were made to oppress people. How is it oppressive to teach people to be loving and forgiving? (Christianity, among others) How is it oppressive to teach acceptance of all beliefs? (New Age, etc) People did not belive those things becuase of religion, they believed them because they were scientifically ignorant. Of course, some people knew better, from the time of the ancient Greeks at least. 3. God shouldn't be used as an excuse to be ignorant. His creation should be studied; we should try to understand nature to the best of our abilities. While we know how these processes occur, we can't rule out that God is in control of them. He could be controling every single detail of every single event. 4. Those theories are also fairly unlikely, and neither would disprove the existence of God if somehow proved. He could very well have used those processes to create the universe and life. 5. This is a tricky topic. I've been talking about his with some of my Christian friends on another board. I'll quote some of them here.

So then evolution depends on the chance that the mutation is favorable. And chambochae, that would be evolution guided by intellegent intent, which is completely different than the evolution we have been talking about. As others have said before, evolution does not disprove God (even though I personally don't believe in it). God could easily be the guiding force behind evolution, and could have used it to create life.

I see no explanation of the origin of life on that site. It says when they think it happened, and they say that they have fossils from that period, but they explain nothing.

If something has not been disproved, then it is still possible, no? God is outside of this universe, he is supernatural. He cannot be directly studied, observed, or proven. Therefore, since he cannot be proven or disproven, his existence is still a possiblity, not to be completely discarded as myth.

But if there, in all those years, no logical explonation has been found... What makes you think that there will be found one soon? Besides, as I posted on Scape, the bible is REALLY trustworth book, can't be bothered to explain why because I have to study. :P But as soon as we get the database back, I'll show you why. ;) It took me a day to write it and look that up :\ And yet, ultimately, it was written by humans claiming to have a voice in their head. Therefore, in order to call the bible trustworthy, you first need to prove God exists. Then you need to prove he's not a liar. Then you need to prove that God instructed humans to write all of the bible. I'm talking mainly about genesis here. 1: For example, it is entirely possible that God does exist and he did instruct humans to write the bible, then one of those humans thought "hmm, this needs some kind of introduction" and proceeded to write genesis without divine instruction, making it up as he went along. Entirely possible. 2: Meesy, in my opinion, we will never find a logical explanation as to what caused the big bang. This is because we are a part of this universe, we are inside it, we cannot see out (even if "seeing" has any meaning at all outside), we cannot go outside to have a look (a heck of a long way to travel, even if "going" has any meaning outside, and even if going outside were possible). But science is a continuous process. We are continually learning more, it doesn't all happen in a day. So who knows, maybe we will know someday. 1: If the Christian God did exist, and He did inspire the Bible, I do not believe he would let a book of lies be incorporated into it. There are plenty of other books that were written, such as the Gnostic Gospels, which were not included in the Bible because they were just made up by humans. (They also disagreed with the rest of the Bible and were historically inacurate) 2: Since we cannot observe or prove how the universe was created, that leaves open the possibility of God, among other things.

Two words: Shut up. That was uncalled for and extremely immature. I also have a question for atheist here. If there is no God, no life after death, and no greater purpose to life than preserving the species, then why argue against God? After I die, if there is no God to wake up to, then I won't think of my life as wasted. I believed in a greater purpose and was a better person because of it. But if there is a God, you will wake up to find that you were very wrong. God hates nothing more than seeing people go to hell. He wants everyone to come to Him, but he lets us choose our own fate.
