  1. What state do you live in? Also calling something "gay-ass tribal" is completely ignorant. Tribal can be extremely beautiful if done correctly, I'd actually say that tribal is one of the most difficult forms of tattooing to master. There is a lot more to it then wavy lines and heavy black fills.
  2. We want to get it done for the Motor City Tattoo Expo here in February, so there's no real definite when my next session will be. The idea is he'll just give me a call whenever he's got a couple hours free on a day and I'll pop in to do some work. So could be once a month from now until then or once every couple weeks; really remains to be seen. With your ear piercings do you plan on gauging? It'll be fantastic to see how your friends sleeve progresses from a shoulder piece. I want too many different things to just get a sleeve, so at the end of the day I think my artist and I will sit down when my arm is just about covered and think on how we want to combine them.
  3. English isn't my native language, but do you mean growth as in, for example, exercising and getting "bulkier legs"? If so, that really won't be a problem. The skin has an amazing ability to adapt, so unless you plan on going on a steroid binge and increase your muscle mass by over 200% in a very, very short time, you've no reason to worry. You picked me up perfectly. In that case, I might go for a thigh tattoo. On the note of thigh tattoos, did another sitting on my thigh piece last night. The bottom is a bit "mirky" right now but next sitting we're going to spend a lot of time flushing out the little details of Yoda. Thus far we're sitting at about 11 hours of work which isn't a whole lot for a piece of this size. I'd venture to say we have another 10-ish hours left to put in.
  4. I have to agree with you, I hate when people Riot Shield toss a C4 and blow you up. And the reason I become frustrated is I don't understand how the game is fun when doing that. Just like people using Javelins or RPG's for 10 games in a row for all their kills, how is that even fun to you? I ran around for a game with the Striker, with vertical grip, kick, and steady aim. That thing is ridiculous, no recoil whatsoever, just hip fire the whole time. I don't find that fun at all. And thank you for being smart, I generally always have a stinger secondary except on my sniper class, as I like to have some weapon I can switch to when I'm moving positions on the map. It's amazing in Drop Zone when you can instantly blow up everyones care packages, and I love it in other playlists as I'm a Specialist Package user, and I like that it adds to my killstreak.
  5. Pretty sure it does. If it does, please explain why I don't get 4k XP for the 4K points I sometimes get from holding the dropzone. You don't get XP for holding the DZ, only for kills from what I know. That's what I don't really bother holding the DZ, but it's a game mode that's easy to get 40+ kills a game so it can still yield good XP.
  6. I never said I personally did not care about the meaning behind A Starry Night. Actually I'm quite well versed in the history behind a lot of artworks as it was my minor when I was in college going for degree in design. You're unfortunately mistaking my use of "you" as if I'm specifically referring to you as a person. It's a generalized statement meant to be about the average person; not you as an individual. I will not understand how you misinterpreted the statements to feel like you're being prosecuted and need to defend yourself as no one here is attacking you. You're taking everything Azvy said as a personal attack on you as a person, which is not the case. He's making a generalized statement about tattooists having to hear the same boring story over again in regards to a symbol that is quite commonly tattooed on people. Also, do not mistake this as I'm referring to YOUR symbol; as I most definitely am not. Also, I agree in regards to more traditional art forms the stories behind them can be quite interesting. However I'd like to quote one of my favorite movies to close this post (paraphrased here). In reference to the Qur'an "I don't need to be Muslim to find the poetry beautiful and images moving..." Pedantic or not, the story doesn't matter at the end of the day and I most likely won't remember five minutes from now as to why the person got it. Far too much emphasis is put on why the piece was created instead of just letting it stand on its' own. As it's been stated several times over the past few posts, a good or bad tattoo does not become great or horrible based on its' story or cost.
  7. I 100% agree with Azvy here, a tattoo doesn't have to have some amazingly long and grandeur explanation to make it a good piece. I have the Zombie Audrey Hepburn because I love Audrey Hepburn and Grayson Castro did an amazing job on the original artwork. That's about it, that's the only explanation I really need. It doesn't matter how silly a tattoo is as long as it's well done. Here is a perfect example: Sure getting a picture of a tech deck and a hand is somewhat "silly" but anyway you look at it, that piece is amazingly well done and for its' beauty I appreciate it. As Azvy said, you have a piece that means a lot to you but it's another thing that should honestly be left out when judging a tattoo. I don't care what it means, why you got it, or the reason it was done. At ANY tattoo expo you go to, if you enter the contests for "best piece" of a certain category just about the only question the judges will ask is when it was done as that has relevancy to judging the piece. Otherwise they do not give a crap what you have to say about your tattoo. They're judging it on artistic merit alone and that's all that matters. Now, I know this isn't a tattoo judging contest but Azvy and I are simply trying to point out that when judging a tattoo it doesn't matter how silly it looks, what it means to you, or how much it costs. A beautiful piece, is a beautiful piece, is a beautiful piece. A crappy piece, is a crappy piece, is a crappy piece. The cost, the subject matter, or what it means to you will NEVER effect my judging of the tattoo. You judge them for what they are, and what they are is art. Do you REALLY CARE why the Starry Night piece was painted? No, you don't. You just know it's a beautiful piece and you appreciate it for what it is. Quite a few of the tattoo blogs/websites I frequent will take user submissions, if I see an amazing piece accompanied by a long explanation. It definitely will warrant a read, as it can be interesting as to why they got it. But if it's a crappy or average piece, I don't care what explanation you come up with, it's never going to become a good piece. It may be cold or morbid but I do not care if it has anything to do with a dead relative or friend, if it sucks then it sucks. It's not going to all of a sudden become a spectacular piece just because you tug at my heart chords; sorry. Now I'm not saying your piece sucks, I'm just generally speaking here. So don't think I'm attacking you or your tattoo. LA Ink, Miami Ink, NY Ink all those shows are bullcrap. The crews are purposely put together to cause conflict and drama. No one would care about Jersey Shore if it was just a bunch of Italian kids clubbing that always got along. No, people want drama. And these shows perpetuate a world of tattooing that definitely exists but it's a very small part. You'll find more people get tattoos done just for the sake of getting a good tattoo then they do because they have some drawn out boring meaning behind it. At the end of the day get a tattoo because YOU like what the piece is. It doesn't matter what the subject matter is or why you're getting it, if it's beautiful I'll love it.
  8. I see this thread has been dead since October, and I'm just going to make a post on my thoughts about tattoos in hopes of maybe bringing a little bit of life to the thread. First let me state, what is about to be written is my sole opinion and not to be mistaken for fact. I got my first tattoo when I was 15, and if any of you kids are reading this thread I urge you to wait. All the tattoos I got from the time I was 15 to 18 were typical tribal and I wouldn't say I regret them it's just I definitely didn't grow up to still be that person. My father is/was very into the tribal ordeal, and idolizing my father I wanted the same style. Right now I'm in the process of working on cover-ups for all but one of the tattoos from that time period. So I urge you to wait until you're AT LEAST 18 and possibly even longer to see the type of person you're really going to be. Moving on I will say, I love my tattoos. Especially my latest work by an artist in my local area. If you're THAT MUCH into tattoos, don't limit yourself to one artist. I'm saving plenty of room and have made myself a sort of Tattoo Artist Bucket List. This is a list of artists I want to have a tattoo done by before I die. My list includes the likes of: Bob Tyrrell (Detroit, MI) Nikko Hurtado (Hesperia, CA) Mike DeVries (Northridge, CA) Cecil Porter (Murrieta, CA) Paul Ackers (Philadelphia, PA) Jesse Smith (Richmond, VA) Frank La Natra (Fort Lauderdale, FL) Bili Vegas (New York, New York) Tattoos are my addiction, the one place I find solitude and peace. There's nothing more relaxing and pleasant to me then spending a day at the shop, getting a tattoo and joking with the guys. This shop I've gone to for the past year, has become a lot like my family. My artist, just isn't my artist he's also a good friend. I came to a point in my life with getting tattoos, that I was done sinking hours and days into thinking of what the tattoo should be and what it should mean. I decided a few years ago, that I just want the tattoo to be beautiful, for it to be something I can be proud of. This however is my personal opinion on the tattoos I want. I've never for a second doubted if I should continue getting more tattoos. I've always seen my perfect body as one covered in tattoos. This may not be the case for everyone and I'm sure it's not. However, what I hope for is understanding from the individuals whom are not tattooed or not heavily. My artist once said to me, "The difference between tattooed folk and non-tattooed folk, is tattooed folk don't give a crap that you are not tattooed." Don't get me wrong, us tattooed folk can be judgmental to the bone on how well a tattoo is done. Though you have to consider, what a "good tattoo" is. Azvareth is more into the neo-traditional old school type tattoos; where I am in to the much more realistic and colorful tattoos. There can still be an appreciation for tattoos no matter what style you prefer. Which brings me to my next point, who cares how much your tattoo cost? You're not going to impress me more or less by saying, "It only cost X dollars." A lot of the time if it only cost X dollars, it'll look like it only cost that amount. Leave the amount of money you paid for the tattoo out of it, and let me judge the tattoo for what it is. A bad tattoo doesn't become great because it only cost 20 dollars, a great tattoo doesn't become bad because it only cost 20 dollars. The one thing you can almost always be sure of is the more money you spend the better tattoo you'll PROBABLY get. However, how good of a tattoo you get is up to you. I researched for literally DAYS for a tattoo artist to handle my Sylvia Ji Sugar Skull piece. I ended up finding my artist an hour and a half drive from me. That's not a ridiculous drive but when I get a tattoo done now, I make a day out of it. A good artist is worth the travel. What I finally want to touch on is tattoo slang. It's not a tattoo GUN, it's a tattoo MACHINE. It's not tatted, tat, ink, inked, poked; it's a tattoo. Call it by it's proper name, some people may feel that the tattoo world is somehow unprofessional so slang is in some way acceptable. It's not acceptable by any means, use the proper terms and your tattoo artist will think much more highly of you; I can promise you that. I'm going to cap this off with a few shots of my tattoos. I hope this enlightened some of you and you find joy in whatever tattoos you get. Sylvia Ji Sugar Skull My Dogs Zombie Audrey Hepburn Gizmo and Stripe Skull Clint Eastwood
  9. I have to agree with you ItsASpork. HexiledRazz, I think your friend should try and save another couple hundred dollars at the very least and then look. I'd say for what he wants he should be looking around the $500-600 range, which I know is almost double his current budget but instead of settling now for something he'll have to update in a year, he might as well take the time and save so he can purchase something that will last them a minimum of 2 years.
  10. What make of MacBook Pro do you have? In the Finder bar, click the apple, select about this Mac, and select "More Info..." on that first screen, what is your Model Identifier?
  11. Well, this is my "triumphant" return to Tip.It I originally had an account on TIF under the name "Teenageloser33" back in 2003/2004 I believe. I had actually started playing Runescape back in 2002 about a year after it's release when I was 14 years old (jeeze I feel old now.) I spent most of time then in the media forums when pixeling and selling signatures was the main trend to make cash if you didn't want to raise a skill in the game. I left around 2006 when I started college and had to put most of time to classes and work. I would pop in and out of the game from time to time but nothing more than a couple hours a month. I at one point a few years ago was going to make a return only to find out the Wilderness and free trade had been abolished, effectively tanking the Runescape economy and my desire to play. During my time away from 2006 until now I competed in e-sports, hitting up semi-pro Halo (2 and 3) and COD (MW1, MW2, MW3) tournaments. Also during that time I made the switch to World of Warcraft, had a couple maxed out toons but it never really did it for me. Now that the Wilderness is back and I believe free trade (correct me if I'm wrong), I'm ready to start over and relearn this game from the start. I will say I missed it, I missed these forums, so it will be interesting to see how the next few months pan out for me. So hello again, and if any of you remember Teenageloser33 or JacobRyan feel free to message me and say hello. I look forward to coming back home and meeting some new people. If you wish to contact me in game just add xVertigo it'd be my pleasure to make your acquaintance.
