  1. Bump. I'll start adding to the drop log again.
  2. Nice clue! I'll add that to the front page. (Why do you carry 15 mil when you do treasure trails? :D )
  3. Definitely a good thing. No more 99 str and 10 hp pures.
  4. Thanks for your detailed explanations. I need to try this when I'm woodcutting. :)
  5. Well, should you prefer to use combat to get your clues, there are several other places besides minotaurs that work well. You could kill men in the house north of Edgeville bank, or attack the thugs in Edgeville dungeon's wilderness. If you factor in the cost of buying the cannon and cannonballs, that's quite an investment for many players, especially people who don't have much money to begin with or the high skills to earn some. Also, unlike thieving at the HAM, you're unlikely to recoup the cost of your cannonballs from the usual rewards found in a level 1 clue. Edit: Wearing a ring of wealth does not affect the probability of getting a clue. You're better off picking a ring with attack or defense bonuses.
  6. I play quite a bit of SC, so my bank is full of those non-stackable tools. -.- However, you could speed up your xp rate by buying yew logs and cutting them in unstrung bows using a clay knife. You get double the xp for that step, still string them with bowstrings bought on the GE, and make about 40gp (just off the top of my head, may need checking) after selling the finished bows. Granted, you get less of a profit than from simply stringing the bows, but it's worth considering if you have the extra SC points.
  7. Out of curiosity, why does it take you 10-15 minutes to finish a clue? My bank is currently cluttered with clay tools so I don't bother keeping emote items anymore. However, even factoring in those emote clues and trips to the GE, it usually takes me less than 5 minutes for me to complete a scroll.
  8. There are faster methods to get xp, but if you have lower thieving to begin with, you will level very quickly. ;)
  9. Thanks. Clue log has been updated with another 6 clues.
  10. Individually, of course not. But then again, what are the odds of you getting 3rd age from a level 3 anyways? Vanishingly small. : I'm not claiming that this guide is the best way to make money either. Rather, I'd like to change people's perception of level 1 clues as trash while helping them realize that there's profit, if you know the right method.
  11. Thanks for your comments! I do every clue I get, even level 1s, since they don't take that much time to complete. Although not every reward is going to be that good, over the long run, you'll be surprised at how much money you make. ;) Oh, and congrats on 99 firemaking! :D
  12. Thanks falcon. I ended up doing a major overhaul of this guide since so much had changed from when I first wrote it. Some of the language and formating could have been clearer too, so I hope version 2.0 is much easier on the eyes and brain. :D I'm going to be doing quite a few of these clues over the next week or so to finish putting up my new clue log. (Got fairly lucky for the first 4 clues or so, as you can see.)
  13. Thanks Zaaps! 1. I made a note of that under Inventory. Personally, I don't own penance gloves, but I do bring boots of lightness and a spottier cape for doing my clues with. 2. Good point. I'll add that ASAP. 3. After testing out the new drop rates, I'm thinking of revising my guide to emphasize thieving over attacking HAM warriors. I've been getting clues on my 3rd or 4th pickpocket, and it rarely takes me more than 3-4 minutes. I will add a note about the defender though.
  14. Well... considering that 99.9% of people aren't maxed combat, it's not feasible to limit yourself that far.
  15. You're welcome. The maze pattern to set up cades isn't very well known, but still very effective.
  16. I think that's because he's maxed in combat? ;) Nice vid. 9/10
  17. A few more points I remembered: [*:3pd53owq]In my experience grave rushes have limited effect on the round's outcome at best, and can be disastrous in a hotly-contested game at worst. The only situation where a team is strong enough to hold both graveyards and be control of the obelisk is if one side is so stacked that the round has already been won anyways. In any other case, launching a grave rush at the other team's graveyard only occupies players that could otherwise be battling for the obelisk or collecting soul fragments. You might even end up in a situation where you lose your original graveyard and are stuck trying to get bandages from your opponent's base when you die and respawn (all while facing attacks). Don't bother doing them. [*:3pd53owq]On a related note, Jagex updated Soul Wars so that you can no longer get bandages while under attack. It takes some practice, but in these situations, take and set up cades between you and your opponent. By the time they succeed in destroying it, enough time will have passed for you to fill your inventory. [*:3pd53owq]It is suggested that you bring armor and weapons for at least 2 combat types, in order to counter the large amount of protection prayers that you will encounter.
  18. Nice start on your guide. I just have a few points to add: [*:5jfdiu94]You can only carry one barricade at a time, unlike in Castle Wars. I personally think it's pointless to set up a wall of cades, since the effort it takes for the enemy to use an explosive pot is minimal compared to you running back to the supply area to get another cade. You're much better off trying to maximize the effect of just one. A popular method besides blocking the obelisk bridge involves setting up a cade on the innermost approach into a team's base. When people click to move on the minimap, the game automatically calculates the shortest path, which in this case leads them to be blocked. This tactic works especially well if you remain on the cade after you set it, and use your special attacks with smite on after you trap another player. [*:5jfdiu94]Another way to use cades is to set up a "maze" on the same approach mentioned above. Use this pattern, with each x symbolizing a cade: x x x x x x x x xBy using this staggered pattern, you force incoming opponents to click square-by-square in a very time consuming process. This method also doesn't block the passage completely, which means your team members can still pass through on their way to the obelisk (although it does take a bit more effort). Since it's located close by the supply area, it's fairly simple to replace cades as they are destroyed or damaged. [*:5jfdiu94]I've noticed that on moderately busy and busy worlds the winning team alternates every game or so. If you think about it, it makes sense (Lower leveled players tend to move into the winning team's waiting area while the round is still in progess). As soon as one game ends, your best bet is to immediately enter in the losing team's waiting area for the highest priority.
  19. Same for me. School and school related activities are eating a big chunk of my time. Still, I find myself gradually shifting my RS time toward training skills vs. combat and minigames. Hunter was shocked when I told him I was fishing a few days ago. :D
  20. 10/10 Useful, well-organized information that appeals across a wide audience. I wish I had your patience/time to write all these excellent guides. :P By the way, how much RS do you play nowadays?
  21. I've been only cutting evil trees in the past couple of weeks (gotta get that wc xp :D ) and getting lost playing endless minigames. Still, seeing this guide reminds me to turn in that 200 dust I have laying around in my bank... which might lead me to start starhunting again. ;)
  22. Interesting. The last time I touched smithing was when I got 60 to be able to forge all level 4 clay is Stealing Creation. It was horrendously boring, since I decided to save my gps and smelt iron bars. The only bright spot was that I made a mil in profit from the several thousand bars I did. However, if superheating addy doesn't lose me too much money, I can see myself doing this in the future. :)
