I speak two languages fluently. Also, like most people, I know a few words or phrases here and there in several other languages.

Im inclined to belive that the latter is the truth here :| WHich is the whole point of this thread. Nowhere did I say everyone who reads a book automatically develops some kind of supremacist attitude. I find it hihgly amusing that the people who claim that reading books increases your comprehension are the ones who seem to be missing the point of this thread entirely. yep. it had to be done I'm unaware ... :?

Ironic that it is you who appears to have not read the thread in which I clarified that this was not meant to be a discussion about whether books are good or not, nor was I calling book readers dumb. Instead you take the first post personally, perhaps because you are one yourself? And then come here and try to justify yourself. It is generally good forum behavior to not post right away in a thread that you see has already hit several pages. Instead it is better to read the whole thread first and see where the discussion has gone. =; To all the people who are replying to this thread taking it personally, if you are not one of those book readers with a superiority complex; you are just making yourself seem like one by taking a defensive stance. If you are one of them, well, then you are just confirming my point. :-k

Why no multi-quote button?
Schwarzenegger replied to Schwarzenegger's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
It's only a matter of installing the proper MOD or writing the code to do it. PhpBB doesn't limit what someone can write to extend it. In the end all it would really take is retrieving multiple posts from the database instead of just one like the current quote system does. Not all that hard to do for someone with a bit of experience with PHP and how PhpBB works. This would be quite useful in the end. Wait, are you guys talking about like multiple quote buttons on the viewtopic page? What i was thinking, to make it a bit less server intensive, and easier to code, would be to add a quote button to the reply page, where it shows the previous posts, and then when you click on it, it puts in in the posting box. Hell, that could easily be done with a little bit of php and a simple js function. A "multi-quote" button next to the existing quote button on each post. You click it for each post you want to reply to. When you clicked them all and you are ready to reply you press reply and the text field now shows all the quoted posts in their own seperate quotes with one or more blank lines between each post to make it easy for you to poke right in there and enter your reply to each post. -
Assist system- the most merchable thing ever
Schwarzenegger replied to yesiammanu's topic in General Guides
Couldn't someone with high enough skills to that all himself? :-s I'm afraid I don't quite get the point of this. I don't see any "abusing" of the system.. #-o -
There goes my plan :boohoo: #-o

I wish I could reply to every post, but since this forum does not have a multi-quote button I can't be cabbaged to spend an hour copy/pasting :x I will make a few points at some of the general ideas that have been replied, I'm not addressing anyone or post in particular. ------------------------ I did not mean to say all book readers are like that. I thought I made it clear enough. Apologies if you misunderstood me or I was not clear enough. Not all book readers are like that. : This was not intended to be about whether hardcore bookworms are smarter than nonreaders nor about whether reading makes one smarter or not. It was about elitist bookworms and their superiority complex over people who simply don't enjoy reading books as much as they do or don't have time to read books to begin with. (yes I am aware that elitists exist everywhere in everything, but book elitists are true scum. Elitists in other fields usually are because they are good at what they do, or are veterans and more experienced. Not just because they do somehting others couldn't care less about) This isn't necessarely about reading in general. Even the most nonacademic peoples have some things they will enjoy reading. Whether it be about their favorite hobby, their religious texts, or the odd article here and there in the newspaper. Sorry to any people still in k-12 school, but it has nothign to do with a person's enjoyment of reading if they don't like to read books (which usually refer to text books and other books assigned in class) I remember one post in this thread commenting about me saying that some people don't have time to read a book and their rebuttal was that they find time to spend two hours on a movie. Big difference there. With a movie there is an endless number of house chores and other activities you can do while still being able to keep enough focus on the movie. WIth a book, you are VERY limited to what you can do while reading. The most you can do without severely disrupting your reading is limited to walking on a treadmill or using the stationary bike. There may be a few others, but these strike me as the most obvious. I'm not saying books are bad. Books are good, but they are not for everyone, and they don't have to be. Is it truly some kind of sin to society that one does not enjoy reading a book, god forbid even have the time to devote solely to that? Reading a book does require more thought and produces a deeper connection with the reader than a movie does, I am not arguing that. Does that necessarely make the person who reads books for entertainment purposes intellectually superior to a person who does not enjoy reading books as much as the other? I wish I could go into more detail and reply to most of the posts in here, but as I said, I can't be cabbaged to spend anoher half hour copying text and quote tags. :-w

Ron Paul raises over 3 million dollars in 24 hours
Schwarzenegger replied to dwarfdude3's topic in Off-Topic
I thought he was good until I saw he wants everybody to be homeschooled.. seriously that is one of the most ridiculous ideas I have ever heard in my entire life. There is no way that it would work without the coming generations being complete idiots either because of their parents' educating them (have you seen some of the nutjobs in this country?) or because they won't even get homeschooled. There are a good number of single parents you know... if they were to stay at home and homeschool they would not be able to hold a job, which would make them go on welfare, which is against small government, and in the end old man Paul comes out ot be an idiot and his loving fans either uninformed or idiots. =; -
Both wrong. ~Yes you can make a start of the potion even though you do not have the herblore level to make it (I.E Water filled vial+snapdragon), ~Yes you can trade them. Hope you're right =P~

I'm wondering why this forum does not have the multi quote button. It is a very handy tool, you can click the multi-quote button on each post within a thread that you wish to reply to, so when you do reply you have every post in seperate quotes. This makes it very easy and efficient to reply in large threads where you need to address multiple posts. Without the multi-quote button, one must spend more time copy/pasting the posts they wish to reply to, along with quote tags. This is a very long and tedious process which causes some posters to even give up on a topic because they can't be bothered to waste so much time on it. Thanks for any input

Since I'm 81 herblore it has eben a while since I have had herbs too high level for me. My question is, could my friend who does not have a high level herblore use an herb on a vial to make an unfinished potion even though he is not high enough to make the actual potion? He would then trade the unfinished pot to me so i could finish it, saving a lot of time. Thanks.

We all know the ads for various companies of all types that have the same gimmicky "we care about our customers!" type line as their slogan. My question is, do they truly deep down inside CARE? Today I saw an article about some kid who had some kind of fatal disease, one of his wishes was to see the company Blizzard. He got his wish, he got the full tour with his dad. They even created a character after him and his dog, a new weapon, and he did one of the voices. Do you guys think that they did all this out of the goodness of their hearts? I am sure it has something to do with it, but as one of my professors says that there's always more than one reason to everything that happens. It is just that one (or some) of the reasons are not as "sexy" to talk about. How good would it look on their part if it was known they did not allow a sick dying kid to visit their building? On the contrary if they allow him to visit and do a bunch of stuff, it is only good publicity. "Oh look at those guys, they really care! Perhaps my children should be able to play that game after all!" It's like all those food companies that put "satisfaction guaranteed or your money back" on all their food products. If someone is not satisfied they will tell their friends who might change their attitude about that company and may then in turn tell their friends, etc etc... Same with restaurants. If you complain loud enough, or if the chef butchers your order enough times- the manager comes out and you get the meal on the house. They would rather lose a couple bucks here and there than have a bad rep and lose potential customers. They really couldn't care less if you end up with a charred piece of leather on your plate. edit-somehow a quote tag ended up in this post, don't know how it got there

What's the story with people who read books (usually fiction type books- for entertainment) who think that they are some kind of supreme intelligent being and that people who do not read books are, well to put it bluntly, idiots. Is it some kind of revolutionary concept that different people have different likes and dislikes? Is a person mentally lacking because they prefer watching a movie over reading a book? Do these pseudo-intellectuals not realize that some people in this world have extremely busy schedules and can't be cabbaged to devote a large amount of time to read a book? I like reading books from time to time, but I am not one of these would be philosophers who try to read as many fiction stories as possible. Sure, your vocabulary and writing skills may improve if you constnatly have your nose in a book. But what does that really do other than make you appear to be more intelligent? Anyone can come out with a sentence full of complex words and whether they truly know the words or not does not make a difference in how smart the person truly is at the end of the day. I remember on another forum someone posted a statistic saying X percent of american families do not own/read X amount of books, and people were discussing how sad that was. Anyone else feel the same or am I the only one who hates scum that try to validate their intelligence or lack thereof?

Confusion about farming.. (trees)
Schwarzenegger replied to Schwarzenegger's topic in Help and Advice
Well I got on to check first thing when waking up and they finally grew. Didn't expect the growing time to go end up being about 36 hours instead of 14.6 :wall: -
You can't get more than 30k xp.. does that mean once you get 30k xp from assisting you can't assist anymore or you don't get anymore xp if you do it?

Confusion about farming.. (trees)
Schwarzenegger replied to Schwarzenegger's topic in Help and Advice
But I thought if they become diseased and are not treated, they die at the next "clock tick" I did not pay the farmers nor did I watch over them... I'm standing at Catherby right now, it does not seem dead... -
So I'm at 53 farming but I will admit I am rather noob at it, up until about level 45 was done all by guthix tears 8-) I am having a problem with some of my pineapple trees. Only one out of the four have grown. The tip.it guide says their growth time is 14.6 hours but it has been much longer than 14.6 hours. It has been almost 24 hours now. I used supercompost and did not pay the farmer to watch for them, so I would assume by now they should normally be fully grown or dead. The one that grew was at the gnome village. The ones at Brimhaven, catherby, and the gnome stronghold still have not finished growing. Anyone can tell me what is going on, am I missing something? I planted them all with super compost and all within a few minutes of eachother (time to teleport) Help is greatly appreciated :)

lock on request, mistaken information
Schwarzenegger replied to Skul_Lord1's topic in General Discussion
That means nothing at all... Remember in RSC there was a full 3d map of the rs world? We never got 3d in RSC. No one even thought about it being an update. Everyone just pretty much knew it was a feature that only jagex had. I don't see why people are thinking this is an update... Edit- lol did not realize those screenshots were up in the open on jagex site.. Failed thread. =; -

Is runescape really getting bigger?
Schwarzenegger replied to toasttanker's topic in General Discussion
When you condiser that in its early stages RS had under 500 people playing and now has well over 200k during peak hours, yes I believe you can consider that growing. -
I don't think I have ever had deja vu in my 19 years of life. I constantly have it in my dreams though. Kinda weird.
