considering that each player only experiences the drop once (well, per account), i'm not really sure if it's actually boring, or just theoretically boring on the part of people who get mad at things that aren't directly affecting them

Update [2-2-15] Demon Flash Mobs – New Rewards and Rebalancing
strilmus replied to Leik's topic in General Discussion
most of the pk happens because somebody tricks somebody else into thinking that they're joining a friendly team and then backstabs them so, i guess it's great that runescape is promoting being a huge [wagon] for minimal gains again? -
on the whole, i think the dynamics of gear value versus risk have changed a bit since back in the "good ol days" and i'm not sure if it really applies anymore besides being a sort of shoehorned in way of reliving something that will never be the same, like every other nostalgic thing that people in this game cling to in the hopes that time will reverse itself

They were already going to be losing all of those items on death; adding the option of buying your stuff back doesn't cost them anything more. Not necessarily; remember if they get back to their grave they could reclaim it all...with this proposal that option would be gone completely and only the option to buy it back for part of the value would be available. Then leave current gravestones in and have people buy their stuff back only once the timer runs out. this was pretty much the next suggestion i would have, but they would probably complain for years about it and change the cost to exorbitant

Update [2-2-15] Demon Flash Mobs – New Rewards and Rebalancing

they never expected the demon mob hunting fc to be so terrifying -
yeah, but that would involve going back to the spot, tapping the grave, and then going back to death to retrieve your items i was considering a "death insurance" type of thing where you could take out a short term protection policy with death for a cost based on your combat level that would only work before you died

yes, but with a different intent, which isn't as destructive to the game as the current proposed idea for signs of respite are just garbage (why would you even create them if they're the same [bleep]ing value as the ingredients, when you can just carry the ingredients), I think they should also offer percentage based discounts (like, 1% and 2%)
-
*raises arm* so, if I'm reading this right, will it be possible to just carry mass quantities of noted junk as death insurance?

yeah, during revo, the server is basically following its own commands, and if your computer isn't signalling fast enough due to lag it'll just completely ignore you -
High Level Players Comp - Statement of Intent
strilmus replied to Miss Lioness's topic in General Discussion
summarization: they recognize that they need to pull their shit together, but will they do it? should we be supporting them while they twiddle their thumbs for another whole year? to me, runelabs already tells me the answer, and the answer is "we don't know what to do anymore, so it's the year of the player forever" we need the year of the developer who plans, executes, and refines when that iron is hot, not after it's gone cold and dusty and nobody cares anymore not halfassed projects that are badly implemented, slightly tweaked to be as least offensive or able to do anything at all lest it creates an issue that they would have to put off because of their asinine development scheduling and the player always takes the consequences, whether it be in money, time, responsibility for crucial features that are chosen almost at random, or abject disappointment/despair "hey, how about we make this feature that bandaids our poorly made or outdated choices regarding this particular aspect of the game, which will buy us more time to keep spinning our wheels in the hopes that the second coming will happen before people realize that we're out of people that know how to build complete, working games instead of a sprawling mass" to be fair, this is an endemic problem in MMOs i would just like, for once, that the decision isn't to keep putting off the decision i don't need to pretend that this is just about the comp cape, do i the crux of the matter is that if they can't decide to do what needs to be done because they want to string us all along, how do we trust them with any decision to begin with -

No. It works like the kraken whip from old school. You get the hilt (tentacle, or wildywyrm drop) You put the main weal (whip, dark bow, or SOL) on it When it uses all of its charges, you are left with the hilt Or, you can use the weapons to add charges to it.. I think they said 20% charge per item. So it is effectively the same as hydrix, MINUS the degrade to dust. Basically instead of rubbing money on it to make it charged, you feed it whips/dbow/sols. It isn't a gold sink, its an item sink. i meant in that the initial listing for those items had the staff of darkness not degrade at all -

oh, so they just made ALL of them degrade to dust? i thought only some of them would degrade. http://[Use Quick Find Code]/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?373,374,932,65550405 here's the info for wyrmin -
If that idea gets voted up enough, wouldn't it disprove itself, or something
-
does anybody use any of the other potato recipes at all besides drops of those foods from monsters
-
they tried with barbarian potions, but they keep getting all "well, if we make these TOO good we could destroy the game ohhhhh nooooo" so because they're afraid of having to take back a bad decision (or maybe afraid that they're not going to do it fast enough??? lots of issues juggling here), we won't really get that many food/pot combination effects even these fish are just level 80 i mostly dislike food prep with items that can accidentally be consumed and prep in general that requires like triple inventory slots for making one item, when the process could easily be replicated by just requiring different prep stations, such as a kitchen in a house or something

not sure if vorago is taking a side as much as this is his specific job and that he's unaligned
-
no, that would be the random fish fugu kebab yourself to death
-
random fish is basically another kebab, which i don't care for now i wish they could just mix three of the categories together and pitch out all of the useless fish in those categories from their idea pool like, from what we got with the combination potions, half of those are dumb and nobody ever uses them
-
also, death lotus darts use scrimshaw material, which is already losing a lot of money, and they can't be "repaired" like the other weapons, so it works out in pros and cons, i think
