  1. Ya'll need to listen to Scanner! Or at least this song. The rest of the album is pretty alright, but this song is ace. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhCg0Lc9CUw Also, Angel Witch name drop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5YXekq3rBY
  2. I'd put that one down to people disliking the idea of one nation having power over a global resource. @tortillachp: Yeah, data centres that can move out of the US probably will. What about those that can't? I admit I know nothing about how the internet works, but if "most of the core infrastructure" is in the US, and they have the power to shut it down, it seems like they really could affect other nations' access to the internet. Supposing you are right though, it's a pointless run-around that ultimately just wastes a lot of time and money because the US government can't handle not having everything under their thumb.
  3. How bout a nice belt buckle?
  4. You're right, I just misread the first sentence. The benefit would be to stop "cyber terrorists" from using the internet to "compromise security". I'm not really sure what that would entail, but that's the gist I get from it. That's what I thought at first, but then I read this so I guess it's not so much a literal killswitch as it is a "crippleswitch". @OldJoe: I guess that's just the way of the world these days. Censorship seems to be happening everywhere cause of all this terrorist panic [cabbage].
  5. Obama Lieberman certainly seems to think so. [hide] [/hide] Do you think this is justified? I mean, I certainly wouldn't want cyber warriors to attack me, but since they want this to "protect" themselves, I think that should the US pass this bill, every country should have a similar switch - it's not fair that the US is the only country able to protect itself from cyber warriors. Also, wouldn't it be funny if Obama said "Killswitch, engage!" when he pressed it? I think it would. But honestly, who didn't see something like this coming? It's not like Obama's terribly different from any other president.
  6. Eh, I think the man has a point.
  7. Do you mean to say you hate all metal cause of the voclas? If you do, no offense, but that's pretty stupid. What kind of vocals do you like? Maybe we can find you some metal you can enjoy :)
  8. OP, since you like prog and power I recommend to you Fates Warning and Adramelch. Irae Melanox might be the best album you will ever hear. Also, Slauter Xstroyes are really cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkvqrCGuS10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHTKMJjZ-X8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3bUOgnd7lg

You can hear sound? That's amazing.
  10. There are no sources for this, so take it with a grain of salt, but if you read the May 15th entry... http://rateyourmusic.com/lists/list_view?list_id=139278&show=25&start=0 Pretty scary stuff.
  11. I disagree. Over analysing can definitely hurt you. A whole lot. Yes, over analysing can definitely hurt, especially when it borders on obsession, so I suppose my language was a bit off. But people certainly need to analyse their problems to see where the root of the problem lies.

You wont "trip balls" but weed can cause visual and aural disturbances that can be described as a "trip". For example, sometimes I can see the outline of a face on the back of my eyelids. Have you had much experience with weed? I don't mean to attack you, I'm just genuinely curious.
  13. No, it's so much more than that. It's like all this tension has just built up due to all my negativity, and has released itself. It's really hard to qualify with words, but that's the closest I can get. Yeah, it does just happen. It's just so amazing how something like this can just happen. Yeah, that's pretty much it. I think more people need to realise this, especially people suffering from depression. It's a difficult thing to come to terms with, but it's an amazing release. Far better than any medication, in my opinion. I'm not too familiar with Camus, but The Myth of Sisyphus is certainly very interesting, something I will be reading in the future. And yes, that quote is very interesting. I will definitely be reading that too, thank you for those two. Exactly! So many people are caught up in their problems without actually analysing their problems. The more you reflect, the more you understand, and the more you understand, the closer you are to an amazing revelation, or epipany, or even a life changing experience. At least that's what I think.
  14. I would like to share a life changing experience I have had with all of you. I am not quite sure of the nature of what I experienced just yet, but I'm sure that understanding will come with time. I have been somewhat "depressed" for the past few weeks, perhaps even months; it's difficult to pinpoint the exact moment I began to feel this way, if indeed an exact moment exists. I have not been to a doctor about it, nor do I feel I need to anymore. I do not claim to be depressed, although I did have certain symptoms characteristic of clinical depression. I was moody, by turns angry and melancholic, but never truly happy. My body was hungry, but I wasn't. Reality became mundane, and I felt tired of everything. It seemed as if I viewed everything through a slightly dirty lens. Today, however, I had a "moment of clarity", if you will. I was attending a lecture at my university, lost in my own thoughts, and everything became clear . It seemed as if someone had wiped clean my lens and I could see what was there. This was not life changing, but perhaps it was a precursor to what was to be. It was a few days ago that I stumbled upon the above quote. It intrigued me; how could I live without "I"? I thought I understood then, but I was wrong. I understand now, however. It is not something I can explain with words; it is only something you can feel. My life changing experience occured when I was lying in bed listening to "Irae Melanox" by Adramelch (an album I could not possibly recommend more). I have always found music to be incredibly cathartic, and it was for this reason I was listening to this album. While I was listening, all the negativity in and around me coalesced into a ball in my mind, and when all had become one, I thought "Who is the "I" that cannot live with the self? Who is the "I" that cannot live with the self? Who is the "I" that cannot live with the self?" And it disappeared. I suppose this is what is meant by a cognitive shift (although I may be wrong); I had experienced similar things before, where I suddenly and without reason simply felt different (in the context of feelings), but never something quite like this. I am hesitant to say I experienced ego death, but I would certainly not rule it out. In this I have had a revelation. It is not one I can qualify with words; it is simply an understanding. I feel as if all my negativity has ceased to be, and I am at peace. Others can still infuriate me (like my mother), but that is their negativity that cannot hope to truly touch my mind. But who knows? Perhaps I will wake tomorrow and not want to get out of bed, but that seems unlikely :) So, hate/relate/congratulate. This is something everyone should experience.
  15. You can buy the apple earphones from the apple store, I think they have several varieties you can choose from here. I think hawkxs is right when she says Apple is the only company with earphones like that, but there is this adapter which I think has all the same functions. Now, as to actual earphones...screw your Sennheisers and straight rep VSonic. Australian link though, sorry, couldn't find any UK links.
  16. Yep, tried Windows 7 and XP.
  17. i know this 15 year old that sells some really good [cabbage] bro. he got purps / white widdo / sour d / u name it he got it , or he can get it. Hah, that's the problem with Australia, I don't think we even have named strains. [wagon] ruin everything.
  18. I'd rather buy good weed from a store than [cabbage]ty weed from a dealer.
  19. Thanks for the reply, but I don't use AVG.
  20. Hi, I have two different questions. 1. Say I have a class c network that has one router, one network switch and several computers. Their addresses would follow the format of something like 207.155.34.X, yes? Or no? 2. I have an external hard drive without a plugged power source, formatted FAT32, and my internal hdd (WD Caviar Black 1TB) is NTFS. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. There are some files on the external that I can't copy over, like several videos and a 2.6gb .zip file. The error message I get says "Cannot read from the source file or disk" and it gives me the options to retry, skip or cancel. It's a problem with the external hdd because it does this with every computer I've tried it on. I tried unzipping the zip file, but I get an error that the "archive is either an unknown format or damaged". How can I fix this?

Not all drug users use drugs to escape reality. Much like not all people who play video games play video games to escape reality. Some of them (and I know this may come as a shock, but it's actually true! I swear!) simply use drugs because it is an enjoyable experience. Much like video games are.

@ Paw_Claw: Yeah...if you look it up you'll find that you're wrong. Also, that chart is only 3 years old...hardly outdated. Besides, you're comparing one effect of LSD and Steroids to nothing from alcohol or tobacco. Honestly, you seem very biased and unwilling to consider the other side of the argument.

Except the fact tht virtually every other drug out there has been proven that use in a recreational manner causes worse damage to the body than cigarettes or alcohol. Weed is the only one proven to be less harmful, therefore to me it is ridiculous that it should be illegal when other more dangerous substances are not. What?
  25. Ss_J9_Goten replied to deathdrow's topic in Off-Topic
The point of drugs is to have fun...same as the point of video games, which I note are costly and "pointless" in the same sense that drugs are pointless. I'm not bashing you or anything, and I really don't care that you don't want to try drugs, but it irks me to no end when people can't understand the simple fact that some people just want to have fun.
