What would you say to your level 3 self?
I played in the classic RS, started the year phats came out. I would have told myself to get as many as possible instead of dismissing it as a silly thing people were doing on christmas.

The OoC Presents: Newbie Appreciation Day! Date changed!
I think it's really personal choice.... if you think you would like to give them a newcomer map, then you should bring some with you. If some people can't be bothered, they should just teach them how to use the real map. Actually we should probably be teaching everyone how to use the World Map, eventually they are going to need it for the quests. ~Matt :) They probably dont need to know how to use it, just to know of its existence and how to get there. Celestrana, I'm not sure if anyone has gotten back to you over this tally thing. I'm gonna ask around.

The 10,000,000 cabbage drive! Over 3m in prizes
Part of the reason you may not get such a good reception here is that there is already a cabbage-picking organisation that is well established and known by many of the people on this board (as opposed to others where knowledge of the OoC is not known at all or to very few). Hence your idea of amassing cabbages probably will not sound so interesting and original that people will go "hey, that's cool, i think i'll try it out since ive never heard of cabbage collections", this is one of the possibilities. Another reason (and especially for disinterestedness of the ooc as you described) is that the OoC always been an organisation that picks cabbage merely for fun. It hoards it's stash and shows off the hard work of hundreds of people to the world, not sell it to the highest bidder. Of course if it wanted to, it could get 10m (more, I'm sure!) for selling it's stash, but it has never worked on this principle. Also, I will be honest with you here and tell you that the majority of the replies to the topic are from OoC members/affiliates.

The OoC Presents: Newbie Appreciation Day! Date changed!
I like the sound of this idea. Maybe we can give "skill tutorials" for specific skills to those who are interested, to perhaps build upon what was taught on Tutorial Island. For instance fishing, we could tell them where are good spots to fish at low level, where to buy fishing equipment, tips for lower-mid level also. If they seem keen and interested to listen, then the items we give them would help to kick-start training in this skill that they aspire to train.

Multi-Site Steel War 2 (May 19, 2pm EST)
So who is the TIF event leader who will be in charge of coordinating the event timings? Is there even one?

The NAD Discussion Page
The advice we give will help them learn how to play, the stuff we give will give them the ability to begin on pursuing the goals that they want to do. For instance, those wanting to become rangers will benefit from a bow and some starting arrows.

The OoC Presents: Newbie Appreciation Day! Date changed!
Of course you may, that's more than welcome :) I just thought of an interesting thing to note, if the man has no fishing rod, he may be able to catch no fish, and he will never eat :P

The OoC Presents: Newbie Appreciation Day! Date changed!
This is all very hypothetical, pondera. While you may have people who will invariably beg for items, these people will already have this mentality from the very start. NAD or no NAD, there will always be people who think this way. I do understand the point you are making, but I do not believe that our actions will end up catalyzing a reaction that injects hundreds of item-hungry beggars into RS. What we hope to do is to help people who, like you, had trouble at the start of the game because of lack of supplies. It is often very hard at this stage because while people know from Tutorial Island how to mine, how to smith, they often do not know what to do and do not have the resources to do it. And it is here that we believe we can help. Not by feeding the beggar machine that will always be there, but by helping the poor newbie who may not have the ability to start on acheiving his dream, not only with items to help him, but also with advice, as far as our personal time permits, to help him pursue this goal. Hopefully, through this, we should be able to make the first impressions of this game to a few players a much more friendly, happy one. And that goes out to all of you here, too. If you have the time, and the energy, don't just donate, but come down to the event too, help a newb or two out with advice and direction, generally just make the world a better place for these people.

The OoC Presents: Newbie Appreciation Day! Date changed!
Well, I do believe that our purpose is to help out the most newcomerish of newcomers, people that wont even have a set of bronze to help them by. I *think* we will be accepting donations of other stuff like steel and can give them out to people of the appropiate level who we see lack such armour. By the way, if you wish to donate anything to me, please add "Ax Avatar" in game, PM is on. I will be taking donations however on my OoC account, OoC Pok, who is not a member.

Mining Injustices
As far as I know, and this coming from a person who powermined from 77 to 85, so long as both persons can 1-hit the iron rock in question, the person who clicks first wins. Even if they may seem to hit the rock with the pickaxe at the same time. I dont have any conclusive evidence to prove this hypothesis, for one proving/disproving it will be too hard because human reaction times arent a constant factor and neither is lag. I am not too sure about coal, but I do believe coal should be easier for higher level miners.

~~~~~~all ye runecrafters look!!!!!~~~~~~
This isnt an "event", this should go in the Runecrafting section. As far as I know Mizz Frosty has a pretty successful air rune crafting company on w16, which is an F2p world, so both f2p and p2p people can rc on it
âš¢hady197's Blog --- â¢â¬¡
Comments: Some of the skills you are thinking of leveling will cost you a fair deal of cash. 99 Smithing, especially. Here we go... 59 Magic -> won't be too hard, just train offensive spells. or telegrab zammy wines. you will need the money. 70 Crafting -> Gold amulets, or hard leather. It's your choice. Amulets will take more actual time, but will need less effort are you can do Craft X, instead of manually doing hard leather (and tanning hides too, and swapping worlds to buy thread). 85 Mining -> this will be a true test of your patience. it took me three weeks to get from 77 to 85 powermining iron (btw i suggest not banking the ores if your thinking of it, the time you waste can be used earning money, and at a faster rate than if you sell the ores) 99 Smithing -> ambitious. very ambitious. im interested in what you have in mind to get there. 99 Cooking -> possible, not very costly depending on your method. my suggestion: get your cooking at which you dont burn lobs at all (70-ish), buy raw lobs 250 each, cook and sell (in bulk 200 each, or to pkers in sets of 100 for 25k) 60 wc & fm -> nothing much to say, chop willows, bank and burn later. 44 Prayer -> also, nothing much, you can get the bones yourself or buy big bones (which will cost you a fair bit of cash)
Newbie's selling lots of runes?
Let me stress that these accounts have no away of making their own money as they have no skills. They are not pure in any way. This leaves us with: Drop trading runes. Selling them for rs money. Selling rs money for rl money. (Risky investment in p2p newbie accounts) Main giving lots of money to these member accounts to buy and sell runes. Ive been looking at this guy's activities (no name will be disclosed). He's suddenly selling more deaths at 280ea and chaos runes 130ea. He doesnt seem to have me on Ignore (asked my pal to add him to check), and he certainly hasnt been world switching..seems to take away the second option
Newbie's selling lots of runes?
Ok my friend has elaborated on the real world item trading concept..they trade it to new accounts so if they get banned for real world trading only the new account is banned Still.. it seems a fair bit of investment to pay for membership on the new accounts in return for being able to sell the runes easier..
Newbie's selling lots of runes?
Merchanting & bot: They have no good skill. Thus how to get enough cash to get the money to buy so many deaths. I am talking about 10k deaths here that is like 2mil from the store AT LEAST. Drop trade: Why? Why risk getting the low lvl member banned and losing your real life money investment? These are MEMBERS WITH NO SKILL IN THE HIGHSCORES
-
Newbie's selling lots of runes?
Ok, let's say this is the case. They risk being banned for multi accounting. AND losing their p2p accounts (and hence cash) Also, this serves no purpose but to get money on their low lvl accounts. What for? They are not pures, they have no good skill... Forgive me but this sounds like a unlikely idea and I don't think the people/person behind this is stupid.
Newbie's selling lots of runes?
drop trade: why?? the guys he's dropping to are members..there's real money involved. unless there's a free member hack.. bots: he doesnt have good rc..or ANY skill for that matter. none of the 3 were in highscores for ANY skill. mercients: dont know what you mean sorry macros: same as bots..
Newbie's selling lots of runes?
The mystery deepens. I asked the guy if he was a member. He said yes. I asked how he got so many runes, since he didnt have any decent skill. He logged out 5s later. Probably put me on Ignore. ...
