I'm curious why you would feel the need to bring religion into it. Yes, you do 'think' you know where you're going because you can never know what god is thinking. By being 100% certain that you will go to heavan, you're basically comparing yourself to jesus christ. Dogmatic evolutionist... I'm just wondering what the gain is from a degeneration into sensless name calling. Can we all evolve please? This isn't about what we believe, it's about how valid science is at uncovering truth and thus far there have been no alternative systems presented although some people seem to take offense to particular scientific theories. Why don't you take offense to others? Why not do some inquiries, find some evidence against evolution for yourself and send it to a scientific journal? That would be more productive, I'm sure and if your claims are in any way scientifically sound, I'll guarantee you they will listen.

Try to look at it from an atheist's perspective though. We look around, and see all the religion, all the misinformation about fundamentalism, interpretations and the like. You're right, we live amongst and respect the good muslims, and christians, and jews and all others, but not because of their religion. We judge them by the content of their character, not by their religious beliefs. We wonder what the potential of these people would be if they weren't held back by religion, we wonder how many lives might have been saved without religion, we wonder how much better the world might be without not only fundamentalism and extremism, but without moderate religion, without the indoctrination of children before they can make up their minds, without the segregation of men and women for no other reason than an ancient scripture says so. We wonder what the world might be like if unquestionable faith wasn't taught to be a virtue, and something to be automatically respected. So, forgive us when we seem irate and aggressive, forgive us when we become frustrated and angry and throw quotes and facts at you to try and curb the spread of misinformation. We mean well, we really do. Some may feel sorry for us, living without god, but please don't, because we have come to appreciate the amazement and wonder of the world as it is. The world suddenly becomes a lot more beautiful, and life so very precious when you realise that this is all we have. We live our lives for the world, not for an afterlife. Evolution is mutations in our our cells that evolutionist can't back up because it happens so rarely. An ironic thing is that our bodies reject mutation, while evolutionist claim that evolution is beneficial. How are our cells suppose to realize when they have discovered a beneficial mutation? Evolution is too far fetched. Mutations in our cells dont happen as rarely as you suggest, and yes, they can be beneficial due to the fact that they are random i.e. they don't pick and choose which is going to be beneficial and which is going to be damaging. And what do you mean how are your cells supposed to realise? It's in your genes, i.e. the mutations tell your cells that there is a mutation (although, of course, they don't realise it, they are cells, they just do what the mutation programmed them to do.) I'm hoping you knew that all of these mutations happen in the process of sex cell production, yes? In other words, due to the natural mechanism that offspring are given pairs of chromosomal information from mother and father to gain variety and thus a greater immunity to disease and the natural occurance of mutations (base pair mispairing) when replicating DNA, the offpring produced can have genes which tell them completely different things from thier parents, i.e. they have evolved. Genetics is your friend. I might try and explain the whole system of gene mutation and the subsequent evolution of species a bit later. And I can guarantee you it wouldn't be so far fetched if you didn't think it would make you go to hell. God is bigger than that mate, you won't wind up in hell for accepting evidence and what nature tells us about this planet. We were all made as logical, enquiring beings. Try to supress that and your basically saying god made a mistake.

That's an interesting question, the simple answer is, environmentalists love it. In actual fact, the idea of global warming was proposed by a Sweedish scientist on a BBC program because at the time everyone was worried about global cooling (kind of ironic). The sweedish scientist speculated that an increase in CO2 might actually heat the Earth up by a few degrees or so, but he was laughed at by most of the scientific community (kind of ironic). Margaret Thatcher then caught wind of this theory, and ran with it. At the time she was struggling to wrestle power from the coal unions in the UK, so she needed something to reduce our supposed dependency on coal. She thought the middle east was too unstable to rely on for oil, so tried to get nuclear power started. But to do so effectively she needed to convince people that using fossil fuels was dangerous, and hence she founded what would become the IPCC. Then, the Berlin Wall came down, and suddenly we had an influx of ideological marxist type people getting involved in western affairs. Living in communist russia for a few years, they generally hated the idea of big capitalist oil companies, so suddenly we have a new army of environmentalists who know how to use propoganda and misinformation very effectively. Nowadays, enough people have been swindled that politicians tap into the vast support global warming type policies can bring them, the press love the sensationalist stories of "we're doomed" and the propoganda continues. Interesting. Seems plausible, but at the risk of repeating myself, I'd rather we, as a race, learnt and worked towards weening ourselves off of the dependancy of fossil fuels. I'll give these ideas a bit of a look in though. I'm never one to write something off without having a look and evaluating for myself.

That may be true, and it's always beneficial to question theories, but I'm curious, what is the benefit of faking global warming? If the science is falsified to make us less likely to use fossil fuels, then there's a gargantuan (never used that word before :? ) loss in profits for oil, coal and gas companies. A big ditto on that one. Tell us the parts you don't find credible and I'll see if I can make more sense of it for you. Lionheart put it pretty well. An understanding of genetics makes evolution incredibly simple and logical and I suggest you get a basic knowlege of genetics as well.

Realize that things often get out of hand in arguments, mentioned religious views even indirectly and they are fair ground for the next person to discuss. Although I am somewhat curious on what makes religion so special that it can't be debated. You completely bash evolutionist views by stating "my signature is very accurate. It is impossible for a cell to 'occur' by chance." Why isn't an atheist's view under the same protection from debate that you want for faith? I'm not an atheist but being a biology major I have spent hundreds, soon to be thousands of hours studying texts on biology for exams and to further my education on the subject. You can say I have "devoted my life" to biology. So what gives you the right to step in and say everything I believe in is false? Personally I believe you can since that is how we learn, but as to why you are offended when people discuss your faith... I am puzzled. You can discuss my religious views. But seeing as people only do this to pass their side as correct it is quite inappropriate. Especially since their reasoning is usually to prove that religion and science aren't coherent then use scientific circular reasoning to say that religion can't be accurate because it doesn't correlate. No doubt that people will rebuttal the former sentence with some sort of form "religion doesn't go along with science because "insert reason"." My beliefs go along with science. I believe in every scientific theory that my mind can grasp. If my mind can't grasp something, for example the origin of the universe. I have religion, and all you have is speculation. But seeing as we both choose our paths we agree to disagree. I'm not offended when you discuss my faith. I just don't think it is very constructive to the conversation to always bash it. Also, you saying that you wish to fill the gaps with god is fine, your belief is your belief, but that dosen't mean that the science that attempts to explain those gaps is wrong.

Actually diseases are good and very important to evolution believe it or not. Too true. The more we postpone disease affecting our lives is the greater time the pathogens have to evolve thereby making our medications obsolete. It happened with penecillin didn't it? Not too sure on that one, sorry if I'm wrong there.
