25-Nov-2011 Quick Poll: RuneFest 2012 Location
This is very true never thought of that! As far as I am aware Britain is one of the most lenient with the drinking age; most other countries (particularly english speaking ones) are 21 opposed to 18. It's 19 in most of Canada, but only 18 in Quebec. Quick, to Montreal! Actually -- as much as I love Montreal -- I think, Quebec City would be a far more appropriate venue. At least in terms of atmosphere and ambience ...

Actually it's totally irrelevant. Most venues in North America have designated areas within their operation which are deemed "all ages", while at the same time provide the service of alcohol to those who are clearly of legal drinking age (or can privide I.D.). :-P

01-Dec-2011 Behind the Scenes - December
People already don't read it. And most of these people who don't read I would imagine tend to use guides... ... which again, causes problems because people don't read the dialogue. Do you have any idea how many RSOF Quest Help posts start with the phrase: "The guide says ..."? One of the reasons I started writing guides a long time ago was because it became abundantly clear that people don't read the dialogue provided in the quest – well, that and the fact that they cannot follow the most basic of instructions ...

I'd wager that the vast majority of questions already asked on the RSOF from people seeking help for quests, results from someone not reading the quest chat conversation and knowing what they need to do next (which is usually solved by looking at the Quest Journal). I shudder to think what the Quest Help section of the RSOF is going to look like after they allow people to spam click the space bar through every conversation ...

Tip.It Times - 4th December 2011
Like Azura, I too saw the correlation between Alg's and Jo's articles, and I think both Alg and Jo are onto something ... It's true that, not so long ago, there was a lot of complaining from the community that the game needed more high-end content which it has received in SOME skills, such as herblore, but it has not seen in other skills such as smithing or crafting. Nonetheless, it does seem that the majority of Jagex's more recent content has been aimed at the long-term high level player and not, to the same degree, towards the mid-term middle level player and the low level introductory player has pretty much been ignored altogether. I think that Jo sees this as where the F2P game comes in. As an introductory tool, F2P serves as the carrot that lures players into the game with no cost to themselves. Jagex's recent efforts to strip the game of F2P content, while not adding sufficient amounts of low and middle level new content, are slowly but surely choking off the stream of new players into the game. Yes, there have been updates to certain F2P areas and, yes, some content has been improved in terms of the game-play environment but, notwithstanding, with the exception of Dungeoneering, the F2P game is barely any different than it was when RS2 was originally introduced. The end result of this is that, when a new free player joins the game and comes to that "meh" moment, when they can choose to advance to P2P or find another free game, they go looking for another free game. Thereafter, when they return to Ruescape to give it another go, there's no "new" F2P mid-level content, to re-capture their attention, and they go through another "meh" moment and leave the game behind again. As a long term high-level player, I want my high-level content but I am not so narrow minded that I cannot recognize that, while such updates are long overdue, they're not necessarily key important aspects of what the community needs at this point in time.

The Obligatory Ice Hockey Thread
There's a lot more wrong with that Capitals' team than just Ovechkin and a coach. They've been a bunch of under-achievers for quite a while now. What they need is some genuine leadership -- and Ovechkin does not provide that. He's not a leader. Hell -- he's not even a team player. Sadly -- they've got a lot of "million dollar talent(s) with 5-cent head(s)". Oh, and they also need a goalie ...

Toolbelt items: Hammer Chisel Needle Knife Tinderbox Saw? Crafting Equipment? Farming Equipment? Hunting Equipment? Combined with the fact it said all resources are 1 click now it makes at sound like, as a hidden extra of sorts, we will be able to click/right click logs to fm/fletch them or click gems to cut them. Afterall they said they are reducing clicks and using chisel or knife on x can easily be tidied down by making left click options for tht items appropriate action. Added some in afterthought ...

Tip.It Times - 27th November 2011
Now now, we don't need to throw that stale argument around. :shame: F2Pers have a say in the game too, even if they don't pay. And while the article may not feel like feedback to some of us, it hopefully will give some insight on what some of the community is feeling right now. In the end we're all players of the game. Ya know, Id like to think that I am probably far more liberal than the average poster on these forums, although one never knows, but I am becoming literally sick and tired of listening to the welfare cases [bleep], beef and moan about the quality of the free hand outs that they are given -- time and again. Theyve been given a free game to play. It costs them nothing. They put nothing into it financially. They play it "irregularly" or "only occasionally" or they make up various reasons to otherwise not pay for it or claim that its more challenging to play a limited free game than it is to play an unlimited full game. Yeah yeah. Whatever their reason, they feel entitled to [bleep] about the game despite the fact that theyve contributed nothing to it financially. What they don't see is that theyve been leeching off the good intentions of the manufacturers for some 10 years now, and yet still cannot find it within themselves to pony up sufficient funds to pay for the service being provided to them. No instead theyd rather sit pretty and let things be given to them because theyve sat there, forever, making demands like spoiled children, expecting the world to doll out another hand out to them because screaming for one has always worked for them in the past -- and it should continue to work for them now. Frankly, I cannot understand why, ten years later, the free game even exists any more. It was originally offered through Newgrounds and other similar gaming sites as a means of getting attention for the game. Now that the game has been established, there is, IMO, no need for the free game whatsoever. Its time that people realized that this isnt "Andrew Gowers Runescape" anymore. Its no longer his labour of love. Its no longer his free game. Its a BUSINESS with employees and it is run by businessmen who have shareholders to answer to, and peoples jobs to pay for. The people playing the free game arent paying anyones salary. Theyre not adding to the coffers of the shareholders. What makes any of them think theyre more deserving of anything they've already received? What makes them think theyre so entitled? Its fine for them to free-load off the labours of others, I suppose but be fricken grateful for what they're being given. /rant

25-Nov-2011 Quick Poll: RuneFest 2012 Location
Inasmuch as none of the locations offered are actually close to me although New York and Chicago are both just under 800km away and that I have no intention of actually attending such activities anyway, Id like to think that my own opinion in this matter is entirely unbiased. As such, Id like to point out that, in an effort to build interest in the game itself and lets face it, with fewer than 100,000 people now playing at any given time, Runescape needs the interest itd be a far better way to garner more attention for the game itself to have Runefest in New York than in London. While I appreciate that Runescape is a British game and I am constantly reminding my American friends of this fact it is important that the Euros in this forum find out what a media madhouse the United States and, in particular, New York City has become. A 1-minute sound byte on CNN would get a hell of a lot more attention than any 10-minute session on BBC News, for example and, trust me, this comes from someone who gets her world news from the BBC. For the purposes of what is best for the game, I think its high time that Runescape got out of its localized affect, and made an effort to expand its appeal to a wider market. Who knows? If its held in NYC, maybe Chuck Norris, Mr. T. and William Shatner will attend?

22-Nov-2011 - RuneScape Revolution v3 & Anti-Gold Farming Measures V2
Just a note for reference purposes -- a friend of mine spotted some "bots" collecting toads in Grand Tree. We investigated them and they appeared to be bots to us. Had a couple of pmods within my clan check 'em out and they reported them too. There wasn't a lot of them -- maybe 2 to 5 per world, but they were on more than one world operating all at the same time. I mention this here with the hope that peeps keep an eye out for these bots and report 'em when you see them.

Currency tab?
Again -- a lot of drama over nothing. When I first saw the icon itself, I saw it on a Wilderness graphical update picture, and considered that it had something to do with the "Bounty Hunter" update. That said, inasmuch as it seems to appear within non-Wilderness boundaries, it's most likely a price checker icon. Honestly people -- calm the [bleep] down already.

The Obligatory Ice Hockey Thread
The very same. There will always be a hint of bitterness when you ask a Leafs fan about Tyler Seguin. I don't know about "always", probably just as long as Kessel plays for the leafs. For example, I don't know any leafs fans who are still bitter about Scott Neidermayer.. Really? I do. Hell - I know Leafs fans who are still bitter about Bobby Orr ...

Interestingly enough, it was Wicked/Stev who suggested that Jagex should hire a bot maker to find a way to beat the bots. It looks like they listened to his advice ...
