Proof that it never existed? ~Defender~ Proof that I'm not god? Proof that there isn't a purple monkey in the middle of the sun? Proof that Santa isn't real? Proof that Cobain, Lennon, Dimebag, Hendrix and Hicks aren't still alive, living in my basement? Chop chop defender, I want evidence that my beliefs aren't false. You have failed miserably to see that the point of science is not to prove people's beliefs wrong or right. Evidence may suggest something, but true science isn't based on vested interests. The onus is on you, as your beliefs go against what the overwhelming majority of scientists know about the phisical nature of this planet and the impossibilities of the account of Noah. Think about this for a second. Just put your brain back in and think. If I say that there is a purple monkey at the middle of the sun and write a comprehensive literary religous article on it, do you think that gives me the right to just say to scientists 'prove it's not there.' NO. Anyone remember my topic, the challenge? If you think that the flood actually happened, give it a go. Seriously, if you want your beliefs to have any academic weight, try it. There's a link near my sig.

Unfortunately? I don't really understand how that's unfortunate. Why would you want to argue with someone who believes in a Faith or a Religion, does it bother you? It bothers me that some religous folk flat out deny science, evidence and logic. Even worse is if they try and prove thier supernatural mythical stories using science. And ambassadar, although I realise you aren't pushing your points as an absolute proof or denial of modern mainstream scientific theories, here's a few things to ponder (this is going on the assumption whcih people make that the bible is the literal word of god. People who believe this usually [or have to] agree with the accound of Noah word for word). 1- The demensions of the ark (120m long, 20 wide or so? Can't remember) are such that twice every animal on the planet couldn't fit on it. Common sense. That's if you take the bible as literal fact, of course. 2- Freshwater lakes. :uhh: Why are there such things? Or did god take all of the salt out? :uhh: 3- Not enough water on the planet. I haven't any facts here to refute your ideas of water underground, but again, this just seems like fundamentalists trying to grab onto anything they can to see thier beliefs hold water (no pun intended). Again, common sense. I don't even really feel like digging up sources right now as the Ark theory holds virtually zero scientific weight and christians themselves continually assure that 'god did it' because it's just too mythical to assume otherwise. Someone brought up a good point. Why don't people believe in santa claus? Is it because he dosen't promise an afterlife? The thing that scares me about religion is an apparant (yet no where near always true) aspect of selfishness. I believe religion x because I want to live forever in heavan. I think if you are a Christian and this is your motivation (I'm not suggesting this is the motivation for any christians here) then you have totally missed the point of Jesus' teachings and selfless nature.
  3. I That song. And that album.

But if someone believed that God could do a miracle such as flood the Earth, it wouldn't be hard for someone to believe that God could perform a mircale, such as letting you survive and not having the Atmospheric Pressure crush your lungs. You can't argue using facts against a Faith-based believer. In some cases, unfortunately.

hehe Ok, you got me. :P Watch out for us in the world cup though. 3 in a row, here we come. :P (England lost the ashes 5-0. Gotcha!)

lol yet you still beat us at pretty much every sport (unless you count the crappy triangular series :D ) You can say that again. :P (because we lost)
  7. warri0r45 replied to Defender2516's topic in Off-Topic
As in it's scientifically provable or as in god did it?

LMAO, you do realise that "crime rate statistic map" is only for burglary you tool. I'm doubting the accuracy of it. Australia currently has the highest? :-k Well we were technically founded as a state of British convicts. It's in our blood I tells ya. :P

Again, I somehow have the urge to quote the comedian I did on the other topic. Do you have facts to back up your argument, or is America always number 1 in your mind? In overall, it is the best. Great military, powerful economy, growing population and extremely diverse. Countries like Finland and Sweden beat the US in things like health and economy but thats it, and its not by very much The first three things there don't mean much in my opinion. Our country's (Australia) treasurer continually harps on about how great our economy is yet all we do is sit on our hands when there is actuall progress to be made. It seems more evidant to me that politicians use that tactic as a vote grabber. A strong economy means people in your contry recognise it's a great place for capitalism and exploit it and capitalism breeds greed (just to reassure you, of course, a strong economy is better than a weak one). On the issue of military, of course, the USA's is killer, but when's the next world war going to be? We are all to interested in making money, only sectarian violence prevails in the world today. I hardly see that having a huge military makes your standards of living better unless you actually need that big of a military. Growing population makes a country better? China must be great, they're growing by the entire population of Australia (20 million) every x months. A good country to me means the very best chance for education, the very best healthcare, geographical beuty, low crime, friendly people, little drug problems etc. America may have many of these features, they may not (take the ice epidemic for example). If we really want to argue country 'x' has the best feature 'y' then we should really come up with some facts and thier sources. If we don't I won't be able to believe past everyone's bias, mine included. :P
  10. Does anyone at all understand what on earth that means? If you want me to ever take you seriously, please, just try and write something that makes sense.

  12. "Go back to bed America, your government has figured out how it all transpired, go back to bed America, your government is in control again. Here America, here's American Gladiators, watch this, shut up." Just a quote which immediately came to mind for some reason. Whoever guesses who said it gets a cookie.
  13. They're both incredible guitarists. Why compare them? It always comes down to opinion.
  14. Maybe we should turn this into one of those everyone vs. you debates. I wonder why I would say that. :-k A candidate for another topic, methinks. Do not tempt me to Capitilized my letters at you "warri0r45". For the Pain you shall Endure is far to great and unbearable. ~Defender~ I'm just about fed up with treating you like I would other maturer users of this forum. Lol d00d, I was just playing with you. I'm bored, don't take it offensive. :( ~Defender~ If all your posts are the same, I can never tell if you're being seious or joking. Perhaps try and contribute some sensible posts one in a while and I wont keep assuming you're a 11 year old [developmentally delayed].
  15. Ding ding! We have a winner! Offending religious people seems to be a big no-no in the Western world, for whatever convoluted reason. Due to that fact, the stronghold religions have on the western world is worrying to me. If someone has a religous view which impinges on someone elses liberal existance, then I believe it should be societies duty to uphold thier freedom and not wimp out and concede to political correctness.
  16. I was going to say, I'd have to agree with your line of thinking there as well, Bubsa. When people know you have money it just generates negative attention.

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that Sierra Leone was pretty dismal much like your typical war torn african country. :?
  20. Jesus is alive now? Sheesh. He went from run-of-the-mill Messiah to God himself to actually physically alive? How about no. Even if he does exist as the deity he's claimed to be (which isn't God himself), he isn't "alive". :P Pshsh... Just because He's not on Earth doesn't mean he's not still alive. Alive in our hearts or alive physically? Im assuming you mean the former. :? =P~
  21. "Take me (echoed once) back to the other Mexico." Gives me spine chills every time. \m/  Song - The Other Mexico Album - The Other Mexico Band - Lynchmada (a cookie for anyone who knows who they are).
  22. The downside of the peculiarities of taste I suppose.

Yea - I like everything about Australia except the politics :uhh: Other than that - excellent  I think Howard has met his match this year. I predict Rudd to win amongst the childish bickering. If I had the choice though, I wouldn't vote for either. (Hey, not a bad Idea :P ). I'm with Howard on nuclear power although, in my opinion, the country would progress more with Labour State and Federal governments. The educated person would see Howard and Costello are desperate for votes and thus attacking Rudd, although there is still a little bit of a question mark over his head for me. Just my 2 political cents. :?

With a very biased opinion, I'd say Australia. This place rocks. Plenty of opportunity and simply stunning geographically. All social systems are above average and bordering on excellent (I haven't studied, this is just from personal experience). The only problem is the school-girl attitude our two rival political parties have. They could do better and progress is halted somewhat because of thier childish bickering. Other than that, Aus rocks your socks. Oh and we rule at sport and beer drinking. :P
