  1. Why is it the best movie of all time? And what movies from the 10's, 20's, 30's ,40's, 50's and 60's have you seen so you can almost decide what the best movie ever made is?
  2. Why is that? I'm not a fan of the Lord of the Rings series, but I do dare to admitt that they are good movies, and that people consider them to be one of the better movies made.
  3. Yea, Snoop Dogg deff. I was thinking of Madonna as well, but I thought she was more from the earlier 80's.
  4. 50 years? A lot of bands from the past are still played nowadays, bands such as the beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, solo artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Johny Cash, The Beach Boys the list goes on and on. I think we can all agree that the pop scene nowadays isn't that great, thus I was wondering what bands from these days will be remembered like bands/solo artists from 40/50 years ago. Let's consider modern the past 15 years. I can't really think of many bands/ solo artists. At the moment all I can think of is Robbie Williams, Radiohead, Coldplay, Oasis (or is that older?), Eminem, Tupac, Dr. Dre and some other hip hop artists. What do you think? Maybe Jamie Cullum, with his nice 'new' crossover-jazz. And some other new artists, but that's a bit too early to say, I think. Also I think the Boybands will be remebered aswell.
  5. What's the VGA? Video Game Awards or something? Please provide us with some freaking info when you decide to make a topic!
  6. 29 August 1986. Exactly 20 years after the last Beatles concert Same birthday as Michael Jackson.
  7. As for why to remake it. The movie was orignally released in '33, there weren't many options for the graphic effects. Technology became a lot more advanced, so they remade the famous story to give it more glory. Of course they didn't have computer generated blabla (forgot the word >.>) that started in the late 80's, I think it was The Abyss by Carpenter who started it a bit. And now they can remake it to make it as beautiful as it is suposed to be. And you can trust Jackson to make something good out of it. It probably was the favourite story his parents used to read him when he was three or something. Atleast, that's what he'll probably say on the extras of the DVD. And of course the money. Atleast we'll be sure this movie will be on it's original location. And it's King Kong, not Godzilla.

    Emo

"What came first, the music or the misery? Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?"- Rob Gordon (High Fidelity) Since it seems that you know your stuff, atleast that is what you make us believe. Would you like to put up some "Emo" songs that are different then the songs we know?
  9. Group E and F seem to be hardest on first sight. Will reply better in this post tomorrow,
  10. Oi, that's a great movie. I really enjoyed that.

    Rob is Bob?

    That's correct. Holland.
  12. The whole sanitation thing (probably not the most infuential though). I've seen it in a movie (Donnie Darko of course), but it seems to be pretty logical that it is important and infuential.
  13. Ugh, I can't remember from what movie that tagline is. It's on the tip of my tongue, it's the type of thing you suddendly hear and you know were it's from but you can't remember where and it eats your brain, then you phone a friend to ask. But my friends don't know this stuff, so. Somebody help me out please? On topic: I don't really do that stuff.
  14. Don't be so melodramatic. When we are correcting the information you've given that shows we are interested in the topic. And we'd like to discuss it. And if the topic is already here, why not keep it open.
  15. Heh, I was thinking about that Romancing the Stone/Jewel of the Nile set, but didn't do it. I loved Romancing the Stone, but haven't seen the other one. Might come later though. :)
  16. I think Greenday would redeem theirselves if they came up with something like "Hooker with a Penis" (this is a song, so I avoided the censor) and continue the way they are doing now. But maybe it's too late for that.
  17. If How2PK had his way. Other movies would've been selected, but out of the movies in the competition: Round one. The Green Mile VS Monty Python & the Holy Grail LOTR 3 (ROTK) VS One Flew over the Cuckoo̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s Nest The Matrix VS Sin City A Clockwork Orange VS The Shawshank Redemption (yes, I know Shawshank is supposed to be my nr. 1) The Godfather VS Requiem For a Dream Schindler's List VS Team America Apocalypse Now VS Pulp Fiction Reservoir Dogs VS Fight Club Round two. Monty Python and the Holy Grail VS One Flew over the Cuckoo̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s Nest The Matrix VS A Clockwork Orange (Sorry Stanley) Requiem for a Dream VS Schindler̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s List (Sorry Steven) Apocalypse Now VS Reservoir Dogs (Damn hard, but sorry Quentin) Round three. One Flew over the Cuckoo̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s Nest VS The Matrix (Sorry Milos) Requiem for a Dream VS Apocalypse Now (Sorry Francis) Final. The Matrix VS Requiem for a Dream
  18. Round Up: Deposing 'The Usual Suspects' - Documentary about the Usual suspects with a lot of interviews with cast, director and other crew of the movie. It gave a pretty nice insight, educationel and fun at the same time. I really enjoyed it. Stephen Baldwin and Kevin Pollak were a bit annoying though. There was this awesome quote by Gabriel Byrne, I'll look it up at the DVD later so I can share it with you guys. The Untouchables: Re-Inventing the Genre - Among with the other featurettes on the collectors edition DVD. Also really informative about the gangster genre, set-up changes etc. I'm not a great fan of DePalma and his way of directing (it looks good, but a lot of it is stolen), so he annoyed me a bit during the featurette, but the Untouchables is a good movie and so were the extras I could see. A found links to the rest of the featurettes of The Untouchables: The Untouchables: Production Stories The Untouchables: The Classic The Untouchables: The Script, the Cast There was one more, which I can't find. :)
  19. Casino 2-disc digipack Mulholland Dr. Special Edition E.T. This was on december discount, was only 5 euro, I'll get the giftset later. That's it, I think. And if I win the E-bay auction I will get the rare and highly wanted Blade Runner CDA BOX, with poster, screenplay book, senitype and lobby cards. Buyer also gives extras such as the computer game, soundtrack, comic etc. :D

    Rob is Bob?

Weird stuff. I had a friend here in Holland who was named Rob, but we never called him Bob. And I've known plenty of Rick's aswell, but we never called them [bleep].
  21. I think it's better to do some research and find sites that suply good information before you start yelling " best power metal band ever!", and even quoting those things in your signature. Anyway, I'm not a powermetal man or something. But I think Dragonforce is a pretty good band. And for what I know they make powermetal. [edit]I must admitt I thought DDD was a good site as well. But this indeed is a little bit weird. Maybe their lists are done by users who don't know much or something.

    Rob is Bob?

Bill is a nickname for William? That's just plain weird. Just like Robert = Bob. There really isn't a reason for this?
  23. No, you don't need to be a pro graphic artist. But it takes a little bit more than fun to change the scene on a board like this. Everybody noticeses troughout life weither they have a talent for drawing or not. With regular drawing classes at school you will see if it goes easy and you make something really great, or it takes you a little bit more effort and make something great, or you try your best, and you can't make anything. It's not something everybody can do, and since this is media discussion I don't see why people who don't have the drawing talent or w/e can't take it on verbally with the artists.
  24. Not everybody has got the skill to make something. So some of us can't do much more than talk about it in hope for it to change.

    Rob is Bob?

I was watching the extras of the movie The Untouchables yesterday night. And there was a part about the casting of Robert deNiro for the role of Al Capone, and they originally casted Bob Hoskins. In the end they got everything right financially and DeNiro got the role. But during the interview with DePalma and other crew of the movie they named Robert deNiro Bob deNiro. Now you would think that they called him Bob because they orignally casted Bob Hoskins but in the end took DeNiro. But I have seen people who are named Rob (Futurama for example) name theirselves Bob. So...I was wondering: Why do people who are named Rob(ert) name theirselves Bob? Or why are they called Bob?
