The pope is not God. He has no right to make such a judgment. Life is what it is, life. I always thought that the word of the Pope is the word of God? That's a Catholic belief. Even in the Bible, the Apostle Peter, the first pope is at odds with the apostle Paul, because Peter was acting like Christianity was exclusive to Jews only. Peter recognized his faults and changed his ways.

I don't think that the religious want to ban condoms (aside from die-hard Catholics). Most Christians I know believe that sex is something to be enjoyed by a married couple - not only for procreation, but also, just to be enjoyed. And Merc - that's fine, I'll take your word on those stats. What do you think about this? Do you think it is bias?

I'm going on the assumption that most abortions happen just because the mother doesn't want to deal with the consequences of having sex outside of a relationship where both partners want a child. In cases where hte mother's life is endangered, sure it's okay IMO. But I really don't think that four thousand women each day in the USA have life-endangering pregnancies? There is another reason that these women are aborting, and I can't see the majority of them being legitimate. (the site states that only 5% of abortions are because of rape, incest, fetal abnormalities or women's health problem, 95% are just because the mother doesn't feel like having a kid) Am I forcing my views on people? I'm not sure, maybe you should ask the dead fetus what it thinks. Oh wait...

I believe abortions should be allowed in cases of rape and the case where the mother's life is endagered; but incest? Are you saying that since the child would be messed up, it would be better that they never experience life at all? No leaving after 8:00pm is quite strict. I know when I was 16 my parents trusted me enough to let me stay out as late as I wanted - since there was nothing much for me to rebel against, I stayed a good kid. The more you compress your son's desires, the more he will want to rebel. The way I see it, as soon as he gets out, he'll be living quite wildly, unless you start giving him some freedoms. As for when he should move out, I can't really see him being financially ready for this at 16, or 18 for that matter.

No, because those things are necessities. People need their lawns mowed, their dishes washed, their money for life. My problem isn't that pornography makes money; at least the women are getting something out of the self-degredation. It's the objectification of women that is so sick. I agree (to an extent) with Kantian ethics - treat people as ends in themselves, not as means to an end.

I've been realizing lately that I really don't like it when people use the law to justify something. That's a little shallow - we all know that pornography is legal, but what we are asking is, is it good? Is it right? Or maybe they're moaning to "us dudes" who instead of directing them towards good jobs or helping them out financially - make our shallowness evident by directing them towards self-degredation as a form of work. I rarely (I have never) met a girl whose main goal in life was to become a porn star/prostitute. It usually seems to be a last resort for women.

I disagree with the government on this one. At the age of 13 we are supposed to decide what we are going to do for the rest of our lives? It's ridiculous, really. They blow everything way out of proportion. None of my friends and I know what we "want to be", yet we're in university, just taking courses about things we enjoy doing! It will most likely end up in a job that we enjoy doing - but until then, we have no idea. Just take life one day at a time and do what you like.
