I've tried both methods, and range is MUCH easier. Melee may be quicker, but is alot harder, seeing as you have to switch between 3 prayers instead of 2.

As an owner of 6 fire capes on my recently stolen main (armaniaflip), I recommend range. I was 99 attack strength and defence, and only 80 range, and did both methods. Range was BY FAR the easier one, albeit the slower one. Melee was quicker, but also hard, and I had to keep my wits about me. I got hit twice. Not really sure what your talking about with the healer thing.. But yea, I recommend range \ ¬Albal
