  1. One of the things in runescape I'm most proud of is my level to xp ratio, whenever I look at the high scores chart I always, ALWAYS have the lowest xp for my level. Usually by a lot and as I said I'm quite proud of that but it has got me thinking of just how low I could keep my total xp while still making it to level 99 in all skills. I don't think its possible to get there with the minimum xp because of the ways the skills interact and the needs for cash etc. but how low do people think you could keep it and still max out?
  2. Has anyone considered that Bob may be lieing? Now I must confess to being a worshiper of Bob (all hail mighty Bob supreme ruler of runescape) I always saw him as being a Loki style trickster god and not adverse to throwing the odd spanner in the works just to liven things up a bit. Of course as the greatest of the gods (all hail mighty Bob supreme ruler of runescape) he may be privy to a bit of inside information.
  3. No way! I mean really, what 13 year old would name their tip.it account OZWALD? No kidding? Actually I picked up the moniker when i was 12. It's a referance to Oswald Mosley (google it if you don't know who he was) and I got given it because I always wore black shirts to school.
  4. it's good to see that jagex still drops in the odd chesnut for us older players, perhaps next it will be Withnail & I. Everyone keep your eyes peeled for a reference to drugged onions. :D
  5. lol just a little spat because i'm tired but seriously why should I have to post something long, complex and entertaining when my question is short, simple and boring?
  6. Wow I never though a simple ask if anyone else has spotted this would get me flamed but its ok anyway I googled it and yes it is from the adventure game and if you never saw it you missed out because watching dumb celebs standing like stunned ducklings wondering what the hell they were supposed to do was great. I guess next time I should spend hours composing prose worthy of Chaucer to ask something that I can do in a few lines just to lighten up all your worthless little lives.
  7. if your under 30 you probably won't know what i'm talking about but... I just came back after a 6 week layoff (due to no t'internet) and have done the eyes of glouphrie quest now is it just me or is that an homage to the old british tv show 'the adventure game'. I mean even down to the aspidistra. I hope I'm not going mental cos I loved that show so somebody tell me I'm not dreaming
  8. This drove me absolutly mental during the recipe for disater quest. To get the magic monkey nut you have to go down a hole in the monkey agility course but....... saying "a hole" is censored. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr language is a medium for comminacting thoughts between humans, word control is thought control you nazis. RS name: Crustycleft but you can call me Oz
  9. As this thread had progressed we are starting to see a big difference in outlook on the game depending on age. I am 31 and 'Back in the old days' we had to suffer the stigma of being an rpg nerd and geek and now a wave of biggotry that we are all pasty faced weirdos who live with our mothers but gaming is in my blood, its part of who I am. Before most people on rs were born I had a ZX81 (hangs head in shame) and before that there was the Atari 2600 and a lifetime playing D & D/ warhammer/ talisman and so many computers and game systems since then yet along the way I manged to get a degree, represent my country at two different sports, learn the art of tai chi and now i make my living playing poker. I can't help it, playing games is in my blood as it is with so many other people of similar age but this is why the different outlook exists. We are gamers. For the younger generation games like this are just another medium for social interaction and and contest with each other, they pk and duel for the challeng and to meet others, well not for me buddy. I've been playing for 2.5 years and have never fought a duel or killed anther player and there is an aweful lot of people just like me because we are dedicated skill totallers. For the older generation playing the game is what its all about and we see gaining levels as suceeding in the game. All this tells me is rs is a true gem of a game for such different outlooks to be able to exist side by side in such an open ended setting. RS name: Crustycleft but you can call me Oz
  10. First up I'd like to say kudos to muppetman for a well written well balanced article. There are a few exta issues here that I would like to highlight as regards the actions of Jagex and Tipit but and introduction first. I am also a 30+ year old player of runescape and a proffesional poker player in the real world and I found Jagexs' and Andrews' reaction to the article fascinating for several reasons. It is in the nature of human psycology to be most aggressive when it is at its weakest and most vulnerable (something that has earned me a tidy amount of money over the years) and the hyper aggressive response to the original article would seem to point to Andrew knowing that he is in the wrong over the whole banning issue or at least has something to hide. If he was totally in the right and had had his reputation questioned unfairly then the natural reaction would be more measured, calmer and patient because it would be based on the confidence of truthful knowledge. But it wasn't. The article itself was, covertly or not, questioning Jagexs' buisness practices particularly their customer support. It was this questioning of the customer support that probably inspired the hostile reaction from Jagex due to a guilty conscience on their part. Jagex is a company that sees an income of several million dollars a month at least yet the vast majority of their customer support is automatated and, to be honest, inadequate. This is not to say that the jagex staff dont care because it is obvious from the amount and quality of the updates we recieve that they do but, and this is the point, THEY ARE NOT BUISNESSMEN. They look and act like coders, programmers and gamers who have suddenly found themselves in charge of a company that is expanding increadibly fast and they are struggling to keep up. There are other indicators which are too detailed to go into here but it would seem that they are running the company on a maximun profit/minimum outlay basis and hopeing that the whole thing doesn't fall over at least the areas of the buisness that they are unfamiliar with (everything except coding/programming). Tipits article seemed to highlight the flaws in their buisness or to put it another way they had been hurt in a sensitive area and were lashing out. I think it was a serious misake for tipit to remove the original article because it makes Jagex feel correct in its actions and will slow down the natural market pressures for change. Both Jagex and Tipit need to recognise the force for good that tipit and other fan sites can be within the game and that the removal of the original article has hurt the game itself. Finnaly Jagex and certain members of staff within it need to realise that as paying customers it is our right to highlight any problems within the game and the company and that as a PLC if any member of staff is found to be acting outside the companys' own guidelines then they can be removed by shareholders (not that I am accusing anyone of this but the previous article was alluding to personal bias and wrongdoing). Perhaps a tie in to a more established consulting company with the buisness experiance could help them. Or maybe we should all buy 1 share in jagex and turn up to the shareholders meeting and get a free lunch at least
