  1. It's not an old quote. He said it today or yesterday. Even if it was an old quote, it was in this season when the economy was NOT strong. You want to go to war, and right-wing conservatives are pretty stupid, redneck, and homophobic. I can't stand social conservatives. That fits the same mold as the racism. I disagree with fiscal conservatives, but it's not the disdain I have for the social ones.
  2. Well, by the mere definition of self-righteousness, I would say I fit the mold. Let's take racism for example. I am extremely intolerant of racism, and racial slurs. This would make my "morals" more important, in my opinion, than said racist's. I have no problem with you claiming I think I'm better than other people, because by the definition of "self-righteousness", I believe it fits under certain circumstances. Oh: [hide=] [/hide] "The fundamentals of our economy are still strong!" --John McCain
  3. With all due respect, I don't think a black person would ever be elected to this sort of position of power in Europe. In my opinion, there is more racism in Europe, but it's a different type. It's not the flat out hatred like it is here, but I think it's more rampant. Anyway, do you happen to have a link to that story that Newsnight did? I think what it proves is that America is so damn Conservative and backwards about everything that they're willing to just stay the course. The reason people are voting for McCain is not because of his record, not because of his plans, not even because they like what George Bush did...they're voting for him simply because he's from the majority party that is Conservative. They're so afraid of liberals and any form of taxation, even if it will benefit them, that they will vote against it....no matter what their situation is. It doesn't make any sense, but that's what it is. If you'd like to help, please register American voters abroad in the UK. Voter Registration deadlines are like 2 weeks away. Yesterday when I went to register voters and canvass supporters, the people who said they would not vote for Obama simply said, "I'm conservative." Although yesterday gave me much better hopes about my state (Virginia). I go to a moderate/conservative University, and I registered 1 new voter, and spoke with 200 people. I would say around 65-70% were for Obama, 10-15% were for McCain, and 15-20% were undecided. The undecided's didn't really have any issues that rung to them...they just said "We're waiting for the debates." I spoke to more than just students, it was an apartment complex. The professional housing area seemed to fit Obama better too. edit: Oh, and I was working with a Hillary supporter too. It was jolly good fun. 11% of Democrats voted for George Bush in 2004, and I would predict that 10-15% would vote for McCain in 2008. There is no rift between Hillary supporters and the rest of the party, it's the same number as usual. Just trying to make that as clear as possible :
  4. It's going to be spun somehow in favor of McCain...somehow. I don't trust Rove, and I don't trust Murdoch.
  5. I normally do not support bail outs, but this is the one time that I do (oh, and for airlines). Another thing that's annoying is if the government had gotten involved to begin with, this mess wouldn't have happened.
  6. FYI, it was for the National Anthem. Why is that not understandable? I wouldn't object to children who do not wish to participate in reciting the pledge of allegiance in school either. It's a ridiculous implementation to begin with.
  7. I'll be short and sweet. Are they currently a complete waste of money, and quite possibly more damaging? Yes, I whole heartedly would agree. Is any anti-drug program a complete waste of money? Absolutely not. Educate people, don't treat it like taboo, and that it doesn't exist unless you're a criminal, and tell people the truth. Until the truth is widespread, people are aware of the benefits, and set backs vs. false propaganda, I do not support legalization. That said, I don't suppose I'd support legalization in my lifetime (in America). You can't go from almost a century of scare tactics and lies to saying "We [bleep]ed up, so now it's legal." Slow process, change the culture, and move on. Until then, work for progression in a more progressive way rather than stampeding about complaining it isn't fair that it's illegal. You're not helping your cause.
  8. Being a Christian is a choice. Of course I would still support their decision that they make in their own bedroom.
  9. Yes because that's DEFINITELY what I said.
  10. You've not seen the commercials? "CELEBRATE HOMOSEXUALITY" or using characters like spongebob to promote homosexuality in children (we are family organization). And then there's the people that try to promote homosexuality to make money off of it. as said before, despicable. I just spent like 15 minutes trying to track down that organization and the video and after I read this article, it seems to me like an overly conservative Christian group is just bored and needs a hobby to fill their time. After I watched the video, I realized I was right. There was about 2 seconds of SpongeBob, and one probably wouldn't even notice him if they weren't looking. And I was searching for some kind of hidden message to turn kids gay, but I didn't find one. TBH, I think the only "despicable" one here is you. Are they freaking insane? What the hell is wrong with that video? Are these people THAT uncomfortable with their sexuality that they can't embrace and hug and love other members of the human family without feeling that they might be "gay"?

And then there's the people that try to promote homosexuality to make money off of it. as said before, despicable. Not where I'm from. But that does sound over the top. I don't know what he's talking about, at all. I've been to gay parades, and I am a member of the LGBT too, and I have yet to see any of this. Methinks his homophobia is showing.
  12. Yes, I lift 5-6 days a week, but I do backpack pushups, Swiss ball push ups, and light weights with A LOT of reps. It's much slower, but I like the results better. By low weights, I mean I use 10 lb hand weights and those band thingies to add a little bit of resistance. I'm sore initially, but after like 2-3 hours, it goes away. You need cardio rarex...I'm sorry lol.

  14. A will? It's not going anywhere, but it's my opinion on the matter.
  15. You tell them the truth: that some people are homosexuals by nature, and not choice.
  16. You mean like the Christians who try and turn gay people straight as if they need a cure? You're disgusting.

  18. I think we should just abolish marriage altogether. It's an outdated ritual that serves no purpose.

Exactly Ginger. When I first heard that we were pushing for Georgia to join NATO, it spoke to me as "Let's get Georgia to join NATO in hopes that Russia will invade or attack, giving us a means to attack Russia." Or if not attack, at least attempt to bully them. We wouldn't necessarily be "obliged" to send aide unless Georgia asked for it, but as far as I'm concerned, no military alliance is worth WWIII without assessing the situation before hand. Again: military alliances should NEVER be greater than common sense. Just because someone in your restaurant complains about one of the waiter's job, doesn't mean you go "Oh, hey, you're fired." You speak to them and assess the situation. More than half the time, the waiter was in the right.

Except...Georgia did the attacks, Russia did not, making it a completely different situation. Also, those ethnic Germans didn't pay taxes to Germany just because they were of German ethnicity. *Sigh to your statement about her positioning on Iraq* I give up.

How is he right? The two are not comparable whatsoever except that one country invaded another. Very few people are possibly going to be Vice President of the United States #-o  (That's not what your sentence says though, your sentence says that many people know what it is, but I know what you meant). I mean... :wall:

Did Poland pay taxes to Germany, while another neighboring country attacked them, leaving Germany to retaliate in protection of their Polish ally? Horrible comparison. Not only that, but Germany faked those "attacks", Russia did not. It would almost seem as though we'd like Georgia and other neighboring countries to Russia to be in NATO for a reason to use Article 5 as a means to attack them as well. I'm not calling alliances a bad thing, but when they overrule common sense and proper assessment of a situation, then they're up for criticism. Oh, and I did watch the interview, and she doesn't know what the Bush Doctrine is. To me, that's foreign relations in the US 101.

Yes, yes they were. Disproportionate amount of force? Yes, but justified. Military alliances shouldn't overrule common sense, ever, ever, ever. Entanglement with alliances is what caused WWI.

Why should we help our allies when Russia's attacks, while over-zealous, were justified? Especially when we're already involved in 2 wars, with a currently insurmountable amount of debt? That's NATO's job to intervene if anyone intervenes at all, not the US's. edit: and I'm perfectly aware of Article 5.

Alright, can we PLEASE stop acting like she is ready to be president now?!?!?!? THIS WOMAN IS OUT OF HER [bleep]ING MIND!!! No story yet, it's an ABC headline from her interview that will air tonight. Not losing my head "completely" until I see the interview with the context, but erm, I cannot for the life of me think of any contextual situation where "war with Russia" should ever exist in a sentence.
