  1. If you like being healthy and you like having money don't smoke. If you like being addicted to something that gives you a fix that you enjoy and you like being dependant on stuff that costs you thousands and thousands of dollars over the course of your life that you could be using to save for retirement or buy fun stuff like a new car instead then go ahead and smoke.
  2. I absolutely agree with your absolute disagreement. :P
  3. That situation is what they call a ward at a mental hospital. We aren't in one. Go ask someone that works at a mental hospital the answer to this question. They could give you a better answer than I could.
  4. Once again. This isn't about Christianity. It is about if there is a higher being that created the Universe or not and what can we observe in the realm of physics back our thoughts. . That's it. There are plenty of other threads to go to if you want to talk about other stuff. Another thing I notice all ya'll keep saying in your Christian rants are just opinions. Many keep acting like Christians ignore science or aren't logical. Then prove my logic wrong from my original post. I am open to any logical insights you may have on it. Otherwise go post on another thread that is more focused on what you want to discuss. warri0r45 wrote: Once again an opinion with no facts to back it up. This OT forum is never going to get anywhere until people back opinions with facts. That is the only way for educational positive dialogue to take place. Anyways I am still researching quantum physics looking for an answer to a question I have regarding the quantum vacuum effect. I'll get back to the discussion in a bit...
  5. And to this I refer you back to my post that was ignored earlier. I will repost it for you to respond to since it directly applies to a permanent situation vs. a temporary drug trip. You could also use my drug and pink furry elephant example on a person that has some kind of mental disorder that is a permanent condition. Does that change the truth of the situation? No. All it means is they will permanently keep their flawed perception of reality because their brain is too damaged to function properly.
  6. Read the quest guide on tip it. It explains everything.
  7. Pault, I have a question in response to your question. If a person is tripping on drugs, walks out in the street in front of a bus but all they see is a giant gentle furry pink elephant coming to hug them instead of a bus and then that bus runs them over splattering their brains all over the windshield. What is the reality of their situation? Were they correct that a giant gentle furry pink elephant came to hug them or was it really just a bus about to make them road kill the entire time? Perception: I am about to get a wonderful hug Reality: A bus is about to kill you Lesson: Don't do drugs. :P
  8. Pault and Tigra... you guys are just ranting opinions on a topic that isn't even what this discussion is about. This is not about evolution. This is not about Earth. This is not about how man was created. This is about the origins of the Universe. If you have anything insightful or productive to say about that then feel free to share. As to assassin_696 post... I thought that was a great post. I am researching into Quantum Vacuuem Fluctuations and Zero Point Energy at the moment. Once I find the answer to a question I have about it I'll get back to ya. I'll also link a few websites I am reading with some really interesting papers from Quantum Physicists if anyone would be interested.
  9. Thanks for the compliment Korla. I did come up with that analogy. Then again it may not be a fault... I don't know of any scientific evidence suggesting there is a flaw in the 2nd law. Let me know if you are aware of any. Thanks. If he created the Universe he defines science, science does not define him. If the universe created him then you fall back into the second law trap which I would still like someone to point out a flaw in other than telling me a law of science isn't true and not having any scientific references showing me otherwise. That is a completely different discussion. The present discussion is only concerned with trying to figure out if there is a God in the first place. Agunimon979: This is just an opinion. Now I am placing the burden of logically proving this opinion on you. That is the point of this thread. To leave opinions at the door and to try to just deal with facts and how they can be applied. Insane: I didn't use science to analyze God. analyze: consider in detail and subject to an analysis in order to discover essential features or meaning; I am not considering in detail. I am considering in the broadest sense of the word. The only thing I am considering is if he exists. I make no claim past that using this line of thought. Assume you believe the following statement is correct just for this one question. "The universe as we know it could not exist in it's present form unless it had a definite beginning that would have had to break all laws of science." Would this not be a huge neon lit flashing billboard clue that something supernatural would have to be involved in it's beginning? If not then what is the alternative?
  10. You just agreed with Locke. Their perception changes. Their reality does not.
  11. I think it is great you did this. Sorry if it appeared I was jumping on your case. The thing is you don't need to find averages. All ya need to do is say x amount of nests for y amount of trees with a rabbit foot. x amount of nests for y amount of trees without a rabbit foot. That's it. Quick, clean, and simple. Sorry if I came across as negative towards ya. I was just trying to give some constructive criticism to get better insight into the rabbit foot. On a side note someone going for 99 woodcutting would get the most benefit from a rabbit foot if it works. Someone going for 1k logs would get the least.
  12. I know someone who has schizophrenia. He believes Britney Spears came to Wendy's when he was eating there and made him move to the other side of the resteraunt. Then he followed that story up saying he also saw Pamela Anderson there one time. BTW this Wendy's isn't anywhere close to a place stars would be visiting. (he can't get out much so he incorporates what he sees on television into his real life) He truly believes this happened... It didn't. It is not true.
  13. I am not measuring a supernatural distance with a natural yardstick. You are saying I am using X to measure Y. What I am doing is saying X cannot exist unless Y existed. It is the same argument as saying a person walking through the wildnerness found a freshly baked muffin on the ground next to a blazing campfire. The muffin was still warm and smelled great. What can we conclude from this? Another human made it and it was made recently. Does this define anything at all about who that human is? No. It is indirect proof that a human was there and made a muffin and fire nd they are somewhere in the local vicinity even if I can't sense that they are. . The muffin and campfire cannot exist unless the person that made them exists. Does that make it more clear?
  14. You missed the whole point made a few posts up about the pink unicorn... If I write it exists and believe it exists in my living room and I convince 1 million people it exists and they all write it exists... Guess what? It still doesn't exist. Belief does not make truth. Truth makes truth. God does not exist... unless he exists... It has absolutely nothing to do with whether people believe in him or not. If God existed and no one believed in him... he would still exist. If everyone believed in God yet he didn't exist then everyone would be wrong. This point you make does not make sense. The only way I can understand how a reasonably intelligent person could make this point is if they 100% believed without a shadow of a doubt that there was not a God and so they can't even concede the point that those people might be right. Because of this the only way their in your opinion imaginary God could be true is if they invented him for themselves.
  15. I just bought one 2 weeks ago for 550k. That is a really common price. You can catch them every now and then for lower 500's but if you don't feel like waiting around for a deal 550k works.
  16. I agree 74k logs is plenty for the test. My point is if without it he gets 16 a day which is the low end of his average and with it he gets 20 a day which is the high end of his other average then it would be worth it. How do I know if this is the case or if the actual numbers are about the same? I need to see the actual raw data instead of general averages. The strung rabbit foot could very well be rubbish but before I say that I would like to see raw data. My guess is it only increases the amount of nests you get by 5-10%. When the averages I see as final results vary by 25% a 5% gain would be lost in that result. To me a 5%increase is definitely worth wearing it.
  17. I think we have a good post to break down here to tie into the original poster's question with this thread. This comes from a post on the thread about Radical Islam. Here we have someone making a random offtopic post because he feels the need to share his views. I don't think any malice was purposefully intended in this post yet when you look at it from a different perspective it can be taken as an offensive personal attack against anyone that is religious. For example... Implication... religious people aren't logical thinkers... And this quote equals a personal attack on anyone believing in religion... This reads to me as... "What I believe is better and exciting and your way is dull and boring" And this is just an opinion... An opinion in a debate(not that anyone is even debating him in that thread, he just brought this up out of the blue) doesn't amount to jack. I know he probably didn't mean anything by these quotes but hopefully he can see how it could come across offensively to someone. It would be so easy for that person to get offended and fire back something at him. Suddenly we have a pointless flame war and the thread blows up. Everyone just needs to pay more attention to how they word things. I mean as long as no one actually hates someone for not having the same views as them I don't see why we should have any problems as long as we get on the same page. Personally I think it is ridiculous to hate someone merely on their outlook on life. Yeah I might think you are wrong but you probably think I am wrong. That's fine, I can live with that. As long as no one gets angry because the other person doesn't automatically agree it can lead to some really interesting and educational debates and discussions. I think all of this is the root of the strife on these threads. If you disagree with me on anything I would be glad to hear on what.
  18. edit* Nevermind... I'll post my response on a more applicable thread.
  19. Thanks for the correction Bluelancer. You are right, I accidentally had the two reversed.
  20. Lobsta is correct in what he is saying. In regards to red and white muscle different people genetically usually have a larger concentration of one or the other. You can train your muscle so that you change concentrations to a point but guys like Vince Carter will always have mostly explosive red muscle while guys like Lance Armstrong will always be predisposed to white endurance muscle. The point being that a lot of what your body can be is genetics so don't get frustrated if it isn't what you consider your ideal. I find it funny how everyone always wants to be someone else. The skinny type guy wishes he could put on muscle like the big guy. The big guy wishes he could get as cut as the skinny guy. Everyone needs to learn to appreciate the positives of their own body, push themself to their own potential and be satisfied for a job well done. That's all you can do... and it is enough. :D
  21. As a tree farmer I cringe to read this. Watermelons are needed to pay farmers for several higher level trees. If you are ever going to grow trees keep your watermelons. Use pineapples. Every time you go to karamja load up on pineapples before you tele out. I never run out doing this. I usually grow on average about 6 trees and 1 or 2 herb patches a day and it works great for leveling farming.
  22. Then evil Bob would come and give you fishing experience for his mini game... then you would throw up... Either that or you would be cursed to live on Evil Bob's island the rest of your runescape life.
  23. Welcome to puberty... :P This doesn't happen to someone that isn't in the middle of puberty unless they are on 'roids(which are HORRRRRIBLE for you). I know this because it is similar to what my body did. From 9th to 10th grade I went from 5'9 to 6'3. From 10th grade to 11th I went from 155 to 195 all muscle. From 11th grade on I've only fluctuated +-7 pounds from that weight even though my strength, muscle, and how cut I am has varied greatly in that range. (I graduated college a couple of years ago) Don't feel bad anyone if you can't reproduce his 18lbs in one month. That is either roids or puberty. If you can average gaining 1/2 a pound of muscle a week you are doing awesome. If you are trying to lose weight losing 1 or 2 lbs a week is a great pace and the healthy way to do it. Remember... getting a body like you want isn't a diet or workout... its an entire lifestyle change in terms of what you eat, how much you eat, and how you keep yourself fit. If it isn't seen as such whatever you accomplish you won't keep. I have a question Wakka that you can PM me if you don't want to say on a public forum. A lot of what you are going to be trying to do depends on what your body type is. I already know you have a slow metabolism. Are you a large guy? Are you naturally strong? For the best advice you need to give us an idea of height/weight/bodyfat percentage and where your target is in regards to these, how long u have been working out, what an idea of your present diet is, what body type you are, etc. For example, are you naturally a big hefty guy? A lot of times those guys can pack on the muscle and look like hosses. Me personally I got my mom's skinny genes so if I don't work out my muscles just get smaller and weaker while I lose my tone in my stomach and midsection. I'll never be a huge muscle guy but I can get as strong as huge muscle guys and ripped if I have the effort in. The big guy might do better with a high rep mid weight workout to focus on toning his already larger frame and muscles up. A guy with my build might do better to focus on low rep high intensity lifting to build muscle since naturally ours are smaller to start with. You always want to cycle your lifting(another variation to keep your muscles from getting used to lifts and stalling out) some between training endurance and strength/size but with my build I keep my cycle in the strength/size side of things longer than a naturally big guy would. A lot of what you can look like is genetics. Things like where your muscles connect and if you are more white muscle or red muscle, if you can get a six pack or not, etc makes a difference in what body type you can make yourself. Don't try to look identical to some model guy cuz most likely your genetics are different than his. You will probably have better genetics in some areas than him and worse genetics in other areas.
  24. The five dollars thing is very smart on their part. Runescape doesn't have the draw a WoW type game has so it can't charge 15 bucks a month. I played WoW and as soon as I got bored I canceled my subscription and quit. When I got bored with runescape I stayed a member and didn't play for six months and then came back because it was only 5 bucks a month. If it was much more than that I would have canceled and never given it another go. $5 bucks a month is a huge draw for this game and they would shoot themselves in the foot if they increased it to $10 a month. The game wouldn't keep going for years and years if they did that.
  25. I took pure creatine for a while back in high school for football. I lifted weights for about 6 or 7 years at least 3-5 times a week. I took creatine for 3-6 months... (it's been a while) and I couldn't notice any difference in my lifting. I quit for several reasons. I couldn't tell it was doing anything for me, it was expensive, and it was a pain dissolving it in fruit juice and keeping myself on the schedule to keep my body saturated with it. Finally I took it in '96 or '97 and as I understood still fairly new so I was worried if it carried any long term health risks. To me it just didn't make sense to keep taking it. I am naturally the skinny body type. I have to kill myself to gain weight. In highschool I would eat 4-6 meals a day(didn't pay attention to what it was as long as it was food) and workout with weights 3-5 times a week as well as 2+ hours of track or football practice every day. My bench press max got stuck at about 255 lbs for two years. It drove me nuts because I couldn't get it to go up no matter what I did. When I graduated Senior year a friend and I continued working out that summer and within about two months my bench jumped up to 290. Why is that? I believe I had been burning so much energy and working out so hard for so long during school in sports that my body never had a chance to rest and recover to be able to build muscle. When I finally got out of sports my body got that break it needed to fully rebuild everything I had been tearing down while lifting. From my personal experience lifting weights for about 10 years now these are the things I have found work best for my body. 1. Eat proper food. Stuff like chicken is good because it is high in protein and low in fat. Make sure to give your body the material it needs to build those muscles. Make sure to get your carbs as well so your body doesn't cannibalize itself. Stay away from empty calories... that is another mistake I made in highschool. 2. Give your body time to recover. This held me back for years in weights because I was forced to push it harder and faster than it could properly recover from. For example I now know my body cannot handle working out chest three times a week(your body might be able to, it can be different for different people). It just isn't enough time for it to repair. 3. Mix things up. My body will acclimate to doing the same lifts or same workouts all the time and start to stall. Keeping it offbalance helps me stay positive on progress. For example when I stall out on regular pullups I change to wide grip pullups. When I stall on that I might do lat pulls. Then back to regular pullups. There are all kinds of variations you can do.
