  1. Ok, then explain to me merchanting if it's not buying something at a low price from someone who doesn't know prices well and selling it at a higher price to someone who doesn't know prices well. It's always fun to argue with merchants because they admit that they take advantage of people yet yell at you when you point it out. LOL
  2. What legitimate honest player really cares about the price of rares? I've been playing over 2 1/2 years, 121 combat, 1978 total level and how many rares do I own? 0. How many rares do I care about? 0. Rares are/were bought and sold by merchants that take advantage of other players who aren't familiar with prices or by scammers. I'm glad the price has dropped, maybe this will teach the scammers and merchs to actually play the game instead of taking advantage of those who aren't as familiar with prices as they are.
  3. Going by the original post, there really are no admirable skill capes. "All it takes is patience and a lot of clicking" - That describes the entire game. I have 99 Fletching, Cooking, Strength and a Quest Cape. I worked hard for all of them. I did not "buy levels" but I did trade my cooked for raws and my completed bows for supplies. I wouldn't say that getting 99 Strength was any tougher than getting 99 Fletching or Cooking though. All I did was clicked on monsters and food until my Strength was 99. There are very few levels you can't "buy" which include Strength, Attack, Defence, Hitpoints, Mining, Woodcutting and Hunter. Everything else is "buyable" via runes, arrows, ores, bars, gems, leathers/hides, etc. If I were to name a least admiriable skill cape based on the starting post of this thread I'd say it was Prayer. I can buy 42k - 47k Dragon bones and get 99 Prayer in a few days, but I'd rather earn my levels than buy them.
  4. Obviously written by a child with no clue what the working world is like. No practical applications for typing? This kid thinks that only secretaries have to type on a daily basis? How about computer programmers, network administrators, supervisors of any kind, engineers, researchers, chemists. I'd be hard pressed to find a job that doesn't require typing skills now. Even the garbage man uses a computer back at the office to plan routes and special pickups.
  5. This is true, but it has to be 10 irrelevant or nonsense posts in a 60 second period or you could get in trouble for abusing the reporting system.
  6. When I was something like combat 30 I was mining rune essence with my Mithril Pick. I left to go bank, went back to Aubury and teleported back to the rune essence. To my suprise I appeared just a few squares from a Rune Pick Head. I was so excited. I spent weeks waiting for my mith pick head to fly off so I could replace it with the rune one. I still have that rune pick...
  7. LOL, If you go back and read most of the Times articles written by "The Editor" you will see that 99.9% of them are that way. I think "The Editor" has Adult AD/HD.
  8. My top 2 most annoying quests were: Mournings End Part 2 - The puzzle wasn't really difficult, just annoying. Devious Minds - 65 smithing and lose a ess pouch for that? Come on. And what ever happened to that story, it's been hanging for how long now?
  9. Wow, Tip.It Times is really going down the hole.... Last week it was a loon raving about all of the noobs being protected and how ugly a ditch is and this week it's an article about emergant gameplay that's for some reason titled to make you think it's about Wilderness ethics. Looks like it's time to get some more editors for Tip.It Times...
  10. And again, you forget what it's like to be low level. Since a few of my cousin's friends have recently started playing Runescape I have re-learned that, for a level 20-40 character losing full addy, or even full mith, can be devistating, and take ages for them to replace.
  11. Wow "The Editor" has really gone off his rocker this time. "The Ditch of Stupidity" should have been there from day 1. Don't forget, this game is targeted at children. Children like to explore. Also, mean children like to trick the other children into doing something they wouldn't normally do. This new wilderness is a great asset to new and inexperienced players who are most frequently the victims of lurers and scammers. I say Bravo Jagex, Job Well Done! To "The Editor" I say, we were all newbies once, if you had started during Runescape 2 at a younger age and had no guidance you may very well have been one of those unfortunate enough to be lured into the wilderness or inadvertantly stumble in.
  12. This is a topic that we have discussed several times in our clan. If you ran Runescape what would you change. Since we are a Non-PK / Skiller clan the obvious majority vote is to get rid of the Wilderness. But how would you do level 3 clues if there were no wilderness, they'd be just like level 2 clues? No, Level 3 clues have more difficult trails as well as Sara and Zammy Wizards to fight at every coordinate. The wilderness adds a little to the difficult of the clue, so I would expect the better rewards to be more rare if there were no wilderness. We aren't saying completely remove the Wild from the game, but offer worlds where there is no Wild at all. Many games offer PVP worlds as well as Non-PVP worlds. The second choice is obviously all of the rule breakers. Macroers are ruining the money making skills for everyone in the game and Scammers are taking your money or items which are becoming harder to get because it's getting harder to make a good amount of money.
  13. I've seen lots of obvious "autoers" in the game. However, I have seen even more characters accused of autoing who I'm pretty sure aren't autoers - they are 6 - 8 year olds who can't read or type well enough to communicate. Next time you see a character doing repetitive but somewhat random things, but who says nothing and won't respond to questions, ask yourself whether you are dealing with an auto program or a 6 - 8 year old. Either way the account should be banned...Check the age requirement for the game.
  14. Ummm, you've never been a Dungeon/Game Master have you? The whole point of being the D/GM is to CONTROL EVERYTHING. Yes, you provide the illusion that the player has control, but you regain control the entire time. Maybe Jagex's player illusion is slipping...Then again, maybe we just have to many experieced Lurers, Scammers and Hackers in Runescape for Jagex to allow us NOT to be babied. It's all about the community, when the loudest part of the "community" in runescape is complaing about the Lurers, Scammers and Hackers then Jagex has to respond to that.
  15. In my OPINION PK'ing in any way is not acceptible and Luring is the lowest of the low. Why do I think PK'ing is not acceptible? No I didn't get pk'ed and lose a ton of money or anything, I always avoid the wildy unless getting a god staff or doing a level 3 clue. The reason I think it is wrong is because the laws of our real life society say it's wrong. Here's an example: I have bigger muscles than you so give me your wallet right now. I know, "It's a game, it's not real life". However people, especially kids at the impressionable age that many Runescape Players are, imitate what they see on a day to day basis. That's my OPINION on PK'ing and Luring, take it or leave it, it's just an OPINION
  16. In regards to the DYK about Tears of Guthix... It only tells you how many days, when it gets down to that day it doesn't give you hours:minutes, it just says later... I made a suggestion in the Runescape forums and was flamed by a few people so I let it drop, but it would be very helpful to know that later = 6 hours and 15 minutes....
  17. Umm, you didn't read what you were being told during the quest did you? The two brothers were fighting over what they'd get from their father's treasury. When asked who won the one brother said he had won. The other brother argued, then they continued shouting "Jah, tis so" and "Nay, it is not"
  18. choc milk is for mogres mini quest i think. scrambled eggsis on the list its a potato topping (check vegetables) Before the Mogres Mini Quest the Hangover Cure was used in one of the Plague City quests.
  19. There may be some repeats here, but I didn't feel like reading 19 pages of this stuff when most of it is pet peeves and not actually Little Known Runescape Facts: All items of a type always point the same direction when they are on the ground, regardless of where they came from. Example: Arrows always point North while on the ground, Battlestaffs always lay with the orb pointing South East, etc. We have a "Backpack" icon in our menu system but none of the characters are actually wearing backpacks (Ava's Accumulator and Breathing Aparatus aren't backpacks). When using a members weapon on the free world you always kick when attacking. The Enchant Crossbow Bolt spell is always highlighted, even if you don't have the runes to cast any of the Enchant Crossbow Bolt spells. The Enchant Crossbow Bolt Spells under the main button are all always highlighted also, only the rune numbers change color (from red to green). Your run energy refill rate is the same wether you are on f2p or p2p even though Agility is a p2p only skill. Some Quests in your Quest List show you the quest reward after you have completed them and some do not. Of those that list the quest reward only Shield of Arrav lists the reward before Quest Complete and in the same color as Quest Complete. Animal Magnetism and Contact! list the Quest Reward details, but not the number of Quest Points gained from the Quest. The Quest Complete text listed in some quest logs is bright red and in others it's dark red.
  20. To bad a majority of the kids playing this game will never finish reading the article. Even if they do I think it would be safe to say they'd just blow the article off as sappy dribble from an adult and continue their "noob bashing" and scamming.
  21. I have tried RuneHQ's online world switcher, which works well but the layout is awkward, but none of the others. Why? For one, I use Linux and I've never found a client for anything but Winblows and secondly because I don't really trust them. With RuneHQ's online version I can view the page source and see that there is nothing stealing my password...on the others I can't.
  22. Have you ever thought about the policy on how and when street prices would be updated? I think Kiara_Kat took this into consideration when she said it would be too hard to keep something like that updated. Leave her and the entirety of Tip.It's Crew alone, gildogg, and shame on you. Their hands are full enough as it is. :shame: ~Mr. Devnull LOL, shame on me for trying to spur them forward? Shame on me for volunteering to help make their items database at least half as useful as every other fan site's items database? Shame on me for actually looking at the items database and realizing that they released an incomplete feature, with inaccurate data, inaccurate naming schemes and a broken search feature? Shame on me indeed.
  23. Ok, I know Kira_Kat, you've said it twice, no street prices. But please, please stop coping out on it and just say you guys don't want to have street prices. A team of 2-5 people could easily keep street prices up to date. Yes, there are 5,000 items in the database, but how often do prices change on stuff like buckets, pots (clay), bones (regular), knife, etc. I feel confident saying that more than half of those items would be covered by giving a price range of 10% - 15% either side of the current price or the price simply is to low to justify a street price listing. Example: Big Bones sell for 300 - 400 each on the forums. So put the "street price" at 300 - 400. If you don't want to do it, don't do it, but be honest about it instead of crying that it would be to hard to do when it really won't be. And yes, I'll volunteer to help if you decide to stop coping out on street prices.
  24. No offence, but it sounds like a cop out. If you won't have street prices I will stick to runehq's Item's Database. It may be a bit out dated, but at least it gives you a ball park figure. They also have a disclaimer that the street prices can and will vary.
