School is great here, only 17 hours of class/week, most of which are java & discrete math for comp sci. Plus I'm on reading week right now which no one could complain about!

Your standing on religion
Yea, this has been bumped far too many times, and there is a thread on the first page here that is very similar.

Science may give you scientific answers but it by no means improve people. Maybe their circumstances, but science can't do anything about people themselves. While there may not be a scientific formula for "improving people" religion certainly isnt the only way. When did I say religion in my post? It was a post against science being the end-all of any question. When did I say religion in my post? It was a post against science being the end-all of any question. BUT even if I DID say that religion improves people, taking a few examples are *not* going to prove that religion in general does not help people. When a plane crashes, do you blame aerodynamics? No, you blame the application of aerodynamics. Same with religion - when people do stupid things, do you blame religion? You shouldn't, you should blame the people with the bad applications of religion.

MSN Virus
No. Any site that tells you there is, is trying to get you to download some crap. http://www.blockstatus.com/msn/delete-checker That is the one I use and so far nothing bad has happened I don't know why you'd want to know who has blocked you :| first, people block others for legitimate reasons, second, ignorance is bliss, third, it's an invasion of *their* privacy.

Olympics On Friday
TSN only ranked USA 7th out of the 12 teams playing in the tourney. Canada was ranked first, and this is pretty much the only event I actually care about. Let's go for a mens AND womens hockey gold repeat!

Your Theory of Creation - Life, The Universe & Everythin
Would you rather we were never created, or created without free will?

Quite possibly one of the best blonde jokes ever
Haha, that's awesome...

I would say that you having a choice would have been God's will, but the choice itself would not be God's will (assuming you are sinning, for the sake of this argument), even though He knows we will mess up. Maybe it's just something you can or cannot accept, but I believe that God giving us free will is more loving than making us robot followers with no say - because God would rather someone freely reject Him than be forced into "choosing" Him. Btw, I like your thoughts on infinites.

So then explain to me how infinity moments have passed before now, when each moment we experience after now, just adds a moment to the infinity. If there's no beginning then how did we get here? :|

Your Theory of Creation - Life, The Universe & Everythin
Exactly, my point exactly. Lionheart was saying that an infinite number of moments has passed before now, and I think that isn't possible, because you would have to assign a value to this "number". No, by my definition we can never actually show, in actuality, all of the digits in pi. Just like there are an infinite number of points F between points A and B, doesn't mean that there is an actual infinite - it's just a theory, because these points don't take up time/space - if we tried to write them all down, it would be impossible, because there isn't enough time/space to hold it.

You're using a false analogy. Bush and his administration might be absurd in your opinion, but the idea that they exist is not absurd. The idea that an actual infinite can exist, is absurd, especially when talking about time. Think about it - if an infinite amount of moments had to have passed before this - then this moment could never have to pass, because each moment (including this, and every moment after this) would just become part of that infinite amount of time. Therefore an infinite amount of time can never pass, because you can always add one more moment to it. I've taken calculus and passed already. Doesn't it seem odd to you that infinity in calculus is a theoretical number, and that an actual infinite can never be produced?. Infinites cannot exist in actuality.

Aah, so an infinite amount of time has passed before this moment? I don't think so. That's logically, scientifically, and mathematically ludicrous. um, explain how it is any of those? how can time not pass? if time is in fact infinite, its not infinite just into the future, its just as infinite into the past. I suggest you take time to think about infinites and the absurdities that are created from them. I don't want to spoonfeed logic to you.

Burning of European Embassies in the Middle East
Sorry, let me rephrase that. I do blame them, they are responsible for their actions, but I can understand why they did what they did. It doesn't make it right, but I can't say I feel entirely sorry for the other side.

I see no problem with self-censoring topics that can cause problems. However, I see a MAJOR problem with others censoring such topics. Who is to decide which topics are suitable and which are not, the opinion-police? I don't care if they publish comics of the most horrible sort, I value freedom much higher than this kind of ethics. Freedom is not a priviledge that you or anyone can take away (which the term 'responsible use' seems to suggest), it is a right. Freedom is a pretty vague term though. Once you start insulting Islam, you are stepping mighty close to treading on their freedom of religion. If you really value your personal "freedom" over other people... then more power to you I guess. I'd say more, but I consider freedom of speech a privelege, and I'm not about to abuse that privelege/right by being rude and unloving to other people.

Your Theory of Creation - Life, The Universe & Everythin
Two things I've recently come up with. If God exists then can we assume, for the moment, that he would make us as "good" as possible. So, going with this idea, why don't teeth last a lifetime without brushing them and why isn't your entire body made of the skin that's on your elbow? (Tough stuff). I have a problem with your assumption, in that "good" is a very vague term, and can be equivocated on. Perhaps "good" as possible would require us to maintain our bodies, to learn to take care of ourselves, and this is part of how we do that. I believe it was John Hick who said that we need an imperfect world and the incentives it contains to improve ourselve and become moral persons. Think about worlds A and B. A is perfect, everyone is perfect, there is no bad, no evil. Without bad, and evil, there is nothing outstanding, nothing great, nothing making life worth living. It's like the Matrix, the people rejected the perfect world. World B, however contains evil, things wrong, and this means there are things for us to overcome, to improve, life is so much more exciting! I can honestly say, I'd take world B over world A any day. Brushing teeth and imperfect skin.... just part of an imperfect world that I'd prefer I guess :)

I think the whole situation is ridiculous, starting with the comics. They're offensive, they're making fun of many people's beliefs. Then other countries republished them to prove their freedom of speech?!!? Ridiculous, immature, and sad. I don't blame the muslims one bit.
