It's Super Effective!
- Best barrows?
Q, can you please not suggest a method that requires about 150m in gear? >_<- Storm of Armadyl
As for the prices, well everything would just become more expensive (base price) and hence more profitable. Maybe let smithing generate products which can be used to "repair" melee equipment free of charge: so smithing becomes to melee what runecrafting is to magic. Why would it destroy it? You have to train melee 3 times? - Well What is the problem with that, why would it become useless, it still holds more dps than magic (mostly). And the costs would balance out quickly due to price rising (as obviously people have to ask much more to sustain profit). It would make equipment more expensive, yet at the same time it would mean smithing would be usefull again, and magic would become a pvm option too. (Due to more expensive prices and thus magic costs not too high anymore). The more variety the better in my books. It would destroy it for very simple reasons: More cost = less people can afford to do pvm. More cost also = harder to profit from pvm. You say prices would go up as supply would be limited; but if people have less money and pvm is a more elite thing to do due to cost demand will bottom out as well. Thus creating a limbo where pvm isn't profitable because nothing will sell. And it wouldn't create more variety, there's more than enough "variety" available its just people naturally go for the best options they can, if anything the added cost would jsut polarise things more so you had a greater bulk of players on the "cheap" level gear as they can't break through to the top end. Personally I don't see the problem, melee is naturally the best choice by and large as it is not a consuming combat format. Its the same in nearly every game out there, people go for melee as it doesn't consume stuff (and in some cases mage for the games where u have mana/reload times opposed to some form of magical ammo) You could argue range and mage should out dps melee to balance the cost; but then thats not good gameplay because it heavily favours the rich who can blow money on it. I always see these debates on the combat triangle but personally I don't see it being that unbalanced all 3 classes have max dps in similar region and all 3 have their uses and their failings. Just happens to be we don't have many pvm situations so far where there is a significant mage weakness to exploit (other than ice strykes, barrows and glacors), same as in dg there just happens to be very few monsters with a ranged weakness significant enough to warrant using it (as a general rule I know few exceptions with hexhunter etc.) Essentially I think my point is: People always turn to blame the combat skills themselves when they each in their own work fine, it's just the monsters we currently have favour certain tactics. All we need is a few bosses with epic range n melee def and boom mage pvm works fine. This. Most weapons have their niches. I can easily point out niches for all chaotic weapons, places where mage is useful and places where range is useful. It's just that more often then not, melee is more useful. Still wish mage was a bit cheaper for stuff like slayer tho. Tbh, I think the change for magic should come from improving RC so you simply make more runes (and preferably more exp.) As a random thought, what would it be like if all runes got the multiple rune bonus of air or fire runes, and you get exp per rune made instead of per ess used? Significantly increased RC production and exp.- It's Super Effective!

Why is that an issue?- Storm of Armadyl
Tbh, unlimited bloods AND deaths and limit it to elemental spells. I think this spell is good because it makes mage potentially as effective as melee on bosses (wonder what maxed mage + SoA would do to Nex? And if you're fighting Nex, expecting maxed gear seems reasonable.) But unless mage proves more effective then existing methods, it likely won't get used due to cost. Tbh, I kinda think that the armadyl orbs or w/e should need 1k armadyl shards and drop a shard every Glacor kill. Keep making the Armadyl runes as is so that they become cheaper. (Not 100% sure on this because, Jagex has pointed out, there will be a lot more free armadyl shards to use on runes once there are more staffs in the game.)- General Advice
Um, you can chin nechraels for charms and good range exp. I recommend your first goal is to get the charms for 88 summon, get 88 summon, get the stats for WGS and then you can kill TDs. Basic TD gear is pretty cheap - void or d'hide works fine. For range, handcannon since you have 99 firemaking. 65 herb will be easy, it'll take an hour or two and a few mil. Farm will be harder - personally I wouldn't worry about using farming for profit until 65 and just do trees until 65. Trees can get fairly expensive, but the needs you'll be planting under level 65 shouldn't be very expensive. After that, if you can get 88 herblore (or whatever you need for ext att and to make an ext str while boosted with a greenmans ale) do that. You should have money leftover after 88 summ/65 farm/65 herb (since that's what you really need for TDs.) Depending on how much money you have leftover, herblore might not be worth it - herblore is pretty much useless outside of quests until you can use extremes. So if you don't have enough money after 88 summ and 65 herb/farm, spend it on a set of claws instead. Also, barrows is a decent money maker imo.- Best chaotic for sara
Pretty sure CLS/Maul is best for Sara. Maul is generally better I think unless you're tanking in divine/torva. Could be wrong.- Mage, the new dps king
Haaaaahhhhhh. Have you ever tried mage TDs? The real pain in the ass is selecting the spell on top of every other thing you have to do. I actually gave Fire Surge a shot once because I have 99 range and 85 mage (and this was before I got extremes/ovls) and grave up because switching was a pain in the ass. Of course, I wasn't as good at item swapping them, and part of it was how I seemed to take more damage then my usual set up due to low range def. But still, the real issue imo is APM; every time you switch styles you need to select/deselect the spell on top of everything else. .... Okay, I'd totally actually try it at TDs if I had anywhere near enough money for the staff tbh.- Mage, the new dps king
This. Except, mage gear doesn't get range def just like melee gear doesn't get mage def. What'd be more likely is higher accuracy mage gear with ok melee def, combined with a choice selection of melee gear that gives high range/melee def and minimal negative magic bonus. Mage has always been really powerful in PVP to begin with, just maybe not something that can stand 100% on it's own until now. And the issue with PVM mage has always been one more of cost then DPS.- It's Super Effective!

- Just WHAT is a solid money gaining activity?
Because the average expected profit is always less than 0 when pking. But you can expect rare drops? Is that how it works? There's always dragons etc for guaranteed profit. If the chance of a barrows item is 1/18, and you do 18 chests, you have a 65% chance of getting an item. Do 36 chests and you have a 87% chance of getting an item. And you are fighting computers, who do not learn if you find an effective way to kill them and always fight using the same methods. PK'ing is different because there's the human factor, you don't know what the other person will do or how he will fight or what he will use. It has a lot of unpredictable variables, unlike PVM where the drop rate is always the same and how the monster acts is always the same. And PK'ing is sum 0, which means whatever profit you earn PK'ing is money someone else lost, so to make money you need to be better then the average person. I do understand how some people can make money off of this, but in general if a person wants to make money you shouldn't suggest PK'ing. That's like suggesting someone make IRL money via poker. Sure, some people are good at the game and can make tons of money reliably, but the average person is lucky to break even in the long run.- It's Super Effective!
