  1. Wow, there's so much to respond to here :P I'm not going to cover all I want to, because it would take me all night, so it'll be a random collection of stuff. First of all - Sidewinder - cut the insults. Second of all - Dark Tigra- cut the insults. So, with the whole "what about the people that don't hear about God?".... I would point you to Romans 1:20 (and it *is* logical to use scripture as an argument, since you're asking what *our* "religion" says about the matter. ("they" referring to all men, as shown in earlier verses) And dark tigra said something about how we'd call babbling idiots 'insane', and you wanted proof that Jesus wasn't one of those? Well, look at the following it generated. People back then weren't stupid, you know. If he really was insane, people wouldn't follow Him, just like they wouldn't today. Just like we can read what he said, in the gospels, and see that he wasn't insane. He was very level-headed and logical. But of course, if you read, looked into the matter, you'd know that. And for Christianity being a cult - dark tigra, you obviously missed my post on application vs. principle. Read it again, and then prove that Christianity is a cult without looking into the principle yourself. Anyways, I'd love to go way more indepth and talk about more, but I'm just going to hit the submit button....
  2. You might want to read up some information on christians http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_crusade http://www.halexandria.org/dward220.htm http://www.christianitytoday.com/histor ... jun13.html Seems like an overglorified cult to me, I have no idea how christians can still claim their purity and righteousness in history when their own history is filled with pretty much blood and nothing else? Did you even read my post? Applications mean absolutely nothing to Christianity.
  3. The fact is alot of christians do force it upon others, and they do so call "read between the lines" of the bible to make up things. They do influence peoples lives in which they have no right. Also paganism, if my understanding of it through the da vinci code is correct it was a worship to godesses? Can someone please verify if the actual factual things within the da vinci code is real on paganism? First, the davinci code is fiction, so I wouldn't take anything it says for fact, even if it is based on some true things. Secondly, I agree with all you've said, sadly. As a Christian, I believe that the principle (Christinianty) has not been applied correctly by Christians, but this does *not* make Christianity wrong. Principle: Aerodynamics Application: Plane If a plane crashes, is it aerodynamics fault? Definately not, it's the planes design, and application of aerodynamics fault. Principle: Christianity Application: Crusades (for example). The crusades were terrible, horrible. They were done in the name of Christianity, but it was the application that was incorrect, not the principle. Christianity as a principle is a beautiful thing; but it is very rarely applied correctly. But please, do try and express your distaste in a more docile way :P
  4. So is it disturbing that the public school system has a cirriculum that kids are *required* to learn? That's forcing children what to believe just as much as this case. Children should be taught about all major religions, purely for the educational value. There is however a difference between teaching children that Christians believe in God, and teaching children that God exists. This seems obvious enough. I'm not familiar with the school system where you live, so I have no idea what they must and must not learn there. . That sounds pretty absolute to me. And even if it isn't; So what is it? Are things right or wrong? Your entire post hinges on this one decision, and so far, you've been shown to support both sides. Don't be ridiculous. The first quote concerns "natural rights", IE, what is right and what is not from a philosophical perspective. The second concerns my personal opinion, which I do not consider to be the "One True". I'm arrogant, but not that arrogant. My personal opinion on this matter is that anyone who takes upon himself the right to choose which religion may not be taught to others is an idiot, for lack of a better word. The judge in question qualifies. Christianity is currently the leading religion in the western world, but contrary to what many seem to think this does not make it any better than any other religion. Thanks for clarifying :D
  5. Justification: A parent teaches their child to murder an innocent baby every day. Relevance? The article already said it would be understandable were they exposing the child to drugs or any similar thing which could do them harm. I wasn't talking about the article. He said a cookie for anyone who can explain to him how prohibiting teaching something to a child.... etc. Surely you saw that when you quoted it? So is it disturbing that the public school system has a cirriculum that kids are *required* to learn? That's forcing children what to believe just as much as this case. Having a judge decide what is and what isn't good religion is sick? . That sounds pretty absolute to me. And even if it isn't; So what is it? Are things right or wrong? Your entire post hinges on this one decision, and so far, you've been shown to support both sides. And just for the record - God did *not* commit genocide against his people, he exiled them, after countless (and by countless I mean quite a few) warnings. He also had a plan for their redemption *before* he exiled them. They knew what would happen if they turned away. I mean, this might not justify it in your eyes, but think about it. If you tell a child - if you do this, then these are the consequences. The child says okay, and then goes ahead and does whatever they weren't supposed to do anyways. Can you possibly say it's wrong to follow through with that the child *knew* was coming beforehand? Maybe if you backed that statement up with the scripture you got it from, or maybe read the Bible firsthand (maybe you have, who knows, but this post doesn't show it), I'd count you as a trustworthy source on the Bible.
  6. Justification: A parent teaches their child to murder an innocent baby every day. This, should not be allowed to be taught. And it is justified within the boundaries of international moral law. What's my point? Some things should *definately* not be taught to children. There's a line that should not be crossed. I give no opinion on this issue specifically, but this whole "American freedom" thing is always abused and taken out of context.

    Ouiji Board?

The general track record for Ouiji boards overall is not good. Apparently there have been family breakups, suicides, murders, financial ruin, etc. Most of which can be traced back to use of an Ouiji board. Take it with a level head though. Usually only the bad things about things go reported ;) I meant track record as in accuracy :P but what you said is also quite important. I'm just a sceptic I guess ;) Bedtime!

    Ouiji Board?

Hilarious, because egging houses is awesome and we should all do it and make people who work 9-5 clean it up so they can work some more! Little brat. Ouiji boards are scary....I stayed up one night with some other people playing it, and to my supprise most of the things we asked were right...Then they started asking "when will I die", and I told them to burn the board if they're going to ask questions like that. It would have to be 100% to actually be divinely inspired. Even I could be right some of the time. But does that make me psychic? Not at all. There's no way to prove that it actually works except for its track record. And I really, really doubt that it's a good one.
  9. Of course, a liberal view on society is the most acceptable right? Accepting everything as "okay", is in style nowadays. That's because we don't look at the motives behind things anymore - the end justifies the means nowadays. Ever think *why* bikinis are in fashion, *why* women wear them? Because shallow men think that that's all there is to a woman - a body. And women, to find acceptance and "love", buy into those lies - and apparently this sells skimpy clothing. So don't say what they're wearing is okay - sure, go to the beach, and they're all wearing that, just like in the commercial. But try and look into the motives behind the wearing, and the clothing, and the acting. It is the *motive* behind it, that shows the decay in society. It's all showing shallowness; not looking at someone's heart, it's all about looking at someone's breasts nowadays - and that's the problem.
  10. We're complaining about people who are too shallow to look a girl in the eyes while talking to her. If you're desperate enough to go to TV commercials to become "satisfied" with your opposite-sex relational life, then honestly, it's going to sell, and that's the sad thing. I'm not complaining that they're showing the commercials, because shallow people will actually by into it. I'm complaining that society has become so "accepting" that these things actually sell, and are considered alright to show to anybody that happens to hit the power button on their remote control. I don't blame the company, I blame society. For buying into it. Do you guys (that enjoy this) honestly feel satisfied and turned on by things like this? I honestly want to know. That's a realllly big stretch. And I really doubt that this is the best way to be exposing kids to "sexuality". Showing a half-plastic female in next to no clothes is hardly giving kids a healthy exposure to "sexuality".
  11. I absolutely loved KotoR. KotoR II would be fun, if you don't mind always having absolutely no idea what's going on in the story... Obsidian released it waaay too early. I guess the storyline makes sense in the end, but it's really weak. If they're coming out with the third they have alot to patch up.
  12. Thats not entirely true,Peter. Jesus created the first christian congregations; Matthew 3: 13 -16 and Matthew 4:18 Christianity had already excisted for 3 and a half year when he was killed. I disagree. Jesus had to be killed - he was the passover lamb (symbolically). -He had to be perfect, like the lamb (see Hebrews 9:14 for Jesus, Exodus 12:5 for the lamb) -This sacrifice saves us from death (see John 3:16 for Jesus, Exodus 12:13 for the lamb) -It was sacrificed to bring us life! (Canaan was the symbol of true "life" in the new testament - it was so because the Israelites had to put their faith in God and let Him do it for them - this is what the Christian life is today!(see Galations 2:20 for Jesus, Exodus 3:8 for the lamb) There are more parallels but I won't go to indepth. I believe He had to die.
  13. I'm going to give what I will call the "Christian perspective" lest the Jews here freak on me. Basically what we believe is that God instituted the "first" or "old" covenant. That involved the Mosaic Law, for example laws on sacrifices, festivals, commonlaw, etc. The problem was, the Jews were following it out of obligation, in other words, they weren't doing it for God, they were doing it out of obligation - something that cannot change the heart attitude. This heart attitude is shown through Isaiah 29:13 - Also the fact that God desires our hearts, and not our actions, is shown through Micah 6:6-8 - But the Jews of the Old Testament could not grasp this, and their heart attitude caused them to turn towards sin (if you read the Old Testament, the Jews live as if the Law doesn't even exist). So God, to save his people, brought in the New Testament - through the promised one (shown in Genesis 12, God's promise to Abram to bless all nations through him), Jesus Christ. There are prophecies all over the Old Testament that we believe Christ fulfilled, I'll give only one example. Micah 5:2 We believe Christ fulfills this prophecy, in Matthew 1:1-16 (as shown in another one of my posts) we see that Christ comes from Judah. Now in Matthew 2:1 we see; A few verses down Matthew also makes reference to Micah 5:2. So (from a Christian perspective) God wants his chosen people (the Jews) to turn to Christ! This is the new covenenant that God created, for His people's salvation. But part of this new covenant is that non-Jews can also accept Christ's forgiveness and salvation. Acts 11:18 So that's how they tie together :) And on the Jesus being white deal - it's a non-issue to the Christian faith... it doesn't really matter :P
  14. The main thing is that Jews are still waiting for the messiah promised through Abraham in Genesis 12:3 - that all the peoples of the Earth will be blessed through Abraham. From the Christian's point of view this is Jesus Christ - a descendent of Abraham, and the entire world is blessed through Abraham as his descendent offers salvation to *all*. Note: Christ is shown as Abraham's descedent in the first 16 verses of the NT

Because cussing is the true test of a man
  16. Meh... I guess there wasn't a wide range to choose from :P The questions were all the same anyways. It's interesting though :)
  17. That wouldn't be good... the person wouldn't look injured :P
  18. Cell > 3.2Ghz processor I wasn't informed of any benchmarks being released? In any case, some sites seem to claim the Xbox 360 uses three CPU cores each running at 3.2ghz. Whether this would outdo the Cell, which is also a multicore processor, isn't something that can be told by statistics. As we all know the hertz means very little when determining actual power. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox360/factsheet.htm If that site isn't credible I don't know what is ;) And it would appear that it *is* compatible with old games.... http://www.xbreporter.com/xbox_2_news.php And cut the "fanboy" argument *now*. Else this gets locked. I don't see any reason why this thread should get locked. Its just a good discussion on the next gen system, no swearing or racism or anything inappropriate. It actually appears to be an old argument continued on this thread about the old systems... what with the "fanboy" insults on every post really seems to make this a "bad argument" as opposed to what you would say a "good discussion". Albeit you do talk about the xbox 360 every now and then, the comments on this system seem to be put there just to make the argument look fairly on topic. Notice how I said "cut the fanboy argument", not "cut the decent discussion".

  20. I've never cried, but 'The Pianist' and The Passion of the Christ got me pretty close. Btw, the Pianist was more crying out of anger. Which is what I tend to do, I very very very rarely cry out of sadness or pure emotion. Mostly out of anger and frustration.
  21. If immature people didn't break the rules and get around the censor this wouldn't have to happen. In this case, the players are more at fault than Jagex! If you don't want there to have to be a censor, then don't give them any reason to create one!
  22. What's next? f2p p2p? Honestly, leave f2p how it is. If you want to fletch, then give JaGex their $5.
  23. I totally agree with Wyrm's first and second posts (I didn't read the others)... Honestly, I lose more of my social life when I'm addicted to books - an mmorpg *never* kept me up late, but some books keep me up very very late into the early morning even. There's alot of things you can be addicted to, and I'd much rather be addicted to an mmorpg than drugs of any kind... But I'm not ;) the only "sign" that I show in my life is using the internet every day. But that's the only one. Good post :) great to see some originality on the OT board for once :D
  24. Boys of Summer - The Ataris? (redone, originally an Eagles song)
