Precisely. Reagan's Ghost and the Republicans would argue that less regulation is the key to solving such a crisis. It just tickles me that we're almost forced into nationalizing these institutions rather than by choice. I think it will get better, but if your credit is bad or even remotely touching anything related to bad, you'll never own a house for a long time.

Hey, I'm ready for my taxes to be raised as a middle class citizen, but that would be political suicide in America. People here just don't understand that our taxes are incredibly low, and for what we do pay, we barely get any services. Obama and McCain both will inevitably raise the debt if they go through with their plans, McCain will raise it higher, though. The thing about America is, we need higher taxes AND we need to cut spending at the same time. Except...we really have virtually nothing to cut but our military...and no one is willing to pay higher taxes. Such a financially irresponsible country... The good thing is, we're great to invest in, so having a very high debt isn't THAT bad, but it should not be ignored. I still say it's a good thing though, Ginger: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article ... 68,00.html edit: "Obama, not McCain, shows steady hand in Crisis": http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid= ... r=politics

"It's kind of hard to tell the average American that we are going to continue to have foreclosures that destabilize neighborhoods and deprive cities of revenue they need, but we're going to buy up the bad paper," Frank said on CBS' "Face the Nation." Frank advocated higher taxes on people with income exceeding $1 million a year. And the idea that the deficit would force tax increases even made it across party lines. "When we add an additional trillion dollars to the debt, the burden of the taxpayer, sooner or later there's got to be a reckoning," Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., ranking member on the Senate Banking Committee, told "Face the Nation." "This is the mother of all bailouts." http://money.cnn.com/2008/09/21/news/ec ... /index.htm ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bi-Partisan support right here baby. edit: Why does Palin get shielded in the debates if she's ready to stand up to Putin or Chavez?

He didn't sell him out, he tried a reasoned approach the first time and the guy just went bonkers. This is real leadership: Let me guess, he's just not specific enough, right?

From April 2000, on CNN: http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITIC ... mccain.sc/ Excerpt: When asked by a reporter how he felt about the Confederate flag during a January 12 campaign event, McCain replied: "Personally, I see the flag as symbol of heritage." The Arizona senator expressed regret for that stance on Wednesday, telling the audience of Republicans: "I feared that if I answered honestly, I could not win the South Carolina primary. So I chose to compromise my principles." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So McCain, is the German inverted Swastika a form of German Heritage too? Jeez, if he's selling out on crap like this, what else will he sell out on, or has he sold out on already....and what about when he is in office?

Go Senator Bernie Sanders! The only socialist in the American Congress!

Hey look, Republicans trying to disenfranchise college voters: https://www7.hsmv.state.fl.us/VirtualOf ... /lobby.jsp It only affects voters who registered from the 8th of September and on, but it's ridiculous. Outright ridiculous. I wonder what happens if you don't have a voter registration card; not many people do. Perhaps a piece of mail will suffice :)

I'm not sure, I haven't looked into it much. The debates are coming up soon right? As long as it's not Harper though... That [wagon] clown is extraditing soldiers, and he's very much pro-war.
-
Wow, I give up. You're in Republican Loser Denial.
-
Well, obviously. I hope you don't take me for a fool :P. I'm saying that right now I see a whole lot of bad, and I cannot forsee anything good for the American citizens coming in the long run. 'Course not for the citizens, for the government. Which government? How could it possibly be good for our government? The war is costing us billions of dollars; how on Earth will this EVER be seen as a good thing? It's not even like we're making friends; the whole world hates us over this blunder. You're Iran. You're making threats at the U.S. So is your neighbor. OOPS. Your neighbor just got invaded. [garden tool]-hum, what to do, what to do. Iran is not a threat to the United States, and they never were.

The surge was the cause for the decrease in violence? Or was it Ethnic Cleansing? http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080919/sc_ ... _lights_dc I always knew that there were masses of people who were migrating in order to get away from the violence, but I wasn't aware that they were being forced to move and then killed if they didn't comply. edit 2: Of course this has been going on since 2007, and this is one reason I will never admit the surge has "worked".

That's subject to interpretation. I would say that you, Lieberman, and the vast majority of Republicans are "wrong".
-
False, Joe Lieberman is an independent. So? How does that show his party affiliation? Speaking of the Department of Homeland Security, I hope Obama gets rid of it. Not in 2009. Hagel, Ron Paul, and their like all go against the Republican party all of the time, especially for foreign policy. What are you talking about? Lieberman votes with the Democrats EXCEPT for foreign policy, so I'd say you're talking out of your [wagon] again.
-
Whom? Joe Lieberman (who technically isn't even a democrat anymore)? Lady Rothschild? lol
-
Chuck Hagel is about as right-wing as you can get: social conservative, low spending, small government, non-interventionism foreign policy. Oh, this tickled me:
-
No it didn't, it's making things worse. The government is just causing the value of the dollar to decline. Fueling inflation won't get them out of recession. Wow, if you agree with the libertarians that we should have just let those corporations die, you obviously know NOTHING about economics/global economics. Not only would the US's economy be spiraling out of control beyond our imagination, but the world would be facing very detrimental repercussions as well.

Sarah Palin's Email Hacked. McCain camp to investigate.
magekillr replied to Latinoking's topic in Off-Topic
My mom uses hotmail. These are not government emails, persay. These are informal messages from family, friends, and coworkers. Her public email address is just that. Someone with no life went out of their way to guess the password which like most Americans was very easy. My personal emails are obscenely easy. My professional email password is incredibly difficult. There have been numerous reports of her forwarding/cc/bcc her husband onto many emails relating to official Alaska business. So, um, that's wrong lol. She was conducting government business with this email, giving her husband information that he shouldn't have access to, and I find that extremely disturbing. It's not like Americans will care though. -

Well, based on her assertions about foreign policy and knowledge of the Bush Doctrine, which were espoused during her interview with Charlie Gibson, and based on the fact that I know she was forced to memorize talking points without any analysis of her own, I would have to disagree with you. -

Why would anyone who uses an email for something this important be using Yahoo? -
Oh look, Washington Mutual was at $42.00 a share this time last year. Now they're at $2.00 a share, and the company is up for sale to the highest bidder: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26744628/ They're dropping like flies, and it's the Administration's fault for not stopping predatory lending and hedge funds.

Thank God. They're the largest insurer in the country. If the government stood by and let these companies fall like dominoes we'd be going into a depression very soon. If they intervened from the get-go, these problems could be avoided... The sad thing is they've been watching the housing market decline for over a year now. Barack Obama tried passing legislation in 2006 to avoid it, or at least combat it.

Anti drug programs - Complete waste of money?
magekillr replied to Kill_Thomas9's topic in Off-Topic
How about back in 30's or 40's when marijuana had been around and sold as a medicines for a long time, and suddenly it was a terrible drug that causes death, insanity, etc? Same thing, right? Why not just reverse it, educate people about the positives and negatives of it, and see how society deals with it. Personally, I'd love to just sit back and watch how our culture would change if marijuana was legalized. I wouldn't. It would go for the worse, just like lowering the drinking age to 18 is a horrible idea. -
You said it was around $16,000 USD for the 6 months yes? That's so cheap, and I will definitely look into it :D
