  1. They can't and shouldn't and I will tell you why -- because if they do this, then Runescape becomes a gambling site -- with all the negative intonations that are included therewith. It's more of a tax on stupid people, but yeah ...
  2. I wouldn't mind a new Xbox. I would -- I've already got kids yelling at the TV in one room. I don't need another ... <_< That's why my kids have their TV/play room in the basement. :^_^: Mine do too -- but twin 16 year olds tend to be very loud at the best of times ...
  3. Given the proliferation of bots throughout the game over the last year, it's not overly surprising that so many of the online "players" at any given time were mostly bots. I think there's a lot of people who left because of bots who are simply waiting for a bit to see how effective this initiative will be over time and, if it is (and I certainly hope it will be), eventually some of those who left will begin to filter back. Word of the success will spread and will help bring in new players. As the old saying goes, "this is going to get worse before it gets better". We've been through the worse, now things will start to get better. Oh for sure about that -- and though I always thought that the botting problem was "bad", I never really expected the numbers to be THIS bad ... Which, really, is "good" -- because it just shows how effective Clusterflutterer (Phase 1) is right now, and how serious Jagex appears to be about fixing the botting problem. It certainly appears to be a very good start in any event. That said -- it looks as though the legit players have got their game back, and there's plenty of room to welcome in all sorts of new legit players who want to play. Frankly -- in stripping down the player base, I am rather hopeful that we might see a return to the community that there once was: the smaller, more intimate group of friendly people that used to "dominate" the landscape of the game ...
  4. Wow 40 players. That's reminscent of the early days of RSC when you could wander the entire world and never see another player on-line ...
  5. Well -- I will admit it that I was WRONG ... I haven't read back over the last 10 pages or so yet, but it appears that they've either rolled back or banned some players, which has resulted in some change in rankings for my own stats -- most notably my fishing rank which jumped over 100 spots which, at my level, is saying something. I was also impressed at the total lack of bots at the botting hotspots: Aubury's, Sorceress's Garden, Nature Altar ... THOSE places were completely empty on NUMEROUS worlds. A most impressive achievement. I am most pleased! What troubles me though is at those times when I was on-line last night, there were less than 60k total people on-line, when usual numbers were at least 2½ times that for that same time period (150k).

  7. That's because the people on here have the common sense to grasp that it will be a day at the minimum before anyone can say anything of the sort... Not saying you don't have common sense, just that's why you're not getting the instant gratification you're seeking so desperately. Well - if I didn't know any better, I'd say that I was just insulted. :shame: ... and I think my point is valid. So far, I've seen nothing to indicate that bots aren't working. And I have seen NO evidence whatsoever that any accounts have been banned. And considering the "hype" surrounding a "BOT NUKE" scenario, one would think that such indications would be broad-based and instantaneous. That is, you know, one of the principals of a "nuke". This seems more like a "bot war on terror", that's going to dredge on for years and years ... I'd say that Kimberly has a point. You're actually making soundbites now and making huge assumptions. Be patient, and we'll come to a consensus once all of the hype has died down. Right -- I really being told to "know my place" -- got it. Mods and Admins are about to flood the thread with pro-Jagex nonsense. Thanks! So much for any real debate on the issue. Is it okay to come back later and say I told you so?

  9. Checked out dragons between classes. There are hordes of people in d shirts, granite platebodies, whips, and etc. But I think that might be due to this newfangled 3x slayer EXP thing that's going on. Well now THAT's encouraging ...
  10. Yep. No bots. How about you look for yourself? Because I have this thing called a "job", and they won't let me play Runescape at it ...
  11. Yeah so go figure ...
  12. Thus's point is exactly that -- if you're not going to punish the people for botting, then why stop them? In effect, all they've done is legitimized the botting practices of the past by allowing those players to keep whatever achievements and wealth they've obtained through cheating and it encourages them and other people to employ the next generation of bots in the future ... ... and are the bots actually stopped? I haven't seen any reports on here yet that indicate they have been. Has anyone checked out the Sorceress's Garden? Are the runecrafting bots gone from Castle Wars and the Nature Rune Altar? Is Aubury's Rune shop less busy? Has anyone been to Green Dragons? Red Dragons? ANY dragons? Are there still marauding herds of ill-equipped people, wearing d skits and granite platebodies swarming every Black Demon in Taverly?
  13. Jagex never said there would be 1.5M bans going along with this. They said that they had recently banned 1.5M bots. All this does is prevent bots from continuing to bot. Doesn't ban them. Then every bot they've "banned" must've been an F2P noob account. That is, if they actually banned any accounts for botting. What about the high level botted accounts in P2P? They're not going to ban them? Well, they released the program that stops bots from working as an update. Most bots are usually down after an update anyways, so naturally there aren't going to be any on for them to ban. And really, most of the ex-bots probably won't be banned, because if the botting program doesn't work, they're not going to log on. So unless some moron tries to use his old, broken bot, then you aren't going to go up in ranks without gaining XP due to this. Just for the sake of asking then what is, essentially, a stupid question: why impose anti-botting measures if you're not going to permanently ban the bots? Keep the botters playing. If you had an account that was botted to say 2300 total you'd probably keep playing afterwards. If that account was perm banned and you had to start over from scratch, you'd most likely quit. This way Jagex keeps the old botters, but forces them to play legitly. Only ones that won't come back would be the massive volumes of goldfarmers. They may come back in smaller numbers, but since they have to be manually controlled, far less can be run at once. ... and this makes it "fairer" how?

  15. Judging from what I see in the high-scores (I kept a list of accounts that I suspected were bots) -- they have not yet banned any P2P accounts ...

  17. Well just checked my stats in the hiscores and ...
  18. Why do I see an image of the Joker saying "... and here ... we ... go ..."?
  19. Well -- I redeemed a 90-day card this past weekend and got sweet [bleep] all ... <_<
  20. Well I am at work today (as per usual) so I am not able to jump right in and see what happens when the nuke goes off. I do intend to attempt to get as much time on the 3x slayer experience as possible this evening. In the meantime, I am most anxious to see this bot-nuke go off -- and I am equally as anxious about the possibilities of seeing the net results thereof, namely the number of "bannings" and other effects ...
  21. Apparently too -- you need a specifically "green" card ... <.<
  22. At 62 magic and 64 mining, you wouldn't need to do much to raise your ranks ... The point is that he did not gain any experience in those stats of his own. By maintaining his stats with 0XP gains, he still went up the few hundred thousand ranks - which imply that ranks above him were removed/reduced. You didn't check his links, did you girlfriend?
  23. At 62 magic and 64 mining, you wouldn't need to do much to raise your ranks ...
  24. Thing is Jagex has indicated that they're going to "TARGET" 98% of the bots and that they have "detected and banned over 1.5 million botting and gold-farming accounts" ... Frankly I have not seen any reduction in botting yet and it's been discussed here that the alleged 1.5 million +/- accounts in question have been merely "tagged" for banning once "Clusterflutterer" comes into effect. I worry that I may be "reading into this" more than actually is being said here. On the face of it, it appears that a very grand promise is being made, but it's been worded in some double-speak that makes it possible for Jagex to weasel out of these broad claims. ... and yes, I know that they cannot offer solid guarantees ... I mean, really, nothing's 100%, right? I just have to wonder if they actually genuinely honest-togoodnessly mean what appears to be said here: i.e. that, if they're going to "target" 98% of the bots and BAN those 1.5 million accounts or whether they're going to [kitty]foot around like they usually do, not actually eliminate anything whatsoever, let a percentage of the bots continue unabated, and simply rollback those 1.5 million accounts, or at least whatever percentage of those are P2P ... Damn it sucks being pessimistic ... <_< Hate to say this three times... I have seen numbers of my mining ranks gone up by 300k ranks and my magic rank increasing dramatically (at least 400k), so that is already 700k bots busted only by bots being higher JUST LOOK: http://runetracker.org/track-wissie,11,2 http://runetracker.org/track-wissie,7,2 (it is bugged because if you are not in the highscores you are rank 0 so that is why it decreased 1,6mil instead of increasing 400k). So there is the proof of at least half of the 1,5mil. I think you would have done better not repeating yourself the first time. Proof of what? That you've climbed in ranking? Your math doesn't add up. If they rollback the bots, you'd climb in ranking. If they banned it, you'd climb in ranking too. If you trained it, you'd climb in ranking. Your increased ranks are meaningless. Let's look at this - http://runetrack.com/averages.php?user=Blyaunte -- I've dropped 463 ranks over-all in the past month. 40 ranks in fishing. If they were banning bots, right now - don't you think some of my ranks would have been affected? Especially something like fishing? Point is -- and you missed it -- my question is whether or not they really intend on targeting 98% of these bots and "banning" 1.5M accounts as they claim -- and, if they don't, what amount are you willing to consider acceptable. Frankly, while I suppose I may be willing to accept lesser numbers, I don't think, deep down, I'd be willing to accept "rollbacks", or temporary bans as opposed to permanent banning ...
