  1. Just curious as to what the users here believe truth to be (epistemologically, I guess). I believe that truth is an absolute. There may be certain opinions (ie. if food tastes "good" or not), but overall truth is truth, people can be *wrong*. No matter how hard you may believe something, you are either right or wrong.
  2. That's really too bad :( it's been crazy weather here lately, lightning striking in my eyesight every ten seconds since last night...
  3. around here is a kid thats allergic to the sun  its kinda weird because he has to wear what looks like a thin space suit everytime he goes outside. I saw a kid like that once. As for allergic to water? I'm going to have to disagree with you there. Any animal can't live unless his/her/its cells go though cellular respiration (the 'burning' of surgar within the cells to create energy), and a product of cellular respiration is water... so yea... You'd die instantly if you were allergic to water. (not to mention the humidty in the air, lol) I believe it's like a small irritant, like mild effects. Whatever, it doesn't matter. My point still stands in context, when you take out specifics.
  4. That site is so five years ago :P emails like "trevor the vampire" will never be topped by any new stuff.
  5. Hahah, so true! And to go along with that... Same for me. Why would anyone do such a thing? You're doing those tests and stuff for yourself, and not for anyone else. If you're cheating, you're only kidding yourself. // Ruzvi. Kidding yourself, and getting good grades = good job Kidding yourself, and getting good grades = good job for a while until they realize that you can't do it without 24/7 supervision = fired = bad rep = screwed for life ^_^
  6. Hey Merc - with the alka-seltzer thing... like, where do we draw the line? I know that 1 in every 1 000 000 000 000 people are allergic to water. What if one of his players was dehydrated? Should he refrain from giving them a waterbottle (which in this case would act as a medication), to get rid of it? I mean, he could react and die, right? I know this is an extreme example and irrelevant to your point :P I just wanted to draw attention to the fact that just because it's possible that someone may die from something, doesn't mean you shouldn't give it - because I'm pretty sure that in this World, there is an allergy to everything, and it's possible that anyone can die from pretty much anything, in theory.
  7. I didn't, but on that topic, what do you guys think about Neville killing Voldy? The prophecy said it could be either and everyone dismissed the Neville option without even thinking about it :? I would love it it Neville kills Voldy right in front of Harry since Harry's always so "I have to do this myself" Impossible - the prophecy *at first* could have been about Harry or Neville. But part of the prophecy was that Voldemort would try to kill (something along these lines) the one that the prophecy spoke of. So because Voldemort tried to kill Harry, the prophecy is now about Harry... so in a sense, Voldemort chose who the prophecy spoke of.
  8. As much as I hate to say it, I agree with the guy that wouldn't let you give it to her - though that is not my position on how things *should* be. It's sick - but it's true, that in some cases, if you had given a parent's daughter alka-seltzer, you'd have been sued. That's how ridiculous today's society is. I hate the court system, I hate lawsuits, why can't everyone get along? Why can't people just be wronged for a change? Be humble, step back, and take an apology without a million dollars attached to it... Meh :P it seems as soon as 1am hits I start to rant... [/rant].
  9. I completely disagree with satanism - it's a completely selfish religion - all about "indulging yourself" or doing "whatever you want to feel good"... Meh, I'll just copy + paste my argument on page one. *shrugs*
  10. I saw up until the girl walks into the drug dealer that "likes girls" apartment for the second time and all the other guys were in there, and then they make her do something, and then I was like.... :| *leaves* and I got to see that sweet stars/lightning show outside :D
  11. So do you mean drunk experiences? Or just awesome things that you'll never forget for no reason at all? As for drunk experiences, no. Never. One of my goals in life is to never spend a cent on alcohol. To me, it tastes bad, costs too much, and makes you look like an idiot. I have amazing times with my friends, without the little bottle ;) But there have been a couple experiences like that, namely just walking through woods listening to music, like you. Or along a lake - I particularily like moments like these when it's dark (stars overhead), or raining. Like last week, my friends were watching Requiem for a Dream, and the really sick last ten minutes came on, and I was like "screw this, I don't want to be seeing this"... so I walked outside and lay down on the grass. And there were overcast clouds, moving so fast - and there were many breaks in the clouds, so you'd catch the stars half the time as well - and sheet lighting going off every ten seconds... it was incredible.
  12. You bumped a two day old thread.... for this? I'm sorry, but this has gone too far. I'm actually at a loss for words. Grow up. What would *possibly* possess you to do a thing like this? If you weren't being so ignorant, you'd have checked his post history, and see that !!!! he hasn't made a post since three days ago. It's due to *your* and *elks* flaming of him. (See his post in OT) The fact that you guys would go out of your way, yes *out of your way* (this post by you right here proves it) to make this kid feel like crap is the reason that everyone talks about how "tip.it/scapeboard's community used to be better", or "everyone around here just flames". This is incredibly sad, and I really hope you'll use half your brain before you make your next post. Honestly, flaming like this never does *any* good whatsoever. If fulfilling your selfish desires and making yourself feel better is all you care about, so be it. But don't bring that here, and don't take some other kid down with you. Grow up.
  13. Well obviously you've gotta talk with her :P Um, first, make sure that you make it 100% completely, perfectly, without a doubt clear - that you are 100% completely, perfectly, without a doubt ending the "more-than-friends" relationship. The worst is when a girl thinks that there's still a chance. She needs to know for a fact, that you mean what you're saying. As for tactics? I'll leave that to a female - they would know better than I, how to be told ;)
  14. http://www.snopes.com/photos/gruesome/johnny.asp Apparently it's false. They have a link to the directors website, and apparently he just made a short film for a festival or sommat. I'd link you to his site but there's some disturbing images.
  15. I'd give 'em back. They'd notice they were missing, and the first people they'd ask about them are the employees. That's of course not to mention it's stealing and dishonest.
  16. You know what he meant. If this happened to a group of murderers I don't think you'd be as sad... maybe it's not how we should feel, but most of the time it is.
  17. Well the World Series of Poker was the (or one of the) originals. I dislike the fad that's going around now, but back when it wasn't a fad I really enjoyed it :) I also like Phil Ivey... but ah... can't think of his name, his first name is "Chris" and his nickname is Jesus I think, he's got a master's degree in statistics and psychology...

    how HOT?

Not too hot this week... but last week it hit 113 F (in Canada)
  19. I used to see gasheart daily in the mining guild... then he/she (character was a he way back then), disappeared for a year, then I came to the forums and saw him/her as a huuuuuge merchant.
  20. I think everyone trying to reconcile Snape are just appealing to consequences :P they want him to be good so badly that they'll create this super crazy scheme to make him good after all. I think we can use Ockham's razor, I'll provide an example: Situation 1: This is the real 'insane' posting. Situation 2: This is an alien, who over took insane's body, is using his same computer (and therefore ip match), and is typing using the same grammatical and word style that insane uses. Obviously both could be possibly true - and who could tell at this point? But I think it is more reasonable to accept situation one, as it is simpler. Case and point? At this point in time, it is reasonable to believe that Snape is guilty - Dumbledore said that he himself can make mistakes. There is much more evidence pointing toward Snape being evil. Unless you twist and warp everything that you've read in the book somehow... the evidence is overwhelmingly favouring the evilness of Snape... I can't see how Snape could be more valuable than Dumbledore, of course this is unbased - but I think it's logical to assume that Dumbledore is of more worth than Snape, possibly in any situation.
