If it's a coordinate clue (numbers) you get a mage. HOWEVER. You don't get a wizard if it's a map clue (picture) or a riddle clue (words). I've dug under the sapphire near the spider's nest in the deep wilderness for a clue and didn't have to fight a wizard because it was a riddle.
