  5. I really like the new sapper even though I never play as spy. It's definitely an upgrade which sacrifices immediate raw power for better utility and tactical usage. Sorta like the degreaser.

  7. Wanna bet? Seriously though, do you honestly believe that the game will be closed by 2014? From, let's say 500k members to closed in two years? I don't think people realise that the only thing they NEED membership money for is server costs. Only when the amount of players gets so incredibly low that they can't afford them will the game be anywhere near closing down. Then how do they pay employees? You don't need that many employees if you're not producing content. The game will only shut down when the cost of maintaining the servers is more than their revenue. At that point, though, they could just scrap the idea of membership and fill the page with ads. You would still need a good amount though. Customer support, public relations/legal, management, bug fixers and game maintenance, for example. As well as building security and maintenance as well. In addition, remember the surplus remaining after server costs must be high enough to give proper incentive for employees to accept their job. No one is going to run the game full-time if it's only turning minimum wage, which is another thing to consider. Rent and utilities also come to mind. I'm not familiar with the costs of running servers but it seems to me that even with a small employee base, their yearly salaries would be greater than the server cost, if not merely a significant aside.

    wow RS sucks now

I can't quite put my finger on it, but RS has lost almost all of its appeal for me as well, and it's something that's been on my mind for half a year or so. It might just because I've been with the game for so long, that the mechanics and air of it have just become boring. Or perhaps after getting my comp cape there were no real goals I was willing to accept next, and goal-driven play was what always kept me motivated and coming back. Then again I also do not agree with the recent "RWT" changes and micro-transactions. Nor do I find recent updates all that exciting. But I cannot say for certain whether my dissatisfaction with the changes results in my disinterest in the game, or if my disinterest in the game results in my dissatisfaction with the changes. I have to ask myself, "if Jagex released SoF 3-4 years ago, would I really have hated it so much?" Part of me says, yes. Of course I would have. It would be just as unacceptable then as it is now. Yet we must also consider that over years of playing, we acquire a distinct taste for a game. And when the game charts a new course, some people cannot adjust their tastes, while others can ride the draft into unmapped waters. And the more imprinted your taste is, the more adamant it is against alteration. I quit playing for the simple reason, or so I thought, that the game had become "boring". Although I understand now that the reason behind that reason is far more complex. Even brilliant gold is weathered and dulled given enough time and enough force. It could be as simple as the lack of goals which fueled my goal-obsessed play before. Or it could be far more complex. It's an enigma we must all face ourselves. Personally, I see Jagex as a crumbling castle, yet for others it might still illuminate in brilliance, and yet for others it is a new horizon radiating across the sky.
  9. Secret to beating the Law of Averages: Make a game out of how big of a dry streak you can get. The longer you go without the drop, the more you're winning. Once you get a drop, well damnit you got yourself a drop. Add friends and beer for extra luls. And a voice chat. I swear to you it works.
