Yes, you did, because it's Jagex's game. Your monthly membership entitles you to play the game, but it doesn't buy you fractional ownership. ;-)

The part that I don't understand is why people feel the need to rush for a 99 in skill that they don't enjoy. It could be that they want the status of getting a 99 that most people do not have (whether due to the amount of work that needs to be done, or the expense). Or, perhaps it's so that they can "strike another 99" off the list as they go for a high skill total. There's a point in there where most people lose the fun aspect of RS and start playing the game only for the game's sake. Now, I'm not going to tell you how to play. However, I do not think that Jagex should be expected to offer these methods of training. PS: You can probably tell from my stat sig which skills I dislike training.

I'm more than happy to debate specifics with you, but slandering my post doesn't further the discussion in any way. Alright, so 300 vials may be a little low. Jagex should bump that number up a bit, but my point is that it's still reasonable to be expected to train herblore on a day-to-day basis instead of taking the easier but extremely expensive approach. In addition, I don't agree that most skills are a grindfest. Sure, there are methods out there for almost every skill where you can gain faster xp by repeating the same actions over and over again. And yes, if you have the cash, you can spend it on whatever you'd like. However, Jagex should not be "obligated" to provide this route for any skill, which I think some of the wealthier players expect.

What's wrong with 300 water-filled vials every few hours? Honestly, I don't think herblore is meant to be trained by grinding out levels. If you do some long term planning to farm your own herbs and make some potions every time you log on, it's perfectly possible to obtain 99 without losing 200 million. Personally, I don't mind seeing the players who believe that gold is everything having to put in some time and effort if they really want such a high herblore level.

D* hally not useless!
Tact replied to FellonyNoob's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
Spec is useful against monsters that take up more than 1 tile. Otherwise, it has a cripplingly slow attack rate. -
Food? Because without it you'd have to sit around waiting for your health to return. >_>

Should Jagex Make a Serious Effort to Rebalance the Combat System?
Tact replied to AlexRose's topic in General Discussion
It depends on who you ask. I'm sure a lot of pkers are quite happy with the current system. You get a lot of people who pot up and then click the spec bar twice, hoping that their powerful weapons will deal enough damage in a short period of time to KO the other player. It's not difficult to do, and they can expect to be reasonably rewarded in terms of drops. I agree with you in that defense have greater emphasis as a counterpoint to attack and strength. You shouldn't be able to deal the same amount of damage on a fully armored person as you can on someone who has nothing equipped. However, in my view, it's also important to not fall into a [bleep]-for-tat pattern, where ever more powerful weapons are followed by stronger and stronger armor. The last thing that RS combat needs right now is more ways to 1-hit. This is one of the main reasons I don't mind that the higher level potions cannot be used in PvP. There's no need for AGS, D claws, and D bow specs to hit higher than they already do, unless Jagex wants to completely remove the skill aspect from PvPing. (For the record, I don't PvP at all, but I do play many PvP minigames.) The combat triangle also needs to be rebalanced. At the moment, it's hard to deny that melee has a greater selection of equipment, as well as (generally) dealing more 1v1 damage. Magic's effectiveness suffers from the fact that hand weapons can easily be wielded in conjunction with dragonhide, while range is burdened with a lot of useless weapons that are rarely used (darts, javelins, longbows, etc). If you consider F2P combat, it's obvious that melee is an even greater advantage. While magic is capped at 16 damage, meleers can easily hit in the high 20s. Range is weak as well, since you the best equipment you can use is maple shortbow + addy arrows. Jagex could open up more crossbows and bolts, as well as possibly making blood spells + ensnare F2P. -

I went back over the quest walkthrough and dungeon maps, and it does appear that you don't need to start it to access the dungeon. :) Thanks for pointing that out. Also changed the recommended level 30 Combat to HP under Requirements as a point of clarification. -
The reasons they gave to justify awarding Obama the prize are all too vague. Beyond bringing "hope" and "change" to the forefront of Americans' vocabulary, he hasn't really done anything to earn this prestigious honor. I mean, Gandhi never got the Peace Prize, yet Obama bags one before his first term is halfway through?

More time to play. Also, a skillcape (preferably more than 1). Failing that, I love minigames. :) So an update releasing one of those would be nice.

Because there are no such things as SW clan chats that stack teams already. People want to be on the winning team, so there will always be on side that gets, as you put it, "screwed over." I agree with this to a certain extent. Combat should be about more than just a few clicks. But the problem is that Runescape has such a limited range of weapon and armor sets that the battles are essentially decided before it even begins. I don't like the idea of introducing untradeable armor which reduces damage to counterbalance the high level weapons already out there. All this would do is further a continued arms race where each weapon begets even more powerful armor, and vice versa. It's not that Runescape doesn't have a wide selection of weapons and armors already, but that most of them have little or no use in a serious combat situation. There's no depth in RS combat, and I think that this is one of the weakest aspects of an otherwise great game. There needs to be more factors in melee than just "strength" bonuses, "attack" bonuses, and "defense" bonuses. Likewise, the other 2 corners of the so-called combat triangle could use a similar overhaul. Let Jagex update the functionality of the underused items in range (javelins, darts, handcannon, longbows) and mage (lots of rarely used staffs and robes).
-
Personally, I'd like to see PvP elevated to a higher level than simply: 1. Pot up. 2. Unleash high powered specs for KO. 3. Collect drop. What Jagex really should be doing is to look into a way to update the combat system so that players aren't depending on high powered weapons to kill others in 1 or 2 hits. It really doesn't take much skill to click twice on the spec bar while using dragon claws or AGS. These new potions are only driving combat further down the road. Likewise, the extreme ranging potion makes it more possible to 1 hit someone with dark bow spec and void. Combat should take more thought. Not just a few clicks.

Labour Capes- new and edited-only exclusive f2p item
Tact replied to Miner_Guy's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Just make skillcapes f2p. It's not much effort on Jagex's part, and anyone who gets 99 in a skill should get some recognition for it. -
The ladders into the tunnels have been turned into ropes, which destroys their potential as safespots. You might still be able to range/mage over the cluster of rocks in the northeast corner room, but besides that, I think the only safespots are now in the outside corridors. Nice guide. After the crypt safespots were nerfed I started using black salamander, but adding in ancients. You ice blitz the melee brothers, step one tile to the side, and you're safe from their attacks while you fire away with your salamander diagonally. Just before the freezing spell runs out, hide behind some rubble or run to the other side of the sarcophagus until 3-4 seconds have passed. Then step out, cast blitz again and repeat. Using this method, I pray on Dharok and Karil. If I have any prayer left over, I use it on Ahrim. The rest of the brothers you can defeat with hardly any use of food (only if your spell splashes and you can't hide in time). Once you get it down, the only time you'll need much food or a prayer pot if you get Karil or Dharok in the tunnels. To avoid splashing too much, keep mage attack at +10 or higher. Also, since your spellbook is set on ancients, you'll need to bring house teletabs to recharge prayer, then portal to Canifis.

It used to be that as your carpet is about to land, the screen would switch to that picture of the nearby seashore. But it would reset on you again, instead of scrolling. All I know is that it's been there for a while...

Nice! The black armor is actually worth a bit due to people hunting tormented wraiths. -

You'd be surprised. I've gotten clues on the first pickpocket, but also had times when it's taken me 10 minutes (not often though). Let me know how your clues turn out! :) -

Congrats on your sara page! Feel free to post your clue log if you'd like. : -
From the title, I was under the impression that a member of female persuasion had authored this guide on farming. Opening it, I saw the avatar... oh, it's only Zaaps with another one of his guides. -.- At least it lives up to the second part of the title; it's certainly very well researched and I might use it if I ever around to training farming outside of tears. : 2/10 for the misleading title + 7/10 for the content = 9/10
