Yes, I didn't want to directly copy them, so I referenced their real life counterparts and applied a runescape twist onto those ;)

24 Feb 2010 - RuneScape Machinima Contest 2 Poll
Toad replied to Logdotzip's topic in General Discussion
So you voted in this competition based on an entry for last competition? Hmm... Pretty much, I see potential there and honestly it's a style the entertains me the use of camera angles on this years was a nice blend too it wasn't too cliched not the typical text overlay, pan zoom bit of speech. -

Number 8 I voted mainly as I stated elsewhere, Evil_Yakuza entered last year, does anyone remember the evil cheese video? that was his in the Machinima 09, I voted partly because of last years entry he did, not particularly this years (I didnt really like the top ten) Number 8s AKA Evil_Yakuzas 2009 entry is why he got my this years vote. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeY_7dMuOc4 -

I wouldn't buy anything if they used a video of an online game to sell their products. The creaters of those ads have a ton more recourses, just lower your standards a little. :P Most had no hook to keep me watching ;) besides, the Wilderness Guardians video was absolutely astounding, yet it didnt make top 10 so.. I agree the Extreme Emotes would have got my vote it was interesting and actually refreshing.. I honestly thought it was a clear winner -
I entered the Machinima Comp earlier in the month, mine was animation based (wasn't a finalist) but here are some of the final pieces that contributed towards my 30 second clip [hide][/hide] From Left to right, Jad, Chickens, Cow, Lucien, Wise Old Man

They have logs of pretty much everything, they learned a very harsh lesson from the Partyhat dupes in November 2003, there can't really be a rollback.. If the accounts still trying to dump hundreds of thousands of bolts are banned then one day they might reach the same price. (but those around for the Partyhat dupe will know Jagex can't tell the duped from the originals so there's nothing that can be done apart from ban)

TJ was awesome (The_Jeppoz for clarification), so was Princess_(can't remember rest of her name) and Xman without question!

BIg difference between discontinued and an item that there'll be hundreds to thousands flooding in monthly (and the crown doesnt look that good)

Might be resting place for Dragn dragon, and allso hinting that kin will release their might soon Just about that Kin will be up to reveal their plan. Yes but Dragon dragons are years off.. we first need Adamant, Rune, and then Dragon so about 3-4 years? I'd hate to have to wait for the new area for that long wouldn't you? (basically im saying scratch that out) but the Dragonkin is highly possible

300 Quest Points, Strange Power & A new land (that you cant see the interesting bits off because of such a big expansion).

I avoided the cliched order now, and as I said I'm not afraid to try something different the staff of armadyl was the item, it's pretty hard to advertise something different in 30 seconds "a pot, put stuff in it wear it as a hat" thousands of entrys like that, I'm open to criticism honestly, but as a first flash video (I do mean a first) it's honestly not that bad atleast it's not stickmen and I'm happy to have atleast attempted to try something out of the box so to speak then the typical "HAI BILLY MAYS HERE U WANT 3000GP I SELL U 4M!!". I liked the end product though, concidering the past two days with camera panning I had limbs falling off the models, things bouncing around like they were made of rubber, and audio problems last minute, I started with 13 days to go, I had to build a fully working model of Lucien (go and try and draw a working Lucien limb for limb there's no good pictures of him and a direct copy of the runescape one is slightly unoriginal put a style on there that works for you) test it pivots properly make refinements the Lucien I made could actually do backflips but I could hardly say "Buy the Staff of Armadyl and do backflips" then there's Jad, the Wise Old Man, The Healers (couldn't fit them in for 30 seconds), the 4 Chickens (only put 3 in the animation), The Cow setting up the scene, lip syncing (takes a very long time) and actually animating, I think for the time period & the first video I've done in this software of a real animation really I've showed promise (I will probably make future ones for fun and I have some interesting ideas, atleast I won't be bound to a timeline). I think this first attempt isn't bad, if I was to expand upon this I'd do multiple scenes (different camera angles) this was one scene so it didn't really have many variations, I was scared to draw a background for the reasons of well.. would Jagex accept it so I put a runescape video in the background which I honestly think make the video suffer, rigging the character in ways limbs don't fall off. for a learning process jumping in the deep end I'm glad I did, of course my friend did say when I made this unless I'm hitting hard the RuneScape Community won't appreciate animation they want childless humour and famous video makers... The Wilderness Guardians HAS and I mean HAS to be top five, it's a huge commitment to do animation, frame by frame which he has, the thing that works for his entry is the contrast, you look at the start and the end. It starts quite tranquil eerie music, quite natural lava flowing, a spider crawling around it builds up from that moment, individual battles panning backwards (so the viewer is always on the backfoot and doesn't know whats coming) the perspective works well, the arrow flying at the camera etc, and ends with the players/warriors standing still at the corporeal beast which shows his power and it ends well with the big roar, quite alot for him to pull off for frame by frame, 25 frames a second for 27 or so? that's 675 hand-drawn frames. atleast it's not a mindless entry of endlessly panning and zooming through scenes, the emotes one was different too. -

A wonderful entry! Mine was animation too but he has a great setting theatrical music and lots of action! ( you couldnt achieve this in regular RuneScape) why don't Jagex launch an animation competition? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHGNtqbiAEM Mine I didn't post yet is below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwfoUAu4b5I I'll continue to go through and find more, I have watched ALL entrys far bar the past.. 30 or so hours -
I knew the majority of that already, alot of quest lines will be finished this years, and new seeds sown over next few years, which will be fun to see ;) I also knew about revamp to minigames although I'm not sure where I read that *Cough I do really* I can't wait for 80 or 90 armours though hopefully as a result of uber cool hard hitting and cool looking beasts!

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
Toad replied to Obtaurian's topic in General Discussion
It's fair to be honest, I have a cape or two but if players would rather spend slayer points that's fine too, afterall they do have 93 slayer and the task. -

For the all the test renders, the actual building of the models, the refinements it takes alot of work, (I had never used the software before so it took a lot longer to actually do simple tasks find certain buttons etc) I was going for that kind of style personally I'm glad I did it, just not the final render ;) and I appreciate the opinion if that's not your sort of thing then thats fine  there are far more pieces of art that didn't make it into the 30 seconds, I could always submit to the players gallery  -

Toad replied to Saradomin_Mage's topic in General Discussion
What does this post even mean? Also, "Oh noo, Jagex is not fulfilling their obligation to release huge amounts of content every week! Why can't they update slayer every single week? I'd be so happy." Get over it; Jagex doesn't need to give us a giant update each week. How about one every 2 months? We haven't had anything great since Nomad. And the double runes, quest, mint cake thing was not big because it was two weeks of combined updates. Oh, and a lot of us had some issues with Nomad on a different level. If we had big content every week we'd define it as normal, and we'd want "bigger" content, plus the game would change so much unless you have the time to play it'd be hard to keep up. -
