    Sarah Palin

No, I have to bite my tongue when speaking about this woman without coming off as sexist, but she is truly a [bleep]. She insulted Obama's experience as a community organizer, and I take EXTREME offense to this because while I go to school, I am a community organizer and it's A LOT of work. Does this woman not realize that community organizers are to thank for the Civil Rights Movement, the Peace Corps, Hurricane and natural disaster relief, blood drives, volunteer firefighters....the lists just go on and on and on. Oh, Sarah Palin, you wouldn't have the right to vote, much less be appointed to the VP candidacy, without community organizers. This woman is a [bleep]ING disgrace! Oh, Hello Mrs. Palin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOBWZ7Jocc8
  2. First off Exxon John, this is a lie in and of itself. Those who have insurance now could keep the coverage they have, it's not "universal". Furthermore, speaking of putting a bureaucrat between you and your doctor, isn't that what you want to do with banning abortions?

I hate American politics with all of these damn non-issues...jesus christ. "John McCain how many houses do you own?" WHO CARES! Do I get health care after I find out? Do my friends come home from Iraq? "Barack Obama used drugs when he was a youngster." Yeah? And? So do I, and so do many other people. I mean I haven't done coke, but I can't say I wouldn't try it once if it was offered by someone I knew and trusted. *sigh* I can't let that religious zealot get near that White House...my parents are evangelicals and she's even worse than they are. Although, they abhor abortion even in cases of incest and rape. What's NOT a "non-issue" is that Wasilla High School was named a "drop out factory" by John Hopkins University, in 2006, the year after Palin left to be Governor. Before any spin about this, don't say "Hey it was good while she was there!" This tells me she and her PTA/Mayoral experience didn't do anything for their own high school that had one of the highest drop out rates in the country. 58% of students who went and attended from freshmen to senior graduated. edit: Palin refuses to talk to the media:

Evidence? No? I'm a member of the Students for Sensible Drug Policy, but I don't put my name on ANYTHING for fear of jobs getting a hold of it when they look me up.

It doesn't seem that strange to me that a *sitting Governor* of a state would welcome the convention or whatever it was of a prominent political party of that state. :wall: I am neither making a stretch here nor overstating the case. Sarah Palin was a proud member of the AIP before she began her disastrous term as mayor. Todd Palin is also a member of the AIP. The founder of the AIP died in a failed attempt to buy plastic explosives. Sarah Palin has documented ties with the AIP as recently as 2008, and you refuse to provide any evidence that her video appearance at their convention was anything less than extraordinary. How about this: you say that Palin addressed the AIP convention only as a governor. If that's the case, then it seems to me that she's addressed the two larger party conventions as governor, too. If you can find evidence that Palin addressed the Democrats, then I'll back off. If you can't find evidence that Palin addressed the Democrats, but you can prove that she addressed the Republicans, that shows that she addressed parties she favored. If you can't find evidence that Palin addressed any party convention other than the AIP, then you're in hot water. http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/arc ... _party.php

Hey Peggy Noonan, that's not nice  Btw Jack, I still don't buy that she wasn't a member (or at the very least doesn't support what they stand for) when she addresses the Party:

I am not discussing with you why Creationism doesn't belong in the classroom, I haven't the energy. Maybe Warri0r has the energy, or Ginger. I certainly do not.

Freedom of speech? Are you NUTS?!?!? Let's just let them teach kids the world is flat in schools...it's the opposing theory. Freedom of speech?

Yes it was...she was actively involved, and her husband was a member until 2002.

The spin....it hurts. This interview caused John McCain to withdraw from an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer because Campbell Brown went "too far".

Ginger, she wasn't even in the running for VP until 5 days before announcement. She was vetted by the team for 1 day, had a 15 minute interview with McCain, and was chosen immediately afterwards. Oh, hello Pope Palin:

I always looked at Senator McCain just as a Joe Blow public member, looking from the outside in, she said. Hes been buttin heads with Republicans for years, and thats a healthy place to be. Then again, on McCains signature issuethe prosecution of the war in Iraqshe did not sound so gung-[garden tool]. Her son is a soldier, and she said, Im a mom, and my son is going to get deployed in September, and we better have a real clear plan for this war. And it better not have to do with oil and dependence on foreign energy. Just keep your mouth running Mrs. Palin.
  13. That would've been more political suicide than choosing Palin. At this present time I would be inclined to agree with you, but the fact that she was vetted one day before being chosen could prove that she was a worse choice. Both say wonders about his judgment in appointing executive positions ;)
  14. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/02/us/po ... ref=slogin Lieberman was his first choice.
  15. Was there any need for that comment? Yes, because he is a bigot. It also undermines all of his post, and I see no reason to further respond to anything he says.
  16. Sooo, experience doesn't matter if there's proper judgement, but experience improves judgement...? :s It can, that's what it SHOULD do...but even the most experienced have lapses in judgment ([bleep] Cheney), and now more importantly, John Russia Should Be Booted From The G8 McCain. Oh, so Sarah Palin is a member of the Alaskan Independence Party. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaskan_Independence_Party Now I must ask this sarcastic question: Does Sarah Palin love America as much as Jeramiah Wright?
  17. Please, it was the biggest pander he could possibly make. Why would he pick her over Governor Huckabee who has a ton more experience than she does ("executive"), riles up the Conservative base, is MUCH more well known, and isn't a Washington Insider? Or what of Mitt Romney? He came in second place, is "good with the economy" (not like I believe that, but it would be his talking point), would secure Florida, make Michigan competitive, has Governor and CEO experience... Why did he pick her? Because she does what Huckabee does, plus has a chance at nabbing women voters because of her plumbing. He's also been twisting the experience line around too. Whenever people call her out on it, he says "experience doesn't make that much of a difference, I am confident in her judgment and ability." Whenever people call Obama out on it, it's "He is not experience enough to do this job!" It's a blatant hypocrisy and it was obviously a pander pick. A lot of women are pissed off to hell with it, too. Erm...so you say he's a politician, and then act like he's not...I don't get it. By the way, he did not flip-flop on Public Financing, or the war. Decriminalization on marijuana I will give you. Public financing he said he would pursue McCain about it and try and reach an agreement. He also said he would seek to change the ways that campaigns were funding. Technically, he just flipped Public Financing on its side because of how well he changed campaign financing. The war he has always said "We need to be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in." Over, and over, and over. I still concede that he's a politician, because um....he's a politician? Anyway, onto this "experience argument". I have said time and time again: Experience does not matter if the proper judgment is executed. That is what experience does: it molds character and develops the person with insight and knowledge to execute proper judgment. Now if you want to go onto the experience argument, let's go there. Obama's executive experience far exceeds anything Palin could even hope to dream of. Has anyone forgotten that he has been campaigning LONGER than Palin has been Governor? I mean, I don't know about you, but the term "managing a campaign" kind of has the hint that you need to know how to MANAGE your campaign. He faced the Clintons, quite possibly the best campaigners in the history of politics, one of which was a PREVIOUS President who no doubt had a lot of influence in how the campaign was managed, and yet...Obama beats them. I mean...give me a [bleep]ing break. Executive Experience... edit: Oh look what I found: http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Arc ... l=GooglePM

Your offended by under God? No, but it's amusing that she thinks it's been there since the Founding Fathers and that's what her rationale was. edit: Oh, and so much for her views on sexual education. She can't even educate her own daughter: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080901/pl_ ... s_palin_dc

"3. Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit sex-education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools? SP: Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support." "10. Do you support the Alaska Supreme Courts ruling that spousal benefits for state employees should be given to same-sex couples? Why or why not? SP: No, I believe spousal benefits are reserved for married citizens as defined in our Constitution." " 11. Are you offended by the phrase Under God in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not? Sarah Palin: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and Ill fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance." Erm.... :? Although she was referring to Alaska's constitution with the same-sex thing, she's totally wrong about the pledge, and her views on sexual education are just plain scary.
  20. I don't support lowering the drinking age to 18 simply because of our culture. Compare the number of alcohol-related fatalities and crimes in the United States among 16-24 year olds with, say, Switzerland, where the legal drinking age for wine and beer is 16, and you may see that the problem isn't perhaps with alcohol but with the way our culture treats alcohol. And good, I mean really good, wine and beer there cost a fraction of what they do in the United States. Change the culture. This is what I always end up saying about everything. We run around trying to fix all these little fringe issues all the time - it's like a doctor treating a cancer patient's pain and night sweats but refusing to actually do anything about the cancer. We're going about this in the wrong way, just like we are with gun bans. The problem is the culture...

    Taxation

When it comes to my opening statement about taxes, yes, it is something I have written previously. Define: polity: a politically organized unit Polity is a word, if that's what you were referring to. I welcome illegal immigration as a key part of American society, but would also like immigration reform to take place. It'd be nice if there was a North American Union taking place that a lot of "troofers" are spewing. NAFTA has its good points and its bad points, but overall I support "fair" trade and not "free" trade.

    Taxation

It's always interesting to me to see how Americans refer to European socialist policies as being somehow evil. Certainly in Europe, there are rich and poor but the MAJORITY of people have a higher quality of life. Why? Because taxes have paid for efficient transport to and from work, because taxes have paid for health care systems were all citizens can access care, because taxes have paid for schools where people are not graduating en masse being illiterate. In case most Americans have not noticed, the US is moving towards a society like Mexico. If you are rich, you live in enclaves behind walls and have access to great health care and schools. If you are middle class, you struggle like hell just to stay afloat. And if you are poor, you are excluded from basic services. So when Americans are so against paying taxes, maybe they should think of living in a society like Mexico in the future. And how much of US taxes really go towards this "redistribution" that everyone fears? And how much goes to the war in Iraq, Social Security, and the interest on the public debt that Mr. Bush has helped to push to record levels? The funny thing about all of this debate is that the quintessential Republican policies of small government and low taxes have been promoted by Mr. Bush. What happened? The dollar fell, spending still continued at a brisk pace, the financial system is in turmoil, and most Americans are worse off than when Clinton was president. Why do Americans think taxes is a dirty word? I heard that the US is spending is about $10 billion a month on the war in Iraq. No problem, say the people. No problem, says the Congress. But when a $3 billion bill to ensure working class child reached the President's desk, he vetoed it because it was a waste of money. Hmmm. The US government nearly outspends the rest of the entire world on defense and no one says a word. But when a relatively small spending bill comes up that will provide vital services and improve the quality of life, the people are crying bloody murder. Would you rather spend a little money on American human beings that a lot of money of bombs? It's hard to see that Americans are not a war mongering people when you look at the American polity makes its spending priorities.
  23. *Sigh* It's like people ignore me, a person who is a campaign insider, and follow the media for how important PUMA and other anti-Obama groups actually are. Their support is so minuscule, stop letting the media play that narrative. Chuck Todd finally called the media out for it the other day. I volunteer regularly, I talk to Hillary insiders everyday, I know how much support these people have, and it's less than 300 members, with minimal financial support.
  24. Support. I don't know much about it, however, so I need to research it. I don't feel qualified to continue talking about this, as I know barely anything about it, except that it holds the key to secrets highly guarded.
