  1. No. It means their is no proper staff. Unless you can use staffs to charge other staffs. Tought you needed runes and no staffs. I don't know, cause I never tried it myself. If someone says you can do iy with staff, I'll change it right away! Yes, you can use staff to charge orbs. You're not charging the staves themselves, you're charging orbs which are then attached to battlestaves. And you can perfectly well use an elemental staff instead of the proper runes when casting "Charge x orb". Saves a bit on elemental runes.
  2. I disagree. A noob is a scammer/hacker/macroner, nothing to do with combat or toal xp I go as far as saying that the combat level isn't even a good measure of someone's levels (and it's definitely not a good measure of one's noobiness). I'm only level 76 combat, but I keep it low on purpose. I'm quite proud of my 76 Magic, my 70 Herblore, my 66 Farming and my 57 Construction. They're not skyhigh stats, but they're better than many a level 90 combat. Oh, and I'd add beggar and flamer to your list of noobs.
  3. I'll address the reply you had for my post, I have issues with pretty much all your replies but not enough time to address them all. You did not demonstrate anything with your original post, as your logic is flawed and simplistic. You reduce the money flow to a trivial matter, which it is not. You banalize the influence that banked money has on economy, as if it was simple to turn 250m into raw goods to work on your skills. As a very small example, I'm not a rich player, but I have right now about 4-5 million GPs in raw goods in my bank, and simply not enough time to use all of it. And no, your example does not demonstrate that the inflation on rares has no influence on wether the whole market suffers inflation or not. Given any small part of a problem, trust me, one can demonstrate anything. But it's when we try to fit in the whole picture that problems show up, and you didn't. I have a name for discussions with people like you. Pointless. edit: by the way, you've once again avoided the original question put to you. Why should rares go?
  4. Is it me or was the other topic still open? Did someone lock it by any chance? Was it absolutely necessary to start another one? This is starting to sound like a personal crusade against rares, rather than the kind of thing you claimed it to be at first. Your comparison of RS rares to real life collectible items makes me laugh, to say the least. There's so much more to it than what you make it to be, i don't even know where to start. In your view, economy is a simple matter of relating usefullness and value of items. It is oooh so much more than that! On your example of the 250mill, the problem doesn't just propagate itselft, you're wrong. One of two things happens: either money is removed from the economy eventualy (like with construction now) or it is kept by someone in bank. It isn't linear that the money will eventualy go to comodities, this is not true. That's why the rares prices are ever increasing, exactly because the money ISN'T going to comodities, but instead to increasingly more expensive rares. In short, the money doesn't reach that point you talked about. It just keeps moving until out of the game. If it wasn't for the inflation in rares prices, there wouldn't be ANY stable prices in RS comodities. The inflation would be propagated to everything else, as happens in real life. Yes, RS economy is different from RL economy in that way. Outside of the game we have inflation in everything, inside there isn't. I for one, like it better this way. I prefer to have a few (very expensive) items in the economy increase in prices than everything else.
  5. Amen. Right from the start, in the first few posts this question appeared. I think it was Satenza that first posted it, and it is still not answered. WHY should rares be removed? And paulhartman, your arguments on the "size" of the rares market and it's weight on the RS economy are just ludicrious. Ask any smart economist what drives the world market and he'll have one answer for you. It's not comodities, it's not even oil. It's gold (and other "rares" like diamonds). Gold in itself has no real value, you can't eat it, it won't drive your engine, not a single practical use. But it has a value given to it by its rarity. Now how many people in the world own gold in any meaningfull ammounts? 0.0001 percent of the world population? Maybe if we take everyone that owns some gold AT ALL we possibly come to 1% of the world. Does this statistic make the gold market useless or dispensable? I think not. And by the way, I'm quite angry at your arguments, I think you're an idiot, my communication skills are fine and I don't own a rare. Where does this leave me on your scale of judging everyone who replies to you, oh Grand Master Communication Teacher?
  6. I think that sword symbol only appeared today after this last update.
  7. Bah, H.A.M. is evil, even more evil than Zamorak! I'm a Dragon Slayer, if I ever hit 70 prayer I might change it to Guthix, but for now I'm happy with Dragon.
  8. Here's mine, I built it from the start with some utility in mind.. A few notes: - second bedroom is the servant's; - second garden is because I wanted one with a fountain instead of portal; - I plan to build a formal garden in the free space between the parlor, the kitchen and the garden. Then the throne room above it; - I'm level 52 and have everything as good as I can get at this level, except for Chef's Delight (waiting for it to brew) and most Skill Hall stuff (only got the rune case there). - I'd like to get construction up to 60 soon, but it's not a priority right now. As a side note, seems to me the Skill Hall symbol is wrong. The rune case is on the wrong side, I think it's near the corner opposite the Slayer head.
  9. You can hardly complain about people flaming you, from the start you haven't exactly been nice. There's lots of reasons to train construction. I've been thinking of one, I really believe that having a portal room with a portal set on Kharyll and a chapel at your house will become one of the best ways to make Barrows runs. Besides you also get to repair your barrows stuff there for cheaper then at the NPC's. There will be ways to make money of construction, I believe many rich people will want to show off their wealth without actually having to get construction up, so high level constructers will be able to sell those items. And then there's the fun aspect of it, I garantee it's great once you start it. For me, I'm gonna get construction up to 50 and then build the best house I can at that level. From there on it will become another skill that I'll level when I can and feel like it.
  10. Taken from the knowledge base. The skill looks like a big money sink (I don't like the word "waster" in this case) but it's also in it's early moments. It may become a viable money source eventually, we will have to wait and see.
  11. I agree. I have both obby and legends cape and use legends on my everyday things, because i like it's look, the fact it says "I did legends quest" and it's cheap to replace should i die to a random event. But whenever i go fighting I put my obby on, it's just plain better, no way around that.
  12. I've asked this before to a guy who insisted on trying to kill me. I truly am curious, personally I have nothing against rc pk'ers. I know it's not the mainstream view, but as an abby rc'er myself I don't hate you or anything, the thing is in the wilderness so pking is something we have to be prepared for. And the fact is if it wasn't for pkers there would be nothing stoping everyone from doing this, which surely would kill runes' prices. I don't have much respect for you either, but that's a different story. It's a living, I guess. But back to my question: is it possible to kill abbyss rc'ers without teleblock? Seems (to me) like one would have to be quite careless to let himself get killed.
  13. Same set up as most people here. Inventory: - Pouches (small to large) - Ectophial (also switching to elf crystall from now on) - Pure essence - Glory (yes I don't equip it. it's more a superstition than anything else) (used to bring prayer potion and shark, just in case, but never really needed it, so took them out. maybe if someone pks me once i'll change my mind again) Equipped: - Coif :? - Defense Ammy 8-) - Full Red D-hide, including vambs - Saradomin Book - God Cape (should be Saradomin, but I'm a Guthix guy) - Boots of Lightness - Ring of Life (might just work, better than wearing nothing) - Bronze Hatchet Have also never been pked, and runecrafted nearly 12k natures already. My best defense is my combat level, only 76. I've been attacked a few times, but only one of my attackers deserves my respect, he was truly talented. He was the only one that teleblocked me. I teled just in time, but was stranded in Port Phasmatys for what seemed like an eternity. A few others have tried, but at my level I have a more relaxing time than most. To successfully pk me, you need to have a very good pure and, gladly, most people who devote their time into making such a good character find better uses for him than killing little old rc'er me :) I've decided to avoid leveling combat by all means possible, and this suits me nicely as I always wanted to be a mage anyway. It does make leveling slayer a pain though. You try doing slayer without the possibility of meleeing and see how expensive and slow it can get :?
  14. I can perfectly deal with them, despising them in the way. It's no pain for me believe me. Some months ago I was in my first week of members, exploring the world I came into the Tai Bwo Village. A villager there attacked me and did take quite a chunk of my life, although I was wearing full rune. And he poisoned me. I had no food and anti and panicked. Although I did have a glory to teleport, I somehow thought the best way out would be to run to hte general store. I start running and come accross some guy. As soon as he sees me he starts running in front of me, noticing I was poisoned. He got to the store first, and I opened the store screen just in time to see all the anti pots disappear. Knowing I was dead, I finally reacted and teled to Edge to bank everything. Of course it wasn't in time and I died in Edge, keeping two pieces of rune and something else (not sure if it was glory or something else). It was my fault I died because I panicked. But I sure am glad I didn't die next to that greedy bastard... he got nothing from me for his evil deed.
  15. I actually thought I was scam proof, I've been a target of several of those simple tries, changing money ammount after first trade screen mainly. Once someone also tried to sell me willows instead of yews. I felt very safe because I read about most scams here on Tip.it forums (btw, thanks people). But yesterday they tried one on me I never read about. I was selling some runes on a forum and some guy says he'll buy. He asks me to go the range guild, says he's training there. I go ok, it's fairly close to a tele spot. I've never been in there before and go in without thinking twice. I see the guy waiting for me at the base of the center tower and he immediately goes up the stairs. I follow, not knowing anything about what happens there. Up there he trades me and immediately runs outside. I like to take things easy and I smell something fishy, so he doesn't get me. But after a few seconds of him being outside, I move outside too to trade, and immediately get attacked. I get downstairs just in time to survive. Now at this point I'm still not sure it's a scam, mind you. Yes, I am that naive. So I go back upstairs but stay inside safely. At this point a lvl 22 comes and starts saying that it's perfectly safe to go outside, IF I turn auto-retaliate ON. If I do, the archers will stop attacking me. At this point I pack up and leave, and the guy that first got me there either logs out or puts me on his ignore list. And that's my story. I didn't die because I was lucky enough to have auto-retaliate off. I would have lost 2k nats and the black cav I was wearing. Sorry for the long post, I've wanting to tell my whole story but didn't feel like it was worth a topic on it's own. I think you should add this scam to your guide. And great idea on the guide, definitely something everyone should read:)
  16. edit: might as well close. I just asked a fellow RCer (the first one I ever saw bringing a book too) and he cleared my doubt for me. Thanks to all that read this. I just recently found out that if you die with your god books u can get them back for free at the quest guy (Jossik?). Since then I bought a Saradomin book and have been using it to Abbyss runecraft. But I wonder why no one else does this, at least I never see anyone with it. So I wonder, does the get back for free thingy still work if I die in the wilderness and/or am pked? Am I risking around 400k by doing this?
  17. I knew I could get it back, I just didn't know it would have all the pages in it. I was in for a nice suprise when I went there:) Thank you for letting me know, guys, that's really good news. As an update, I killed Dessous quite easily and have now the diamonds of Shadow and Blood. Will be going for the remaining two later today. Thanks to everyone that posted. edit: That means my huge mistake only cost me a glory, about 150 bloods and some splitabark pieces... not too bad.
  18. Yes I did. I had to use it on the tomb for him to come out, and then it was empty. I definitely used the garlic on the blood too. I bought it and spice from the Ardy stall, crushed the garlic with the mortar and pestle and added it. No mistake there. I even used "Examine" on it before to make sure. --- Sorry guys. I just realized... I didn't get it blessed:( That stupid mistake cost me over a million in stuff (I lost a zammy book plus a lot of other stuff, including bloods). The good side of it is now I know I can get through it:) Next time he̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôs mine!
  19. I don't get it. I really don't. Lots of people told me "you're not ready", "you're too low on combat". I wanted to prove them wrong. I want to finish all the quests at my level. I managed to kill him, using Wind wave, standing behind the fence and praying anti-ranged (which seems useless because the bats still hit me, but just in case). I eat about 10 sharks and I manage to kill him. And then he gets full health again and says "You will never kill me, mortal". So I have to kill him again... and I do. The same thing happens all over again, and I just have time to ecto out before he comes for me again. I restock and go back, thinking it must have been a fluke. It wasn't, the same thing happened all over again. Except this time I didn't ecto out when I should have and he killed me. I lost a bunch of expensive stuff that I now know I shouldn't have taken in the first place. What's up with him coming back? It̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôs normal? He has several forms? And if so why don't any of the guides mention this? edit: I just gathered myself and remembered exactly what got me killed. I thought that the problem the first time was that I was killing him from a distance. So the second time, when he was almost dead I moved in to kill him in DDS range. I got killed themoment the second version came out, didn't react fast enough.
  20. Current goals: - Get all skills above 60 - Complete all quests (except Devious Minds, I don't think I'll ever do that one).
