  1. Tutorial: Giving C/C effectively, the do's and dont's What is the point in giving anyone C/C?: Giving C/C is a fantastic thing to do for somebody, C/C can help sombody develop new ideas, improve on ideas and improve greatly on there work. 1. Asess the thread (are they asking for C/C?) and check that it is good conditions for giving this person C/C. 2. Study their art peice, this means enlarge it in paint and look for errors or improvements, or whatever is needed for a greater understanding of their art peice. 3. Now its time to give the C/C, firstly a thing you should keep in mind when giving C/C is look for things that alot of people wouldnt notice and that are hard to see, these are the things that can improve art work by quick fixes. Some more things you can look for when giving somebody C/C are; Colors, Line, Form, Tone. When giving C/C remeber to not try C/C them on personal oppinion things such as a colour theme (unless it's ralivent) 4. In you're C/C if there is a technical or hard to explain issue in you're C/C use a quick exmaple or thumbnail, this way the artist will better understand the problem 5. Post your reply, then check back for replys on you're C/C from time to time. Now you have sucsessfully giving some useful C/C! :) Whats the point in this tutorial? The reason I decided to post this tutorial is because it will help artists receive much better feedback on their work alowing them to improve alot due to learning to things, in the long run there is only improvement from effective C/C :).
  2. its not easy to do an elbow up close, and i dont mind it doesnt look like what its meant to because im just practising trying to get it right, maybe you can show me how to do an elbow up close, by making an example? edit: btw i know very well at what im making considering all ive been doing lately is studying how to draw an arm on paper... its just putting it into pixel that is a challenge.
  3. my reference was my mind, what are you trying to say?
  4. Humm, yeah those little ones... ~komodo well i supose now that i look at some skin colour i do relise that its a bit on the light side :) ty
  5. damn right you should come back :) i wanna see where you're paintings are at now :) but about the money part and selling sigs, i beleive its true u shouldnt make art for just money but honestly i thought it was good in a way, like even after i quit RS i was still selling sigs for rs money just to get a feeling for howmuch your sig is worth and what people with give for it, to me this is unlike a rating and its somthing better (btw i use to give the money to my old mates on rs  ), although i dont think people should leave the forums because of this.. anyway hope to see you again tttia :)
  6. Yeah! Agreed. Since you dont like just "Good Works" I'll say somethings... The first 2 are ok, the third, you need a new border, that white one doenst really goes with it, also the text is too big for the font, too "pixelated" so its not good for it. For the pixel, the shading is too bright, that muscle looks like a bread! Its this :D ~komodo Bread?!
  7. i think 1stly you should work a little more on youre cropping and get rid of the nasty edges on ur images to sharpen the image up :) edit: and i dunno if u did change the levels or brightness of the render but parts of your spiderman mainly look washed out?..
  8. thankyou for ur thoughts :)
  9. hmmm that might be due to me beveling them... normally i dont bevel things but i thought it might give it a more 3d look for the ladies  but i will see what it looks like unbeveled and post it :)
  10. thanks for you're C/C but alot of things u said were wrong, 1stly, its not a typical abstract, its acually diffrent to the general stereotype of an abract sig, 2ndly if youre eyes hurt from looking at a semi fluro pink, why change it to a fluro green? it will melt ur eyes and u will go blind, and green would hardly suit the girls  and personally i think black for a background with my sig would look horrible. [/rant] p.s no im not a ratings person.
  11. edit: ok the point of this thread is to show you my experimental kind of sigs, as im trying new things and new techniques so all my sigs dont look the same :) (and i want C/C on it) #1 non-beveled version #2 #3 (pixel shading practise) C/C and thoughts plz.
  12. I pixel much better than I draw. Honestly, the anatomy of his pixels is about as good as the anatomy of my drawings :? . lol. thats exacly my point. learn to draw anatomy on paper better and you're anatomy on pixel sigs will skyrocket :) edit: and lets face it.. its easier to learn to shade and learn anatomy on paper with a pencil than it is with pixel after agonising pixel :P OK you both seem to have misunderstood me. I suck wagon( dude.... please listen... the greater ur drawing skills the greater your pixeling skills... look at all great pixel artists... MxM, Godslayer, TJ... they all are very good at drawing and all have their strengths in their drawing which is also evident in their pixeling... your drawing skills may suck but if u practise and get good your skills in pixeling will get alot greater.
  13. I pixel much better than I draw. Honestly, the anatomy of his pixels is about as good as the anatomy of my drawings :? . lol. thats exacly my point. learn to draw anatomy on paper better and you're anatomy on pixel sigs will skyrocket :) edit: and lets face it.. its easier to learn to shade and learn anatomy on paper with a pencil than it is with pixel after agonising pixel :P
  14. its not the crap posts like "omfgz 1st sig EVA tOOk me 3 mins!!" that anoy me, just because there new to art it doesnt mean theyre not alowed to post, its just crappy C/C lately probably mainly due to the lack of good artists on the forum atm.. btw look at woopidoo2's link for a PERFECT example... i mean holy crap... "omgz i rate it 9/10 good work".... "Wow now i know exacly what to improve on thankz!", it just doesnt make for a good community.. :(
  15. learn to draw good before you start pixeling trust me :) your people will look alot better. start there... sorry for lack of C/C but my finers are cold >
  16. is it just me or has 'the gallery' gone down hill? - ever since the illegalizing of selling sigs alot of the good artists have left. - its rare that people give good C/C, other than select few good artsists. - the moderation is very strict (no offence cuz i <3 u mods  ). - the artists seem to generally be getting lazier and lazier (not everyone). - we dont even have signatures now (i KNOW this is only temp) - lack of interesting posts/art FIN. *I play WoW and have 210 FR, so flame away I will just resist then turn on retaliation and "omfgbbqhaxpwn" you* edit: If you happen to have a solution or a comment to any of these problems just post. Thanks
  17. that takes longer than 15 mins nuff said. (stop exadurating)
  18. why discuss? Is this a ''nooby'' action? nah just bcuz.
  19. WOW now he knows exacly what to improve on... great C/C ... anyway you need to focus more on the sunlight, your diffusing looks fine as far as i can tell but start off by choosing 3 shades, a shadow tone, a mid tone, and a highlight tone... after doing this now u can work on the shading firstly pick of the light source, being a sun, light or whatever... but make sure its the same source of light throughout ur whole image... now shade your image according to the light source.. here is a quick diagram i made to help u understand: now with that diagram, the top circle is how u need to shade according to your light source and the bottom one is how you've shaded it im not saying the shading you have done on your helemet is not possible to gain from a shadow but its very unlikely with a circular object.. so then basicly shade with ur 3 tones to make up your shading.. now depending on your style after doing this u may want to diffuse your shading to smooth up your shading a little...... although u havent struggled that much with diffusing your shading imo. anyway, to build on what ive said check out punkage's pixel tutorial, it has some neat shading things... read the circle bit.. it will go into more depth than i did. anyway GL with your shading and i hope that helped :)
  20. You killed the gradient tool on 'diffrence' setting. Discuss.
  21. DaFONT ftw! Ditto 2x :D i know thats what everyone uses by default but my personal preferance is downloadfreefonts.com
  22. doesnt look too bad perhaps just change teh background as everyone else said.. maybe ust a white-ish-grey 'grainy' backround with a black gradient coming from the top right or somthing would like nice :) u might also want a better suiting font imo :) try: http://www.downloadfreefonts.com/fontfiles/afonts.htm
  23. well this one has a nelf in it and nelfs are from wow and i play wow... so 10/10 for that one :P.. nah lol anyway i think u need to add some light to ur sigs and less render.. like its ok to have some renders in ur sig but not so they take up the whole sig? =/ (imo) they look nice though :)
  24. omgawd do u play WoW?!
