The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Confidence and Self-righteousnes are different. They seem similar, but they definitely are not. -- The SR has legalized gambling, prostitution, and recreational drug use. Buildings are being set up where a citizen of the proper age can purchase drugs and use on site (the rooms will be completely private, with couches, tvs, etc). They will all be taxed, obviously, and should lead to a nice boom to the SR's income. The SR is also setting up clean needle exchange sites for those who are using hard street drugs and don't have the income (or care) to ensure that they don't catch diseases. Also, a larger caliber bullet than the 7.62 is being produced en masse, as this is what the new AKxx standard round will be. The SR has also set up a number of banks that will operate on the (old) Swiss principles of holder security and financial stability, and for the first 5 years will carry significant incentives for foreign holders to put their currency into SR banks (rock bottom interest rates, free safety deposit boxes, etc, etc). A number of specialized factories are also being built, for military vehicle production, machine parts, civilian equipment, and heavy construction. Incentives are also being provided for foreign companies that wish to set up their headquarters in the SR, with low tax policies and prominent placement in one of the world's fastest growing nations. The Slavic Republic is now taking contracts for production of vehicles/parts/weapons/etc (post here, or contact through PM if its "secret"). Payment will be in the form of 1/20th Gold, 19/20th currency (subject to change, but existing deals won't be changed if they happen before a change in the payment standard).

The Slavic Republic would like to join in on this research, if that's alright. Together it'll take less time. If not, then I'll just start the same research anyways. :P Penguin, accept both and then do whatever you want to.

Yeah the page just lists the number, but doesn't say it's actually in gigatons in the chart. Now the SR's (it will just be the Slavic Republic from now on, SSR is too close to 'USSR' for my liking) manufacturing industry starts rocketing upwards due to the abundance of raw materials that is now accesible within the country. The materials bought by the government are offered to companies at reduced cost (I buy 1 ton of Iron from Brazil for $110 per ton, which is sold to companies within the SR for $100 per ton - but only if the materials are used within SR lands). Due to this explosive growth, unemployment has plumetted to an all time low of 2%. wut It's Equatorial Guinea. Not new. Confusing name is confusing. Someone remind me, 5% of your GDP is your surplus, right? (something like you tax 20%, and 75% goes towards other stuff like infrastructure and military) If that's the case, then I'll take it. That averages out to 14 million a year, correct? Oh, and apparently Equatorial Guinea's time zone is WAT. It's 700m to jump start your economy and build industry and whatnot so you don't have to play as a country that makes less than a middle-level company in the western world. No. I already have an over-supply of oil due to switching over to electric cars. Which reminds me. Update on SR projects: Project Framework - coming along nicely (see above) Project FW1 - Building of the Bulgaria-Turkey bridge just started Project FW2 - Electric car 'refuel' depots installed alongside existing gas stations (estimation puts the ratio of gas to electric cars operating within the SR at 2:1) AK 20xx - Hit a bit of a snag in development that was the lack of raw materials (which is now solved thanks to the trade deal with China & Brazil) Project UV - Scrapped Project Underwater Exploration - In its infancy. Indian teams have arrived in Constanta harbour, and are working on the numbers. It's likely some sort of hyper strong alloy has to be created, though the expense of such a thing may be too much for the SR & India to handle on their own. Counter-Intelligence: Very limited in comparison to other countries (mainly because there's not really much to spy on). The SR puts forward a vote in the UN to tax multi-national companies operating within UN countries based on the volume of their pollution. The SR also requests a seat on the security council. In case anyone missed it:

You have like 50x the amount that the trade is for, but I accept. Now to find the other half...ohh Chinaaaa! wat

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Yes but in practise 90% of them would starve to death or be forced to throw rocks due to the logistical nightmare of supplying a continent's worth of soldiers. Do you accept the $700m USD I am willing to send to Equitoreal New Guinea? To be paid back over the course of 50 years at no interest. Also, I have an army of 12,000 strong (new recuits came in to fill the positions of the 900 killed in Somalia). TO BRAZIL: Do you accept the trade deal I sent you? -- For sale: [hide=Bulgarian Land Vehicles]Main Battle Tanks 160 T-72M1 Infantry fighting vehicles 114 BMP-23/A; 100 BMP-1P[2] APC 150 BTR-60PB-MD1 8x8, MT-LB (tracked) Armored patrol vehicles 7 M1117 4x4, 12 BRDM-2 4x4 M1114 Humvees 52 G-class armored jeeps 600 Artillery pieces over 100 mm (excl. mortar) 192 SAMs 208 AAA ca. 300 SS-21 18[/hide] [hide=Bulgarian Air Force] 32 Close Support Aircraft 41 Fighters 15 Transport Planes 19 Training Aircraft 9 Naval helos 24 Transport Helos 18 Attack Helos [/hide] [hide=Naval Vessels]three Wielingen class frigates ; 40 "Дръзки" ("Daring") 40 "Верни" ("Loyal") 43 "Горди" ("Proud") one Koni class frigate; 11 "Смели" ("Brave") two Pauk class ASW corvettes; 10 "Решителни" ("Intrepid") 14 "Бодри" ("Vital") one Tarantul class corvette; 101 "Мълния" ("Lightning") one Tripartite class minehunter; (ex-BNS Myosotis) three Osa class missile boats; one Romeo class submarine. 84 "Слава" ("Glory") two Sonya class minesweepers; two Polnocny class landing ships;[/hide] I will be keeping: 3 corvettes, two minesweepers, 3 naval helicopters, and three frigates (these have already been subtracted from the list above). The SSR navy has been increases to 3,500 personnel. Military stands at 12,500 strong. The personnel laid off from work within the military have been given jobs within the rapidly growing manufacturing and construction industries within the SSR. The tax rate for citizens within the SSR has been dropped to 18%, for the next 10 years at minimum. The SSR's national budget has been posted in full to its website, with only 0.8% of the budget going into the military, and only 0.2% of the budget not available for public view (counter-intelligence). Obviously the citizens are quite pleased that they can see exactly where their tax dollars are going, and quite pleased with the government of the SSR for these recent changes. SSR moves 1 step towards Democratic, and 1 step towards Central Planning (economic).

Well, Russia is still the de facto evil country. Invading Somalia/Ethiopia, and annexing Kazakhstan hasn't exactly improved your global image. -- Bulgaria has agreed to become part of the SSR. We welcome our brothers. I'll put up another auction soon. Construction begins for Project FW1, which is a raised bridge between Bulgaria and Turkey that can be travelled across by shipping trucks, yet is raised high enough to allow sea-borne trade to continue as normal. The bridge is estimated at costing $690m (USD).

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Not talking about the smuggling into Switzerland. I'm talking about smuggling rings and drug shipments that cross the Black Sea. And the SSR welcomes India to the project, and a harbour lab has been set up the work out the research on a vessel that could withstand the enormous pressures deep in the ocean. The team has been granted $150m by the SSR government.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
And the SSR and China as well. There are a lot more FETA countries in Europe already, and the FETA market is more competitive. Cheap oil is kinda pointless as everyone is phasing out oil cars for more fuel-efficient ones. -- SSR News: Project UV has been scrapped. The research and alpha builds for Uranium-Powered Vehicles has been sent to the University of Bucharest for students to work on if they please. This will mean that if it ever does get completed, it would take 10-20x as long as a government research program, however the tech will be shared world-wide as it comes from an academic establishment. Project Framework chugging along. The coal the SSR has traded with China for is being used heavily to build factories, new housing, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure improvements. Dams are still being built to divert water to areas that could be suitable for farming if they had easier access to water. When these are done it should boost the SSR's agricultural output by around 10-15%. The nuclear reactors are still being built, despite the country having an over-abundance of energy from the compensation paid by the Swiss. The SSR Navy has begun cracking down on smuggling rings in the Black Sea. Co-operation with Russian Naval vessels has been instrumental in the operation's growing success, and those captured are being held for trial in SSR courts. Talks with Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia, and Slovenia still continue. If we're going by the influence scale they probably have like..120% favourable view of the SSR. The Great Library of Buharest is in its early stages of construction, and marble, granite, and other expensive flashy building materials are being shipped in on a daily basis. Construction begins on the World Histroy Museum in Kiev. Around $2b NOK has been set aside for the project. The building won't be as flashy as the Great Library, but it will house significant pieces of world history within. The SSR has sent Equitorial Guinea $700m in US dollars to help jump-start the country's economy. It can be paid back over the next 50 years, with no interest. The SSR asks any nation if it would like to take part in a joint venture to explore the depths of the ocean. Special vessels will need to be researched that can withstand the pressure of the Ocean, but, y'never know what we might find. *hopes it's not Cthulhu* The Democratic Liberal Party has won the elections in the SSR. It was a very tight race and so they only hold a minority government (multi party system). *The SSR is still waiting for a response from Brazil over the proposed trade deal for Iron. The SSR moves 1 slider to Democratic, 1 slider to Left.

The SSR accepts Switzerland's offer. Btw I think India just agreed to smuggle stuff in to piss me off :P

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
The EU embargo never happened. It was just Germany that embargoed you. This is half the world embargoing you. Chemical weapons aren't some super-buff against German invasion. The Swiss didn't threaten to use chemical weapons in WW1 or WW2, and Germany never invaded them. Your three options aren't surrender, starvation, or survival. Don't try to stupidity as a style, it doesn't look good on you. Here is what I was thinking: 1. You stop using chemcial warfare weapons, consdering they're stupid and over-powered within the game anyways 2. You stop construction of the dam in the Suez Canal, since it really gains you nothing anyways 3. You pay compensation to the SSR for killing 900 of its peacekeepers in cold blood. BAM. Sanction/Embargo gone. I'm pissed off at you because everything you've done so far would've had disastrous economic impacts on Europe and the world, while somehow magically strengthening your position (since apparently Switzerland exists in another dimension apart from our own).

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Germany did fine for 4 years of world war 1... North Korea is doing fine That statement has no basis in reality...except that you can't deal with the concept....It is even counter intuitive....No country can survive without trade...No man is an Island....Oh, wait, Hermits... Germany was trading with plenty of countries during WW1. North Korea is trading with countries (though, I would remind you that there are some people in NK that are eating bark because they don't get enough food because of their corrupt government). Keep in mind that a huge portion of Switzerland's wealth comes from trading. So, yes, cutting off foreign trade would completely destabilize the country. And I was going to say 'no man is an island', then I realized it isn't really applicable as there's plenty of countries that are islands. Lol. Didn't realize I ever said that. No, what I want you to get through your thick skull is that you can't just go around sticking your dirty hands into everyones pie and believe the next person you do it to isn't going to stop you. Everything you've done in this game so far hasn't gained you anything. It's all been done just to piss everyone off and giggle while people try to piece stuff back together again. I'm just tired of your parading around without thinking that actions have consequences and there are other people in this game other than you. So piss off mate.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Nah, I could go through it all and note that all your points are wildly exaggerated and based on very loose facts, but to be quite honest I don't really care for your little tirade anymore. Switzerland is facing the most dire economic situation it has ever seen, and you're just sitting there blindly denying every point made against you. So, I'll just do the same. No country in the world can survive without trade. Especially one like Switzerland that has next to no natural resources and relies on foreign investment and trade to employ its citizens and generate wealth. Saying "I'll mine the mooooooon!" is pointless as you don't even have access to the jet fuel to get into space in the first place anymore. Nevermind the fact that you forgot to mention there how exactly you're going to come up with enough food to feed 35% of your population, as well as completely ignoring the dissent buildup that's steadily approaching flash point.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Nah I can just take a page out of the Archi Playbook and deflect all your legitimate information gathering with a snide comment and some well placed smiley faces  The world economy continues to be stable, Switzerland is plunged into chaos. In other news, the sale of Slavic Army Knives has skyrocketed, due to the lack of Swiss ones, which were inferior anyways and only survived through brand loyalty and brand recognition.

War
Too many nations, cultures, and ideals exist on Earth. The only way to expand them is to take someone's elses share. Besides, war is an impossible thing to measure. Is war bad? It can be. Is it good? Sometimes. Honestly, if we didn't have warfare we'd probably still be in the stone age, since warfare is the driving force behind 90% (made up statistic) of the world's technology. The real debate comes up with nuclear weapons, when we get the power to actually force people back into the stone age.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
You can produce all the nerve gas you want to. If that's what you're going to feed your starving population with then good luck. Just because Switzerland has mountains and forests doesn't mean it has materials. I have a forest right near me, but I haven't found any uranium deposits in it. You can't feed anyone with a particle accelerator. Obviously you have enough water, that's a given. You can't build a factory out of water though. At least not a working one. Nice made up number of ships that pass through the Suez Canal. Also, the alternative route adds another 6,000 miles. Oh, and I don't think there's any plane in existance that can carry the same volume of oil as a super tanker. It's not foreign companies that are embargoing you. It's the bloody UN. You know, that organization you thought was useless and so left? The same one that is based in Europe, the economy of which you tried to crash? Yeah. They also surround you completely. I don't think a couple tons of gold is enough to get people to turn a blind eye to someone who just runs around gassing foreigners for no reason. Especially not when they're standing right beside you, and could very well be the next recepient of a gas bombing. Phase out the money, good idea. Kind of neccessary considering the Swiss currencies value is dropping like a rock. Ooh! Rock! That's what you can replace your currency with, rocks! You got plenty of those... *Shrug* It's been 5 days already.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Hm. Too bad you don't have the resources to build those defenses anymore. Unless of course you're building them out of wood...oh wait you don't have enough of that either. Hm...I suppose you could build defenses out of oil-less plastic. Better yet, let's invoke the UN and have a bunch of NPCs jump on arguably the most valuable player the Hegemony series has ever acquired because he disagreed with Dusty! Oh wait... India constructs a small, secret smuggling ring that exports fruits into Switzerland and imports Swiss chocolate. This creates a massive chocolate monopoly in India as it now possesses the only source of arguably the best chocolate in the world. Smuggling in goods is inevitable. Smuggling in enough goods to combat the dissent rise is impossible. I hope you realize as well, Rocco, that the blocking of the Suez Canal would've hurt India's economy probably the worst out of everyone. So yes, you can go ahead and attack me for trying to prevent that. Trying to block the biggest shipping lane in history and cause widespread economic hardship is not exactl a 'mild' situation. I could put up the litany of things you've that have nothing to do with defending Switzerland nor defending the 'common man', but I've done that enough already. Everyone here knows exactly what you've done. Swiss banks won't do fine because you've seized all the money that foreign companies/people/corporations/countries have put into Swiss banks. They won't return to you. Your currency is rapidly devaluing because there's nothing to spend it on. Btw, I'll just throw this stuff out here: From the Economy of Switzerland wiki page: I suppose foreign investment is gone due to your actions... I guess 35% of your country will starve to death. Maybe 30% after smuggling is taken into account. Oh dear. Hm. So you have a rise of around 4% in unemployment. Unemployed people are rarely happy, as a rule of thumb. Well, neutrality is out the window. http://www.swissworld.org/en/economy/the_swiss_economy/dependence_on_trade/

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Your country would still go into chaos. You've essentially turn them from the most prosperous peaceful country, into a warped communist dictatorship. They'll be denied 80% of the foodstuffs they would've had before you came into power (stuff that is imported in, fruits in off-season, international foods, etc). Nobody would be putting money into Swiss banks, so those would collapse because they no longer have the capital to function, people would be getting steadily angry at the government every day. It's irrelevant that they have enough electricity to flip on and off the lightswitch constantly, and that they have plenty of bread and water to eat every day. Your country is essentially a gigantic prison.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
It's alright, in a years time his country will be in chaos anyways.

The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Not hypocritical at all. Last game was a different game with a different set of rules. I'd like to also point out that by the time I got into the game Doom already had a continent and a half to herself. Even after my crazy annexation spree and mass expansionism our two empires were pretty much equal in every aspect.
-
The Hegemony (12th Feb = 2018, Part 2)
Ah you withdrew your soldiers. Then why is it that Icu said that he had 100k Russian troops in Somalia, and you had troops to attack my peacekeepers and bomb them with mustard gas? I'm pretty sure Ethiopia would be the laughing stock of the UN considering that: There were never any SSR troops in Ethiopia The SSR troops in Somalia were peacekeepers Only a third of the SSR troops had actual rifles The SSR troops never even hurt a single person Arch. I've seen more cops at a bloody football game than the number of troops that made up my "invasion" force. Honestly, I don't really see how you can't get this through your head: I was fully justified going in there. The fact that I didn't wait for a UN vote is irrelevant, as what I did would've been the exact same thing the UN would do IRL if this came up. You killed my peacekeepers without any justification. Talk? Nah, let's bomb them with mustard gas. But, whatever. I'm done debating this. I've exerted far too much effort trying to make you see just how stupid you've been acting. If you aren't done talking about how I 'invaded' with 900 peacekeepers, and how you're incredulous that anyone would be at all peeved that you've just been trying to destabilize every system in place, then you can simply go back and read through the thread and write your infuriated responses in a journal or something. This debate is over. Like I said before, have fun playing a completely neutered Switzerland that has no power, no wealth, rising dissent, and next to no influence in world events. Maybe next time you should try not to [bleep] with everything you see and expect everyone to stand by and just watch. G'day.
