  1. yet mages still seem to be overpowered... and I agree with one part of that, rangers need an update, perhaps a spirit shortbow from the new spirit trees?
  2. Yes, but why would you be fighting with a weapon with 20 in a certain category? It's more for things like dragon longs and rune, example dragon long would go from 58:69:-2:0:0 strength 71 to 72:86:-1:0:0 strength 88. Although, that would make it stronger than whip, so i can see why some of you might not like it. But you could always lower the bonus %
  3. Please note that I came up with this idea because i think that mages and rangers are extremely overpowered, and us poor meleers get owned by both classes. This has fairly high level requirements, and is P2P only. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, what is tempering you ask? It is the process of superheating and item and beating it in a way so that it becomes stronger, but heavier. I propose that you should be able to superheat items at the same levelk that it takes to make the items, and temper them at 10 levels higher than the making level. For example: If you wish to superheat an adamant platebody, you must have 88 smithing. To temper it, you need 98 smithing. To temper an item, use the superheated item with an anvil What does tempering do? Obviously, it makes it stronger. Tempering a sword will give it 25% boost on it's positive attributes, and a 25% decrease on it's negivitve attribues. Suppose a weapon has -100 slash, and 100 stab (no such weapon, this is an example). Tempering it would give it a -75 slash and a stab level of 125. You see? The same goes for the weapon's strength bonuses, as well as armour's negivive and positive attribues. You can only temper items that can be made, the exception being dragon weapons, but i'll explain how that works later, also rune and steel are slightly different as well. The downside is that the tempered forms are 10x heavier than their normal counterparts. Full armour usually weighs about 31 kg, but tempered it would weigh 310 kg. Basically, this isn't for people that usually find themselves running like little girls. Rune, being that it goes up to level 99, cannot be tempered by any player smither. Instead, you must seek out the help of the dwarves of dwarf city... but it will come at a price, of course. They will also only temper weapons and armour that have been superheated, which you can do with the appropriate levels. Also, somthing I forgot to mention, it takes half the coal it would normally take to smith the weapon (eg, if it takes 40 coal to make a rune platebody since that takes 5 bars, 8 coal appiece, you need 20 coal to superheat the platebody, and 99 smithing, of course). And in additon, you can cool the weapon back down by using a container of water on it, or using it with a sink, fountain, or any other source of water. You can also use the superheat item spell on the weapon or armour piece, provided you have the appropriate ammount of coal. Dragon I am a bit confused as to how that would work, but I have some of it figured out. To heat any dragon weapon or armour piece, you need 99 smithing. Also, going on the impression that it takes 10 coal per 'bar' used to make the dragon weapon or armour piece, it takes 5 coal per 'bar' used to make the weapon to superheat the weapon or armour piece. Also, I think the most logical answer as to where you could get it tempered for a 'price' would be somewhere in zaranis, probally by the furnace. As for steel, tempering that turns it into a black weapon or armour piece. I am under the impression that black is nothing more than tempered steel, and it can be made in this manner, assuming you have 10 levels higher than it would normally take to make the steel weapon. Superheated items can be recognized by the slight reddish glow around them, and it says 'superheated' before the name. The item will only stay superheated for a half hour, that includes bank time. Also, you cannot equip superheated items. But, you may equip superheated weapons and shields, provided you wear ice gloves, giving those another use. The weapons have a 20% boost to their stats, as well to their negitive ones and their strength. Although, you need the proper levels to superheat them, and the coal, and also the item will no longer be superheated after the half hour has elapsed, and on top of that, they cannot be traded. So this wouldn't work out so well for PKers. Tempred items can be identified by the fact that they have a slightly darker color, and they have 'tempered' before the name. Dragon weapons and armour aren't any darker, instead have a slight greenish glow about them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, what do you guys think of this idea? I think it would give Meleers a slightly better advantage against mages and rangers, and give smithing a slightly better use than just making items, and slightly more profitable.
  4. Jard_Dooko, I'm pretty sure you get a different greegree from each gorilla, because I have two different gorilla greegrees sitting in my bank in different stacks, and when I go to the zoo I can transform into the elders and the young gorillas.
  5. There are 7, you missed the elder gaurds by the trapdoor... they have beards, that is the only difference, they are the same level and everything, but you can get a greegree from them, and yes it does show up in the trainsformation. I know this is old, just posting how i got the greegrees, might help some people. And it might bring into account a greegree or two someone missed, like the above example.
  6. Let me first start out by saying that I am aware that this topic has been discussed many times, and that I am simply conveying to the people that have just finished Monkey Madness how I completed my GreeGree collection. ---What are Monkey GreeGrees?--- Monkey GreeGrees are little talismins that you can enchant with different monkey bones to be able to trainsform into that monkey whenever you are in either the zoo or ape atoll itself. Unfortunatly, they don't work anywhere else at the time. Also, Monkey GreeGrees don't serve any purpose at all, they are simply for fun. ---How many GreeGrees are there, and how can i get them?--- There are seven different types of GreeGrees, one obviously being the Karamja monkey. You can get those bones by simply killing th monkys on Karamja. I'm not going to go into much detail about them, because they are already required during the quest. You should bring some food and antipoisions, because you might need the food during your grueling trek through the huge dungeun, although it isn't nearly as grueling as when you weren't a monkey. Antipoisons are to counteract the poison those nastly little black widow spiders like to inject in you while you are fighting a particularly tough monkey. Also, bring some ranging gear. You will need this for the scimitar weilding monkey, and teleport runes in case you get into trouble, and if you don't want to have to walk out of the dungeun, and finally, some cash, 10k would be good. Ok, onto the different types of GreeGrees. Zombies: Theese are really easy, just go down the trapdoor in the temple and kill the level 86 ones for their bones, and the level 126 ones. The 86's will give you bones allowing you to turn into a small zombie monkey, and the 126's bones into a larger zombie monkey. Archer and scimitar master: How I suggest you do this is climb to the second floor of that big house in ruins by the plantation, and turn on protect from ranged and kill one of the archers there. There are only two of them, and no other monkeys to hurt you, although there is a little black widow up there that might want to bite and poison you, hence why you brought an antipoison potion. The Scimmy master is a bit tougher, but against popular opinion, getting a scimmy weilder sicked on you by the non agressive NPCs is stupid. Panulba, or however you spell his name, in the center of the town by the statue is a better choice. Turn on protect from ranged and range him, and when he approaces to hit you, run back. If he does hit you, you won't wind up in jail like the other scimmy ninjas will do to you, just do alot of damage. I didn't check if there was anything to hide behind there, so you might want to look around. Also, you might want to run to the temple a few times if you prayer begins to run out. Those archers are deadly! The monkey will be there when you get back, don't worry. Gorillas, elder and young: Theese are BLOODY hard to kill. They regenerate their health almost as soon as they get to low health, but not always, which gives you an opportunity to kill them. Save your specs for when he gets to low health. Also, a good idea for the young gorilla gaurds would be to lure one to the gorilla statue, so you can stand right next to it while fighting, and you can take advantage of the unlimited prayer by turning on protect from melee (you should do that anyway!), and in addition, ultimate strength and incredible reflexes. Note that it will still take ages to kill him, so be patient. You cannot use the above method for the elders, because they are protecting the trapdoor, and will not move out of that area. A better idea would be to bring a friend. You do like 200 or so damage, and then have him join in. You could even help him out with his greegrees, too. Also, so the young gorilla dosen't take ages, you might want to bring a friend for that one, too. ---Okay, I have the bones, what do I do now?--- Go to the magic stall, buy the appropriate ammount of monkey talismins, and head into the dungeun. Make sure you have your monkey disquise on so you don't get attacked by the zombies and skeletons, trust me, they hurt! If you are just now doing the quest, then you will need a few prayer potions, and you will need to put on protect from melee. Be weary of the falling rocks and traps as well, and at the end have the 10th squad mage enchant the talismins by using the bones and talismin with him. Make sure not to bury the bones  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I hope you like this guide, I hope it helps you to get those monkey suits
  7. *Edited out my two year old post. I'm no longer a poor n00b.*
  8. Don't bother yourself with shade robes, they suck  Just stick to the normal mage robes
  9. I just got a really cool thought. Ok, the invisibility potion will actually make you invisible... BUT, armour/weapons/accesories are visible. So if you are wearing full rune, they will see you as a guy in full rune. But if you have absolutly nothing on, you will be invisible. But your white dot does appear on the minimap. But the super invisibility potion hides that aswell. If a pker wishes to invis pk though, they will attack someone, and if they have auto retal on, they will immediatly turn around and attack back. So if you are completely invisible, that means you aren't wearing armour. And if you aren't wearing armour or weapons, than their initial strike will hurt a lot more. This I think would open up highly new deminsions in RS wilderness: E.G: someone is in the axe hut, invisible, and they are weilding an iron battleaxe. They look almost identical to the axes. You attack them without thinking, you get a skull, they switch to a whip or somthing and you get pooned by a floating whip :) to counteract this, there is a prayer to be able to see the invisible. It has a slow drain rate, and dosen't work past level 30 wild. This would be VERY useful for treasure trailing. The only thing is when the zammy mage attacks you, you have to weild your weapon or cast spells, and if there is a nearby PKer, that would reveal your location (ie: a floating dragon long.... hmmm....)
  10. yea, then just drink it when being attacked by a group of PKers? No, thats a horrible idea. And that has no use while treasure trailing because you can't attack the zamorak mage that you need to kill before you can get your treasure. And i think this would make the wild a whole lot more dangerous (and safer if your PKer friend dosen't drink one). And clans could easily ambush each other in the wild... :) As for the magic + potion suggestion, again, bad idea because that would, again, overpower an already overpowered class, even though they have to take a swig of the potion aswell. Also, this wouldn't effect F2P wild, just keep that in mind. So the guy at the bottom saying he couldn't gather planks, guess again, just do it on an F2P world.
  11. People will eventually get bored of it. I mean, once you get into the 100s or so, it will take ages to gain a single level. People will eventually just quite due to the HUGE ammonut of work required. Even the hardcore players will eventually get sick of it. This would just give them somthing to look forward to after laboring for days making rune. Possibly they could at least allow us to go to level 100. That makes much more sense... and mabye moove rune plate up to 100 instead of being able to smith it at the same level as R2Hs and legs.
  12. Care to elaborate? Looks like someone didn't bother to read the post, and didn't see that it dosen't actually make you invisible. If you did read it, you really should go into why it's a bad idea and what could I put in to improve it.
  13. What it does: It dosen't actually make you invisible. But it does provide some means of stealth in the wilderness. It temporarily (for 5-10 minutes or so) hides your white dot on the minimap, so PKers can't easily spot you... and so your victims won't see you coming. People have suggested this in the past, but it was in the form of a magic spell, which would be a WAY bad idea because it would overpower and already overpowered class. This would make it avalible to pretty much anyone. And don't ask me what herblore level/what herbs/ingrediants it takes, cause i don't really have an idea where it will fit in :? And, if you have a rant about not being able to see PKers coming when treasure trailing, bring an invisibility potion yourself, silly  If the Pker was stupid enough to forget one, then you can easily avoid him, because he can't spot you on the minimap, and you can spot him. If BOTH of you are using one, there is a chance you might just both unknowingly slide past each other, not being able to see each other on the minimap. And if you do get jumped, then it would be no different from when you weren't paying attention and you got jumped by that nice clan
  14. It costs money for the legal system to pass a law. To put laws on the ballot that should already be known as things left up to common sense is just pointless. Some of those are just stupid... beating a rat with a baseball bat. Whats wrong with that? And spitting isn't really my idea of a good state law...
  15. I was reading on a website some laws that were actually passed (but no longer exist today) and are, really, totally stupid. Some of them are quite helarious. But the state of Illinois takes the cake with this one. Here is a list of all the state and individual town laws (the stupid ones anyway): There's a million more where that came from. But, if you would like to dig up some more crazy laws, feel free to post them here :) P.S: Mods, if you see any laws in there that you would consider inapropriate, feel free to remove them. Won't bother me, you're just doing your job  (anyway the ones i consider funny don't sound at all inapropriate, and the reason i am posting this is because i really have no idea what you would consider inapropriate for theese forums).
  16. You would think that the confirmation screen would be enough for some people. But no, they are stupid and don't read it. But, I propose a way to fix all of that. Make it to where it is impossible to remove an item once you have offered it. But, there is a 'clear all' button somewhere. This will clear both players' offers. So if they try to clear all and put another item in its place, their opponent has to put down their money again. But, this would give them an opportunity to see the switch, having to put down the money/items down again. What do you think? Do you think this would make things worse, or make them better? I personally am leaning towards the better part. Although it will be a slight inconvenience for honest hearted traders, it would hopefully crack down on those scammers lame attempts to do the ol' switcharoo on you.
  17. I posted somthing similar to this in the RS help/advice section, but nobody there can solve my problem. Didn't see the tech section. For all you tech guys, the problem is is that in any browser i am using, including the RS client, it closes out in the middle of my playing RS and leaves this text document on my desktop saying some error has occured. I have posted this HUGE document in a quote below. I really have tried everything, I have the latest version of Java, shockwave, and flash players but that makes litte difference. There are no trojans, keyloggers, viruses, or spyware programs on my computer, trust me I have checked with every antivirus/spyware program i can think of, i have a firewall, and i use mozilla firefox 1.0.3. Also, this seems to have never happened when I had members, so I'm thinking the ads might have somthing to do with it. Anyway, if anyone can give me the jist of what this says, and how to fix the problem, PLEASE, i would be greatly appreciative. This problem has been bugging me for a LONG time. As you can see, it's a lot of jibberish, if any of you tech guys can make it out, translation, please! :?
  18. Try using Spyware Doctor. It detects pretty much every kind of malware you can think of. Keyloggers, spyware, trojans, viruses, hijacks, ect. It also acts as a firewall, and protects you from all theese things, and restricts your access to sites that it knows are bad news (it has a list of sites that are known bad sites). Unfortunatly, the trial version does not remove the stuff from your computer, just detects them. But, it gives you the directory of the folder/registry folder it is in, so you can manually delete them. Yeah, did i mention it detected those registry values that keep having the stupid program reinstall itself after you delete it? Nope, i didn't, it detects those too. You might want to run adaware first, and have it remove everything it can find (because having to manually remove that many things can be a serious pain), then run spyware doctor to see if it can find some things that adaware can't.
  19. If posting that long, jibberish message is what you really want me to do...
  20. Every freaking time i try to play runescape, all of the sudden the stupid browser window just CLOSES OUT ON ITS OWN, thus disconnecting me from runescape. It happens really fast. It happens all too often. I've tried everything I can possibly think of. Reinstalling firefox, and everything. I've tried it in internet explorer. Same thing happens, but it appears to happen faster. And, in internet explorer, it spawns this text document on my desktop informing me of some dumb error that happened, and goes into all this technical CRAP that i can't understand, so it REALLY dosen't help me in figuring out the problem. It only happens on this computer, and the other computers are too damn slow for satisfactory play, this one is the fastest. Oddly enough, though, a while ago when i was a member, before i signed up, this happened all the time. then when i got P2P it RARELY happened.
  21. Well, i do expect it sometime this year. You know they are going to because they seem to be eliminating things of thier 'todo' list a lot faster than normal.
  22. actually... i think you have a point... F2Pers can runecraft and smith, (for maging and meleeing) but they cannot fletch therefore F2P rangers are at a HUGE disadvantage...
  23. I've come up with a possible solution to all the people downloading the malicious autotypers because their fingers are hurting from typing the same message over and over to sell somthing... its so simple, just add a new ':' command. Pin:. This would hold the message over your head until you go 'no less/more' to the guy who is trying to rip you off or 'ty' at the end of a trade (in other words, it stays there until you enter somthing else). If you want animations and colors, simply type "Pin:Green:Wave:Selling abby whip 9 mil" or somthing like that (excuse me if i got that price wrong) and the animation will loop. This would also not cause the chat box to overflow like it does with autotypes (the ones that work, and aren't malicious) because it only appears in the chat box once but remains over the player's head. This would stop all those stupid keyloggers/viruses/spywarez from getting on to your computer when you try to download a fake/working but malicious autotype. I personally tried one and it didn't even work, big clue that somthing got onto my computer, and it did, PerfectKeylogger it was called. And i bearly managed to get rid of it. But if it (the autotype) had worked i might not have been so supicious, and probally been hacked, unless the user using the keylogger has already since had an IP ban. P.S: I know that there are registry values associated with keyloggers, the scan detected those and they were removed, and i checked back a week later and there was no trace of it.
  24. Yes, i agree totally that theese capes have little practical use in P2P and need to go where they are needed most... where all da wars are going on, F2P. Peronix
  25. look up 'frigates' As for the idea it self, it is just okay... but I really don't like any of your idea's on the matter. The general concept of it is fine though well im no naval expert, but I'm fairly sure that a clipper (if thats the right word for it) is still far faster than a frigate. American frigates would have to be the model, as the frigates of the 1800's were the best of the time. I'll post more info. Here's a Clipper: http://www.azimut2001.com/images/sfondi ... er.*Format disabled due to security reasons* as you can see, it has many many sails, and would be faster than a frigate since it is more streamlined. http://web.bvu.edu/students/seelfre/ima ... te.*Format disabled due to security reasons* that is a frigate, fewer sails, short rounded body made to take a beating. Holds more cannon than the clipper since you han have several gun decks you guys have got to remember, we're talking medevil times here in runescape... yes there still were ships and pirates, which is why there are pleanty of the scurvy guys in brimhaven. but i really doubt they had 1800's model clippers... frigates, thats more likely.
