  1. Ooooh forgot about this thread again :P Got GCSE's now so not on members, however I will give this guide a nice little makeover when they are done and I am member again. So for now here's some replys, updates in a month and a half. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1) Kinslayer777 --- Any difference between Zogres and Skorge? And anyway to avoid getting bashed by the army of them everytime you get your loot? I'm finding myself at half inventory surrounded by 11. They dont hurt, but the disease is annoying :P. Tips or tricks :P? A) No difference, except ones a skeleton, ones a zombie. And yes if your over 88 combat you should easily be able to collect your loot with no problems - however any skogres/zogres you awake by burying bones will be automatically aggresive and will give you a bashing. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2) jondea0 --- i would say good guide and ive used this place before so heres some tips: -hallies are ok but bring armour and plenty of balms. d hally specs work good too -crumble undead! i think this work but when i went to check it out i had no chaoses -erm also if you have not put it in you can get like bronze iron or leather items from the coffins A) I really don't advise hallying, mellee is to slow, britals much mor effective. Curmble undead is on my list of things to try, will give it a go. I will make a proper list of everything I have got from the coffins also, which includes leather bronze and iron. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 3) luker2d2 --- demonicpain wrote: I didn't find them very rare at all. I have 27 fayrg, 23 raryg and 6 ourg bones in 2 hours... that dosent stop them from being rare. does it? A) I never said they wern't rare my friend, I simply said I didn't find them rare, it is just completely random. Simply stating that I got a nice amount in the time so it is possible to get a fair amount. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 4) In case this might help at all, I used 1700 iron brutal arrows, which got my ranged to 68 (almost 69) from 67, and my prayer to 57 (almost 58) from 56, which I think is pretty good. You might want to put something in the guide about the amount of xp gained. A) Thats a nice idea, I will go about making a table for how many you need to kill/bury for each level from 60-99. Going to be a chore lol. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5) Lemurian --- I've also found a great safespot! In the outer northeast corner, past a Skogre and a Zogre (I call him Urg), there are two coffins. Run past Urg and the Skogre and pass the two coffins. Because of some nifty glitch, Urg can't pass! Range him from behind the coffins and one step forward (not more, he can attack you then) and you won't suffer a scratch. Another one northwest of there, through the small passage. The Skogre there can't enter the passage, so you're in another great safespot. A) I am going to get a nice little picture together of all the safespots without having to descend down the stairs, thanks for the info. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 6) tomato72 --- A few notes: I'm pretty sure that the ranging guild sells brutals at 0 in stock. I'm guessing that brutals are the only way of actually getting deacent hits against them? A) Yes the ranging guild sells with a stock of 0, but seems as nobody makes them, and those who do use them, nobody ever sells them there so you have more chance of sprouting an extra pair of arms that are perfectly tuned to make brutal arrows than finding brutals at the ranging guild :P Also, yes, brutals are the only arrows/weapons that do significant damage so that they are wirth the time doing. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 7) pantim --- Also - These monsters only drop 2 things, and it is every kill. They are skogre/zogre bones (22.5 exp each) and an ogre coffin key - Not true, bones are every drop, but NOT keys. A) I am 100% sure that the keys are dropped 100% of the time. Thats from killing a thousand or so, and on the tip.it bestiary. What made you think they didn't? ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 8) mario_tpop --- might want to add that with 71 hunter and boxed imps they could bank the special bones for you, meaning you would virtually never have to leave (except to stock up on boxed imps and deposit non bone items) this would prevent temptation to bury them on site and keep going aswell. A) Ah something to add in later on possibly. However to collect a nice number of keys and rewards imp boxes would probably take up to much space. Still worth trying! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 9) Piman --- does anyone know if the salve amulet/salve amulet (e) works on these guys?? A) No, but thats something I am sure as hell gunna try! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 10) JoeDaStudd --- demonicpain if you edit tip.it's zogre tomb map (link here) you could show the safespots. It would look nice in the guide. A) That is a very nice idea, however I find the bit above the dungeon is the safest and most conveiniant place. I suppose I could go down and try then label it up. Thanks! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 11) Myweponsg00d --- Time to test the new ruby bracelet here... A) It most certainly is! When i'm a member again that is! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If people do actually go down here, I would love to hear how many bones you get, arrows used, levels gained and anything like that! It's nice to hear!
  2. Right, if you stand where I am on the photo by the staircase, just before I start talking about the bones, probably the best spot. And if you use a relicyms balm on the ogre trader he will use it to make a stock of 100 for you :) I'm sure that was in there somewhere, ah well :D
  3. the only way to make them really is buy the feathers and nails for the amout you want. Than take a load of money to the trader + a knife and buy then cut the logs to shafts, hopping worlds when needed. I will add that in if it is unclear, thanks for pointing it out :) Aha something to do! I will have to grab hold of one of the new bows and go find out, thanks
  4. 66-70 there? No problem, prob get you a few prayer levels as while your at it to. And a few clues... Shouldn't take to many arrows either, I think 3k would be fine. If you do decide to do it please post back when your done saying how many you used :)
  5. Thanks nicrune for the nice little comment, a bit of humour makes some things more readable I find :D Kinslayer, 27 pots...HANDMADE?! #-o Oh dear I bet that was a bag of laughs  How many quests have you got left to do? EDIT: YAY 1k views :)
  6. Going to update some of the pics tomorrow, but thats me done for the night.
  7. Aha finally something to do :D Right here we go: 1) Is the damage on steel brutals high enough to be worth the effort of making them, in comparison to iron? Not really no. Looking at your level I think iron would be best suited for training, you could even do it using bronze but iron would make it faster. If you want to make a handful of steels and find out go ahead, but I would say stick with iron. 2)How are they for range training? For range training they are in my opinion THE best monsters to kill. The low level means you hit them often and the 72 hitpoints gives almost 300exp per kill. You will be able to fly through levels here. Also, the prayer experience is also some of the best out there, as the bones dropped give 22.5exp (50% more than bigbones) and if you read the statistics above on the reward bones you will see it is well worth it. this I would say is the combat equivalent of fishing and cooking, as the range&prayer experience is immense. EDIT: Also, if you make yourself 1-2k fo the arrows you should spend many a happy hour there as they act the same as normal arrows in the sense of hwo many you get back. 3) Can bones and keys be telegrabbed? Everything can be telegrabbed, however I would not advise having to spend 600gp's worth of laws per kill. If you bring 3 or 4 relicyms balms you could still run out and grab them as you don't get diseased everytime they hit you. Best way is trial and error. Make a few hundred and go see how often you get diseased and get the right amount of balms.
  8. Just did THE lamest clue ever :( AND to top it all off 24 hours of 50+ looks an no replies except for me  Somebody say something about my guide...please  I have cookies...
  9. Have anything you want me to add or improve please post :)
  10. Right gone through it, don't think theres much more to add. Sorry about the massive delay, I forgot  ~Dem0nic
  11. Ok, having read the Tip.It times since the first release through the controversy up untill now I have never actually wondered over the identity of the editor. I have used Tip.It as my faithful sidekick for over a year, read the forums daily but I do not post much...but for this I will make an exception :D To me it is obvious that the Editor is somebody. This somebody is very good at journalism, maths and english. Said somebody obviously wishes to remain anonymous for their own reasons be it spam safety or fear of the controversy coming again. This somebody has picked up on the growing suspicion and debate on their identity and decided to take a hot topic, put it in a microwave, then a blender, then left it out to dry by publishing this brand spanking new article (which is up to the excellent like the others). They are toying and messing with us all, they are enjoying the confusion they create as people try to piece bits togather, adding 2 + 2 and getting the answer to be the square root of the equation Y=MX+C and I love it! It shows to me the passion and dedication of the readers and the somebody who makes it all happen. Now in no way at all am I saying I understand it but the complete opposite. I have no idea who it is was wasn't could be and might be and thats just the way I like it. A little mystery never hurt anyone, except maybe Dora the Explorer...shes not all there... ANYHOW, I think this can all be solved by an old saying: Red sky in the warning, shepards warning. It is obvious to me that this refers to the editor. The red sky is the somebody with a flamethrower setting our souls on fire with the burning desire to know, have facts and be all powerful. However the somebody is warning us as fire is hot, hot hurts, you don't want to get hurt as you realise the editor is secretly the Editor is secretly the Easter bunny who is your best friends girlfriend dressed up in a cute fluffy costume, and that your friend won't want you to know - The End...(yeah that makes more sense to me than the article did...yeah just don't ask, please...I knew there was a reason I didn't post...as I just keep going on...and on...) EDIT: Spelling + punctuation
  12. Very helpful! Time to steal my sister's wireless keyboard and go for a wander, lol :P
  13. Hey, seeing as you posted on mine I guess its fair to post on yours :P And as I guessed, excellant guide! Never thought of using cakes :wall: This has made me even more determined to get the last 100 tickets I need for 50 agility, so I can get the stethoscope, so I can get 53 thieving, so I can do desert treasure! You've startd off a chain reaction!
  14. Right, better go about giving it a makeover then. It was after all just the basics with room for improvement, so thank you everyone that have postd suggestions, they will be addd shortly :D
  15. Well a few months ago when I first started killing them I was 99.99% confident they wern't. So i'm guessing it was a hidden update sometime ago if they are now. Or maybe I got it wrong, but its something I'm going to go and check after this barrows trip. P.S - Reading this nearly killed me, hitting dharok with staff isn't very effective :P Edit: And as for the POH alter, I am an anti-house person, but I'm sure peole will be aware they can use it to. I only used ecto as an example because it was the best way of showing how good the exp is, because it is the highest amount of exp available :P And as Tesco would say, every little helps! Edit2: Yep your right, they are infact tradeable! However I havn't seen a seller of them so its still probably best making them. SO either this was a hidden update that sneaked up on me, or I just got it wrong Bet its the second one :P
  16. Oh no no no no!!!! Don't make them! What you do is use one with the ogre that sells the achey logs, after that he mass produces them and has a 100 stock in the shop for about 200gp I believe. Guess I should add that :P
  17. It was, but it was getting very low and I had nothing to reply to so I did what I do on rs forums, but it seems I need a new spam/bump tactic here :P
  18. Nice guide. But I don't think I saw the dragon skirt under drops...that gets 800k and is more than the d-med :D
  19. I didn't find them very rare at all. I have 27 fayrg, 23 raryg and 6 ourg bones in 2 hours...
  20. This is one of the most overlooked and least known ways of training range, and the rewards, if your after prayer exp, are amazing! OK first of all you need to complete the Zogre Flesh Eater quest, which is easy enough. If you have not yet completed it heres the link to Tip.It's handy dandy quest guide itself http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2quest_id=100 Next you need to make yourself a Compsite ogre bow. To get one have some wolf bones (wolves can be found just south of castle wars, canifis or white wolf mountain) and an achey log (look below on where to find one of these) in your inventory, and cut the log into a bow. Use it with a bow string and there you have it. NOTE: Bows are tradeable, however the time it would take you to buy one you could have made a few hundred yourself and developed a cure for the common cold. Once you have your bow you need something to shoot with it. Right, if your looking to buy some of the arrows, your probably going to be there for a while, as I have never seen a seller of them...ever...The ogre Uglug Nar and the range shop in catherby have them, but only stock 0, so it looks like your going to have to make them *GASP* BUT do not fear! The new construction skill has made this much much easier, as people now have a nice little stock of...nails! To make these brutal arrows, you need: -Nails instead of arrowheads, so buy bronze or iron from the construction marketplace for minimal prices. -Feathers are plain and simple, fletching forum get a load (6-8gpea is the norm nowadays) -Achey shafts. There are 2 ways of getting these, either buy the logs from the ogre trader who is just south of Castle Wars, where you start the Zogre flesh eater quest, he has a stock of 100, so buy, cut, then swap worlds and buy again until you have enough shafts. Alternativly you can cut some trees in the swamp...One thing to note is that the amount of shafts you get per log is random, from 1-6. -Hammer to force the nails in Now that you have everything to make brutal arrows just put them together as usual. One more thing to note, each arrow takes 1 shaft, 1 nail and 4 feathers. So for 1k iron brutals you need: 1k iron nails, 1k achey shafts, 4k feather. Not to hard now, is it :P The brutal arrows can only be used with a compsite ogre bow, and the compsite ogre bow can only be used with brutal arrows. It isn't slow and hits about 3 damage more than the normal arrows of that type. Use your best range armour and whatever else you like, but ONLY the compsite ogre bow will do significant damage, so no melee or mage, as this is a complete waste of time and will take minutes to kill one, plus you run the risk of getting diseased! A ring of wealth also has no effect. If you would like to try melee or mage by my guest, I would recommend however that you paint a wall while your at it and watch it dry(always have some paint left over incase one coat isn't enough) Now you need something to kill. If you head east of where you bought the logs you will come across a tomb with skogres + zogres. At the end there will be a set of stairs leading down into the heart of the tomb. However you don't need to go down there, as just by the stairs are 2-3 enemys ready to be killed. I counted about 10 safe spots just in that one bit of screen. Now for a bit on the monsters. They are lvl 44, but have a massive 72 hp! Thats a simple 288 exp per kill, and you can pick up the brutals. They are not aggresive as long as your combat level is 89, so lower levels will always need a spare relicyms blam just incase. They will never ever hit you damage, but if by some mistake they do hit you there is a small chance you could get diseased, which systematically lowers a random stat (just like poison lowers your health), starting at 10. So to be on the safe side take 3 relicyms balm with you, 3 doses will fully cure you of the disease. To save time making the relicyms balm potion (which is very tedious due to the two herbs snake weed & rogues purse not being readily available), simply use a relicyms balm on Uglug Nar, the trader, and he will use his secret army of ogre factory workers to mass produce them and have a 100 stock in his store! Simple! These monsters only drop 2 things, and it is every kill. They are skogre/zogre bones (22.5 exp each) and an ogre coffin key . Once you have a full invntory of coffin keys its time to reap the benefits (that is if the better than big bone exp + easy range exp wasn't good enough). You will see there are loads of coffins around you, click the coffin and you will use 1 key to open it. You can use any coffin you like, they all have exactly the same everything. What you get from this is random, and varies from nothing, skogre/zogre bones, low level daggers + pickaxes, tinderboxes and level 1 clues and a load of other junk for your enjoyment (I got a nice little collection of 500 black nails \ ) However, the main thing you want are the 3 unique bones only obtainable from the coffins. They are: Fayrg - 84 exp each - 336 exp at ecto Raurg - 96 exp each - 384 exp at ecto Ourg - 140 exp each - 560 exp at ecto And if like me, your to lazy to go collect the slime, grind the bones blah blah zZzZzZzZzZzZ...huh...oh yeah, if your lazy like me why not use POH to your advantage! With a guilded alter and 2 burners lit you get 3 and a half times more exp, so not as much as ecto, but much much faster! For more information on the the ectofunctus and guilded alter, please refer to the prayer guide on the tip it home page. Fayrg - 294 exp at alter Raurg - 336 exp at alter Ourg - 490exp at alter Now compare them to dragon bones: Dragon - 72 exp each - 252 - 288 exp at ecto This is obviously an amazing way to get prayer experience, ranged experience and if you don't want to ecto the bones, they sell for a very tidy price. The skogre bones will also add up after a while ;) *** SUICIDE WATCH *** SEVERE HEALTH WARNING: Picklocking ogre coffins may make many of you resort to severe bodily harm and the insertion of ones fist/foot/head/hammer into your screen with great force - I recommend you go to ardougne and try some cake, its lovely! Your sanity is not worth a bone! :wall: :wall: :wall: END OF MESSGE______ If you have already been down there, you may have noticed another option, picklock. This gives the same rewards as using keys, but is a lot harder and risky than obtaining a key. To do this simply right click and choose picklock coffin. Now the chances are that you will fumble with the lock and your thieving level will lower, or you will release a gas spore and become diseased. Thats all there is to it to be honest, its a long, tedious, level lowering, gas inhaling, mind numbingly lame way of getting the bones. And if your doing it for training I would advise you invest in a brain cell, as the other one seems to be lonely : NOTE: Burying skogre or zogre bones can sometimes spawn a skogre within a few squares of you, so when burying make sure you have your back to a wall in a safe spot :) ____________________________________________________ I have never written a guide of any kind before, so forgive me if this is a bit dodgy... If you have any suggestions on layout, wording, pictures, information you wish me to add I will happily oblige! Thanks for readin my guide! If you would please take a bit more time to post a comment, I will take some time to reply back :)
