Maybe because its based on a book thats not actually that good in the first place and its badly casted. It's not that badly casted, I think. Okay, they used the standard and most well known french actors that have the same Hollywood status as their collegues, but atleast they chose French actors. Tom Hanks wasn't really casted anyway, he bought the rights to the book because he wanted to play Langdon, if I'm correct [edit] I am not correct, I was had wrong information[/edit]. As far as I'm concerend the only 'risk' factor amongst the actors would be Bettany as Silas, but he's proven to be a pretty decent actor in the past, and this is a role we've never seen him do before, so we'll give him a chance. I'm more worried about Howard directing the movie, as he is a typical American director that tries to avoid controversy as much as possible, which is pretty hard with a more 'controversial' book.

The Fountain V for Vendetta and some others.

Yea, they're going really slow here. But did you really have to open a topic for that? :P

No real-life pictures is something, I could understand, the reasons were reasonable. But this is just plain ridiculous, I'm sorry. Your need to 'protect' the users of this forum is going too far, the reasons for our 'protection' are getting more farfetched every day. This is removed because somebody might post a picture where you might see a paper where somebody might zoom in on and then that person might see where you might live. Doesn't that sound a tad weird? And, did it ever occur that there could be members that don't want all that protection, that they can think for theirselves? That people can decide by theirselves weither they want to post their pictures. Instead of banning it completely, a good guide where people can get good information on why not to post a picture would be better, after reading they can still decide if they want to post a picture of their room, pet, telephone or whatever.

Torn Curtain - Can't really say I liked it a lot. Basically due to the horrible chemistry between Newman and Andrews, there was nothing, it didn't feel natural at all. And Hitch completely fails to deliver suspense where it's needed in a few scenes. It's good that he succeeds in a few others scenes so it doesn't completely loses your interest. There's also some props to to the supporting cast which gave a way better preformance than Newman and Andrews. All in all I'd give it a 6.5.

A tournament team. I have noticed that tournaments are pretty popular around the forums, and they're aren't held on a regular base, and the moderators have better things to do than keeping tournaments all the time, it might be a good idea to introduce a tournament team on these forums. It will be a team that people can sign up for on volentary base, the purpose of this team will be taking care of tournaments and various other 'events' held on the music and movies forum. Atleast, that's the basic idea. What does everybody think of this, what could be a better way to work it out? Is this possible to realize?
-
Alright, decided to give the forum another boost, tournament threads generally do good. And since most of us are familliar with movies from the 80's I decided this would be a good tournament. The way we are going to do it. I'm planning to make more tournaments (not at the same time), so we are going to do this slightly faster than the previous tournaments we've held. Instead of a tournament that's open for a month or three (the greatest movie ever thread), we're going to wrap things up in a month or a bit longer; depending on the size of the tournament. First we'll be open for a nomination week. Everybody can nominate any movie they want. Doesn't matter if it's English, Rusian, Italian, German, French, Brazilian or whatever. To get in the tournament a movie needs to get two nominations, no exceptions. During the nominations I will keep a list with all the movies that still need 'support', so it's not to hard to find out which movies still need a vote to get in the tournament. So, you might wonder how we're going to do a tournament this fast. The voting will be going like the usual tournaments; round 1, round 2, round 3. etc. etc. till quarterfinal, half final and the final. But instead of one match a time we'll be doing all the matches at a time. So it will be looking like this. 1. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back - Raiders of the Lost Ark 2. Raging Bull - Ghostbusters 3. Blade Runner - The Thing etc. etc. The movie you think is better will be bolded, so it will be looking like this: 1. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back - Raiders of the Lost Ark 2. Raging Bull - Ghostbusters 3. Blade Runner - The Thing etc. etc.. Alright, let's get started then. You're allowed to nominate any movie released between 1980 and 1984. So if you got a movie that says 1985 according to IMDB it can't be nominated in this tournament. Therefore be sure to check IMDB for year of release and leave the year of release after the title of the movie you nominate, so I don't have to look up everything. You're also allowed to nominate as many movies as you like. And remember, only nominate movies you have seen, or planning to see soon. It's not cool to go of every year on IMDB and nominate all the movies that are there. To participate in this tournament you shall be posting in the normal font colour and normal font size. Otherwise your replies will be too hard to read and will be ignored. Let the nominating begin! Nominations can be done till sunday the 26th of february. RESULTS ROUND ONE! 1. Airplane (1980) 10 vs. The Fog (1980) 1 2. E.T. (1982) 12 vs. The Elephant Man (1980) 1 3. Scarface (1983) 12 vs. Paris, Texas (1984) 1 4. Or would they go for the movies that aimed for more than just entertainment. We will soon find out! Have fun!

Yea, well. I don't really care that much about Pink Floyd splitting up. They're from the past, I'm not going to 'mourn' about a bunch of 60 year olds splitting up; they don't have the future. I wasn't too fond about their work after The Wall anyway.
-
Oh, she probably knows, since it's two day old news. Besides, I don't think she still vissits the forum. :o
-
Old news maybe, or no news, I don't know. Just came along this. COLDPLAY are splitting up, they revealed last night. Source: Mirror.co.uk So, anybody has got more information about this? Or would it be really true that we won't hear much from the next couple of years and come back with a decent album that can top the first two, after their last piece of trash that they called an album. Or is this yet another not serious media 'joke' (read stunt) by Chris Martin?

X2 - In other words X-men 2. Pretty good sequel, has got the usual nice Marvel opening scene that we see in most of their movies. A lot of nice characters, not only the trics they can do, but also their relations to one another. Stuffed with action and of course the Dutch Famke Jansen. <3 Halle Berry on the other side was really horrible. :? Another thing I didn't really like was the too obvious Godindoctrination that they smacked in, and the few lines that promoted evolution on the end couldn't help that. Christianity is taking over Hollywood, again. All in all it was pretty nice and you can always make me happy with these type of movies after a hard day of work. 7/10
-
Yea, the plot is somewhat simillar, though everything is re-written by Oliver Stone and loaded with a more political element. So you got two different movies, but the '32 is the original. And the original '32 is good, goes down in the books as one of the best and most influencial gangster movies. It was one of the first along with public enemy. It's pretty nice and one of the last gangster movies before the official introduction of the hays code. You can pick it up for the price of a burger everywhere, try it! :) Don't look at the idiotic 'collectors' prices at Amazon BTW. You can pick up a perfectly legal non-bootleg version everywhere. I paid 5 euro's for mine at work.

Bill & Ted! <3 I got both on DVD, and I love them! :D

Ah, right I'm not really familliar with the work of the Clash, so I didn't know that. I do know the Clash is generally thought of as a punk band, and I don't know anything of punk music, hence me probably not recognizing their 'sound'.
-
We got a new CD in today, so of course we wanted to check this out since the cover art was promosing. The Dead 60's. Really cool band, kind of 'different' than what we (me and my collegue) are used to, had that typical 'indie' sound (from what I could make of it, I'm no genre expert) with a lot of reggae influence. I guess you could consider them indie. If you haven't heard from them it's worth to check their self titled album out.
-
I wonder if sie mods even check this forum, or that they lost hope as well.
-
It's okay honey. I forgive you for a kiss. ^.^
-
So the 1932 version of Scarface is on your list, not the '83 version?
-
I don't see how anybody could take a band with the name DYING FETUS, GORE LORD or BLOODGASM serious, I mean come on, that's just plain stupid. What do they sing about? Sex with a hayfork?
